The current market/economy is unnecessarily tougher for boomers/senior citizens, I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio. I’m really worried about survival after retirement.

True, A lot of folks downplay the role of professionals until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for license advisors Linda Sue Baier and came across someone of due diligence, helped a lot to grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to approx. $850k so far.

There is no good news.. The US debt is $34.5T, interest on that debt is $1T and it will be borrowed too. .The debt can never be retired with "real" money, only with mountains of green toilet paper. To be fair. Getting 2nd hand appliances are most likely better. My dryer broke down last week. Repaired for less than $200. It will probably last 6 years or more before breaking down. It only has 3 settings, a timer, and an off/on switch. That is all my family need for a dryer. Getting a new dryer was out of the question. Simple is better. Low tech is the best solution when you need appliances to do one thing very well. It doesn't need to do anything more than that or look like something that doesn't look like a tumbler than spins in circles.
