These tips seriously DO work. Yesterday I was too depressed to tidy the front room. So every time I got up for the bathroom, or to make a cup of tea, I picked up one item and put it away. By the end of the evening the front room was tidy and I got myself a nice early night 🌞

I can't tell you how uplifting this is. I've been struggling with intrusive thoughts and anxiousness for a while, and the seasonal depression of staying inside during the winter doesn't help either. But now that I have some insight on what I can do to be better, I'm gonna list a few things I'll do to make myself more joyful. I'll do the dishes more often! Both of my parents work very hard and they most of the time don't have the energy to do any house chores, so I'll step in to do them! I'll also go and visit my friend's house and have fun with them, it's about time I got out of the house and did something lol. Lastly, I'm going to make it my goal to laugh and smile every single day, even when I'm sad. Wish me luck on my journey, guys! And whatever you're going through, just know you are beautiful, and I appreciate you and your efforts in trying to get better alongside me and many others. Best of luck, and I love y'all!!! ❤❤❤❤

I need reminders of things like this, I end up working hard to overcome depression/anxiety and feel good for a while, and then some kind of big stressful event happens and I just come crashing down. Its hard, when you are in the middle of it to pull yourself out and do 'normal'. Not having a support system also makes it hard, so coming to KZbin to find people like you is extremely helpful. Thank you for what you do.

I don't like habit tracking, actually. I tend to focus on the missed days and I ignore all the checks. And if life happens (as it always does) and I can't cross off my goal (breaking a leg makes it a lot harder to reach your step goal), I'm demotivated. Instead, I have a "menu" of things that I enjoy (bike, yoga, walk, fresh fruits, reading, music...) and I try everyday to pick something from that list - whatever I have the energy for - and I simply focus on enjoying it in the moment.

I do this too! It really helps me focus on all of the things I have done instead of worrying about all the things I didn’t do. I use it for food as well. Instead of thinking about all of the things I shouldn’t eat I set a goal of eating the food I should be eating. It makes it a lot easier to eat healthy because by the time I’ve had a serving of carrots, or spinach, or whatever, I end up craving the bad stuff less and feel more natural motivation to eat healthy foods. Plus I don’t feel nearly as guilty when I eat something unhealthy.

Gratitude when I find it within , oft mental assertion, but the actual awareness of what we’re grateful for is healing to the soul and elevates us in way we could do with anything else . Fullness of gratitude, is pure freedom

Full of good stuff - particularly like exchanging a beautiful photo each day, reading (Garrison Keillor!), writing down good stuff you experienced, bringing joy to others, rounds of full, slow breathing (do any time). PS. Try planting some seeds on your kitchen counter, nurture them, watch them grow. Extra - take lots of vitamin C and niacin.

I've had to change from extreme issues. It's about belief imho. The DSM has nothing on how to learn how to feel good about yourself. In the end, working with one very smart PhD, I learned to what I truly believe and spend my time thinking about. It's truly a habit. Joy and feeling good, cannot out-number constant conscious thoughts about the opposite.. Our unconscious gets programmed with *whatever* we spend our time on. It's a real trick to change.

January is so dark, not much sunlight plays a big role in depression. This is what works with me… go to Home Depot, and go walk down the aisle with all the bright lights! They are always on, and they are so bright my goodness! You can actually feel the warmth, feels like you’re in Florida. It is so bright and I must say it does something to your mind. I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with the things I’ve let pile up so I started an accomplishment log. I write down with bullet stars everything I accomplished during the day. I also write down anything that is bothering me in that day. A helpful thing is to go back and read what I accomplished and what was bothering me. I find it’s all so ephemeral and doesn’t matter much in the future what I was so irked by in the past. I will write down happy things too, but those don’t happen very often. I find I am wanting to do tasks as I want to have something to write down in the log.

St Augustine said my heart will be restless until it rests in you oh God. I have done most all of the things that you have mentioned in the video, but without a deepening of the spiritual life in growing closer to knowing and loving our Lord and creator, true lasting joy will never be found. I realize that your channel is not a religious one but to completely ignore this in your video I think makes seem like you can just do this all on your own. We all need God’s help whether we admit it or not.
@bellak2140 Жыл бұрын
You talk about God yet you think a dead person (Augustine) has the power to tell you stuff. Do like Abraham and the rest of the prophets in the torah and worship God alone. Seeking help from dead "saints" instead of from the living God leads to the hell fire

You really have to find hobbies, habits routines and activities that support happiness and healthiness, brains and happiness both depend on what we do consistently. aerobics, meditation, making music, deep breathing strategies, reading philosophies, getting out in nature, also self love is huge help for me. also I quit other forms of social media four years ago (huge difference) and quit caring about the news in 2010. Also yes practicing gratitude helps me be less pessimistic or negative. So glad I have obtained a job last May that I enjoy for the most part. Also I'm glad I get to volunteer when I can. I try to laugh every day even if its fake or forced. Also dance more often if you can! maybe this will help others.

Hi. I for one love the outdoor segments. What I am going to suggest, and I hate calling it it's name ( in the video/audio production industries), is a "dead cat" mic cover. You have helped me so much with your videos. Have you ever covered How to cope with someone who irritates you down to your core? Like on a molecular level? Someone you can't escape because married them and the divorce is still a little ways down the road? I find myself feeling near rage at the very presence of this man. When he comes in to the kitchen and starts crashing and banging around, running commentary on everything he is doing I have to grind my teeth to remain silent and not just scream at him. Or when he insists on blasting the tv at some insanely loud level while also watching videos on his phone at some crazy loud level, I just have to leave the house. Etc... How does one diffuse this intense emotional and mental result in the face of that which is inescapable? Have you a video for this? Thank you for all you do for us here!
