My dad passed away and during the funeral, he had recorded a speech with himself and it was playing on a TV with this song on low volume in the background, he spoke to us kids and when he made heart gesture and it ended the song went repeat and volume increased to 100%, and we stood up, honored him and carried out the coffin during the song to his eternal rest. THAT feeling was so overwhelming on so many levels. So everytime i hear this song, tears are shed. Absolute masterpiece, Daft Punk.

I literally just broke down crying reading that. Music is the thing that hits the heart like words can't. Some people don't see the beauty in certain pieces. Others get happier vibes. This song to me, has deep feelings of tragedy behind it. And it's perfect. Sometimes we need music like this to help get out what is pent up inside. Or maybe that is just me. I am sorry for your loss though. That scenario would have crushed me.

This song embodies the word “melancholy” perfectly. Or rather, this song feels like fond memories with a slightly sad connotation attached. The knowledge that you can’t go back. Liminal times in life, like a week where cherry blossoms are in bloom, and the petals fall on a blue picnic blanket. The picnic is set for two, but only one stands to watch the sun set on another day. It is transition.

As people in the comments are saying, it feels like a last goodbye to someone dear you know very well you'll never see again. But to me, it is what happened. I was listening to Daft Punk when leaving the hospital after talking for about an hour to my mom; next night, the hospital called me and told me my mother was put to sleep because she couldn't breath any more without the machines. The morning after, she was gone; cancer had won. But I knew, on this cold Tuesday night, coming back from the hospital, that it was the last time I'd ever talk to her. I had a feeling it'd be impossible to go back and see her the week after, like I'd said I would. This song will always reminf me of her. Miss you always mom, thank you for everything you've done for me, and thank you for making me discover Daft Punk.

This song feels like a one sided love that will not ever happen and you know the fact that it will never happen but you still love her in a broken way, even if you were never close or in a relationship because it's a unrequited love and you know that she will never love you but you can't move on or tell her that you love her, because you know it, you know she doesn't love you and never will...

Y'know what's the hardest part? Accepting that it is completely out of your hands 😢 Happened to me and the most pain was caused by the fact that no matter what I did or could do nothing would ever change. But hey, it can get better. 10 years passed and now I'm very happily married to someone who's honestly a much better match for me, even though I didn't have the crazy "in love" sense with my wife like I've had for the one sided crush girl.
@irvinekinny7 ай бұрын
I've watched the plains of night city lights out the stairwell window of the condo where my one-sided love lived. Never having the guts to just ring the door and see her and tell her I need her so much. Some 5 years later my other girlfriend (and the future wife) introduced me to Interstella 5555. And I instantly recognized the sound that was there, at the bottom of my head, during all these hesitating nights. I knew that the robots played the exact tune of my love to that first girl. But then a good thing - now it's been almost a half of my life since I've talked with her and we've admitted that the love wasn't one-sided, and that it is still there, only not requiring any marriage or sex or whatever else there is. Just the sense that someone is there for you, above that beautiful night cityscape, soaring through the air to the same tune after all these years. We may not share a single word for months and years, living happily with our own families, but we know, that we are still there no matter what. It's a beatiful feeling with just a slightest touch of bright sadness and I hope that every desperate one-sided lover will feel that relief some day, sooner or later.

This so reminds me of a simpler time in my life. I had just finished high school, it was summer, I had oodles of time before having to decide on what to do next, and I found myself in MS Flight Simulator a lot. Back then doing an all nighter wasn't an issue, and for some reason, I can still remember this coming on at something like 2 or 3 AM, as I was watching my 747 passing over the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan enroute from London to Singapore. No other sound than the engines and this track playing. And it was just perfect.

In my head this song symbolises human life in a musical form. Song gets more complicated at first and and fades slowly just like one's life. The background sounds (that I could never really learn after i dont know how many times i listened to the song) over the simple beat symbolises how every passing days of our lifes are similar to each other with minor yet distinctive differences. I really love this track.

English Translation- There are hundreds and hundreds of thousands of pieces of music spanning ages and generations like thousands of stars dotting the universe. Among these thousands of songs, each individual will have his favorites, those that will accompany him in his life, on a daily basis. In his moments of joy, sadness, euphoria, distress, hope and despair. Generally the pieces follow one another over time and according to new releases. Nonetheless, there is in my opinion a hard core of songs that will accompany each individual for ALL of their life. These unique songs for everyone will be joined from time to time in the playlists by more ephemeral songs that each person will listen to a few days, even a few months before letting them sink into oblivion. The hard core pieces will remain etched into each individual until the end. Unbreakable. And for me in every hard core of pieces, there is the centerpiece. A unique song, the one that speaks to us the most and that we listen to at least once a week since its discovery. The central cog around which the rest of the pieces dance to orchestrate as best as possible the strongest moments of each life. For me, this central cog has been Veridis Quo for almost 20 years.

Research has found that one of the main reasons why people listen to sad music when they are already hurting is because they experience some kind of connection; either to the lyrics, melody, or emotions expressed through the song
