It's so irritating to do cardtricks in front of my dad, because he tries to see through my tricks (often with success). But for this one he picked number 11, and he had no idea how I did it. I think I can retire now.

I think you want to have one of the best outcomes for 3 and 7 (the most common choices), which you currently don't. That can be done with this trick with a slightly different setup: start with a two that is *seventh* from the top, and then the setup behind your back is that the top 3 go to the bottom without reordering, only then you flip the fourth and insert the top seven into the middle. This way 1-3 are at the bottom (with 3 = show bottom card) and 7 is the "spread all cards and show that only theirs is face-up" outcome.

@michelemoneywell54745 жыл бұрын
That's a cool trick. Once you understand where each card is, there isn't much to memorize, really just the set-up. Shuffle, make 4th card a 2, have them select. Behind back: flip the 4th (2) card, add 3 more, bury those 7 cards, reverse count next 3 cards from top and place so 8th card on bottom (? have to figure out, oh, got it), leaving 11th card on top, followed by cards 12 and 13. Cards 1-7 will be near 2 or the 2, cards 8-10 on/near bottom, cards 11-13 on/near top.

Add in some patter before and during the trick before they pick the number. Words like floor, door, score, etc, anything you can do to program their brain to think "four". Even if it only makes it one out of 12 instead of one of 13 it's worth the effort. For multiple outcome tricks I always have a preferred ending and try to influence them to that some way.

That's a really cool trick. It sounded complicated at the beginning, then got less complicated during the explanation, and then it got completely uncomplicated when you reviewed and showed us where all the cards were in the stack. It looks like real mentalism since, like you said, there's no way you could know the number or the card they were thinking of. Great job. i was thinking and I came up with the idea (i dont know if it has already been done) that you could do this trick but with two people, one guy will choose a number between 1-7 and the other guy will choose a number between 8-13, thus the first guy will always get a card from the middle of the deck and the other guy will get a card from the beginning or end of the deck creating a more impactful reaction, or so i think...

Bravo maestro! A really neat one - and one of those rare gems where the claim that no special manual or other skills are needed is actually true. Really a rare treat. Magicians tend to think that things like a zero-shuffle or a double lift is something that not only everyone can do right away, but everyone can do in a really inconspicuous way. Well, this trick is really one even I with my sausage fingers and spade-size hands can do :)

Just thinking of making the effect a little stronger. Why not do a double lift for card number 12 or a triple lift for number 13? You could go into an ambitious card routine after the reveal and it would have the same impact as card number 11 being on top.
