So for the rear adjustments, you measure from top to bottom mount and w.e number you have add a little more to adjust the rear shock ?
@procivic6 жыл бұрын
Yes, once the car is on it's own weight, you measure from the shock upper mount on the chassis to the shock lower mount, and then add 2-3 inches as per manufacturer spec.

Legit question, I’ve had the car lowered for a couple months and plan on getting camber kits and dropping it more. On the back strut, how do I correlate the size drop in relation to lowering the spring (ride height) to ensure I’m not putting too much or too little pressure on the strut.

@Severed898 жыл бұрын
PRO Civic.com how do you verify ? I have a 2012 Civic si
@procivic8 жыл бұрын
The pre-load is the amount of compression force on the spring, independent of the ride height. It is hard to give you a good indicator of what to set it to. The most important thing is to check that the fronts are equal and the rears are equal. Most likely the pre-load set by D2 will be sufficient, but again just verify left and right sides are equal.

I am thinking about getting d2 coilovers for my 2014 civic SI sedan. I am concerned though about the ride quality due to road bumps and potholes. I live in Boston, so these type of road conditions are normal. As a result I am thinking about switching to Eibach sportlines and Koni yellows(if they are released for 2014 SI sedan). I use my car as a daily driver and I want to lower my car no more than 2 inches. I'm too busy with my job to track my car over the weekend, so I'm looking more for street performance rather than track performance. Basically, I am asking how are the D2's working out for you in California? Do you have a lot of issues with scraping and rough ride quality due to bumps and potholes? If D2 coilovers are adjusted for a 2 inch drop on a car used as a DD, are they stiffer than eibach sportlines(which has a 2 inch drop) or do they have the same amount of stiffness? With the cost of koni yellows + eibach sportlines, I realized I could get D2 coilovers for a few hundred more dollars. I am willingly to spend that extra few hundred if coilovers are not bad for road bumps/potholes and if D2 coilovers can be adjusted to have a ride quality close to stock, like eibach sportlines. Any information you can give is greatly appreciated! Thanks and keep up the good work as usual with those videos!!
@procivic9 жыл бұрын
I hear ya. We actually tested the D2 coilovers around here over quite a few rough roads and potholes. The D2 coils are surprisingly soft when you adjust the dampers down. In fact, I could not tell a difference between them and the factory ride in terms of comfort. For this reason I would recommend them for your situation over something like getting Eibach's and Koni's (which will be a stiffer ride). The great thing about the D2's is that you can easily adjust the damper setting to make them very stiff if you want.
@damacx9 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot!! That response helped me in more ways than one, I will be getting the D2 coilovers. What drop did you end up settling on for your SI? Did you find it necessary to get a camber kit? It's probably needed for any drop equal to or greater than 2 inches, that's if you don't want to prematurely wear out your tires.
@procivic9 жыл бұрын
damacx We are at a little less than 2 inches all the way around, and don't have a rear camber kit on yet, but probably will do one soon. The camber kit is definitely recommended if you go below 2 inches.
