Amen to that. I went to Europe about a few days after my dad left (deployed for a year after just returning a couple months). I was calling my mom to check in and she said she had a surprise for me. On the Day of Judgement.... everyone will be compensated for their deeds. And looking at those involve in the invasion and oppresion of other countries, I look forward to Judgement Day with glee. Same here, friend. And, as much as I had a brilliant example to follow in the footsteps of, I never had the right direction from my dad to operate _right_ in the world, and I was always confused or angry why that had to be so. I reckon it's taken me having kids to realise why he did it. And what our fathers went through for us. I'm 27 years old... my father did 28 years service before medical discharge a couple years back, so You can imagine how much overlap there was. But, I love that man, and I hope you still love your father. Everyone should. Because, together it's their sacrifice and our determination that keeps our civilisation safe. Thank you for _your_ service, sir! Long weeks waiting for a letter or that phone to ring shouldn't go unrewarded.
