Barry, having the oven under the counter would make filming unnecessarily complicated - awkward camera angle, can't look inside without bending down and changing shot, oven not visible while you're doing other things, etc... Put it in the back wall at waist level like in your home kitchen.

@@daniellecrevier970 : I like using a blender / blending-wand and a french-press-coffeemaker. Add your Oats to the water, add sweetener if you like (sugar, agave-sirup, etc.), then blend, then pour into the coffeemaker, put on the lid and slowly press down the filter. Starting with 1 cup rolled oats + 4 cups water. Then you can experiment changing it to your liking. Without a french press, filtering throu a cheese-cloth or an old T-shirt of cause works too. But I prefer the less messy french-press. And remember that you can yuse the pressed oats for porridge, cereal, baking, etc. 🙂

Having had lactose intolerant friends and family, I suggest trying oat milk if you can get it. It's got a neutral but sweet taste so it goes great in sweets, like chocolate milk and baking! I freeze very ripe peeled bananas (sliced if I think of it) in plastic wrap. If you forget or can’t be bothered to slice, break them 5-6 times after wrapping, but before freezing. If you need to kill a “milk”shake craving quick, blend up a frozen banana, some chocolate syrup, a tiny dash of vanilla, & enough milk of choice that it fits through a straw. Sometimes I get fancy and add instant coffee (but I’m decades older than Chloe!). It’s fast, delicious, and dairy free!

As someone who's allergic to dairy, one of the things that took me a while to master was cheese sauce. When I first cut out dairy, vegan cheese wasn't readily available so I had to use butter beans. Now I just use the classic roux and vegan cheese method. Testing different methods might be a fun video idea.

I can't wait to see the content that Chloe and Phoebe produce. They both seem to really enjoy cooking and baking. My Mum can't eat wheat, and my only concern with these Wheat Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, etc Supermarket Offerings are that, because there is more of a process involved in making them, they're sometimes up to 2-3x the price compared to the regular item.

my own 'go to' is take a block of silken tofu, drain it. add maple syrup and a generous amount of cocoa powder. blitz the living daylights out of it with a blender, if it looks too thick, add a little oat cream. pour into a decent size lidded container - freeze. the next step up from that is cake. defrost ice cream, add self raising flour and mix until it's thick - pour into a lined cake tin, bake until cracked on top/wooden skewer comes out clean. serve with ice cream.

I always keep sliced (skinned) bananas in the freezer in ziploc bags. Really good to eat straight from the bag, for an ice cream-like treat anytime, but also a great ingredient for home made ice cream as well as a variety of sweet and savoury dishes. Sorbets are awesome! My local ice cream shop is Ruby Violet, all their sorbets are vegan friendly and they have some vegan friendly ice cream too. The flavours change often so you never know what you'll find, but here's some inspiration: mint and cucumber - lovely in summer, very refreshing, tastes a bit like green apples chocolate - best chocolate sorbet you'll ever find, thick and creamy and insanely chocolatey pineapple and chilli - pineapple but with a twist lychee and rose - delicate but full of flavour beetroot and ginger - unusual but it works! quince and raspberry - nicely balanced blood orange - seasonal, pure or with Campari gin and tonic - do I need to say more? elderflower and Prosecco - see above mulled wine - see above Bloody Mary - again, see above

Ben & Jerry's non-dairy ice creams are delicious, if they're available in UK. Highly recommend. I make a quick chocolate "shake" in my blender (ftr, Vitamix 💪): 1 (pre-peeled) frozen banana 1 tbsp dutched cocoa powder pinch salt 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 cup non-dairy milk (more/less for desired thicc-ness 🙃) It's super quick. Sometimes I chuck some peanut butter in it for a Reese's vibe. 🤤 And I don't taste the banana thru chocolate and vanilla.

Barrie, if you can find Kosher food locally, anything listed as “Pareve”, “Parve” or meat based will ALWAYS be dairy free as we never mix meat and dairy in a meal. The “New International Jewish CookBook” by the late Evelyn Rose even has a recipe for dairy free Yorkshire puddings, for example! Look for the kosher symbol (KLBD or OU) with a “P” for the dairy free stuff next to it. It’s amazing how much food in all supermarkets carry these logos!

Yes, there’s a verse in the Torah (first 5 books of the Hebrew Bible) where G-d forbids “seething a kid in its mother’s milk”. For that reason we keep all meat & dairy separate. Some folk wait four + hours after eating meat before eating dairy again. Fish can be used in a dairy meal, as can eggs.

8:17 adding salt actually lowers the freezing temperature, so it doesn't speed things up - it slows them down. lowering the freezing temperature is actually a good thing though - it means your ice cream will be softer when frozen, like ice cream is supposed to be, instead of freezing into a solid block of ice. that being said, it's such a small amount of salt that it will probably have very little effect on the freezing temperature. the real reason it's in the recipe is probably to enhance the chocolate flavor.

I have a Yonana machine putting frozen bananas in the top and getting banana nice cream out the bottom I think you and the family have had Dole Whip this is the frozen banana version. Quick tip for making great tasting banana nice cream - the riper the banana are the better - brown spots at least. - peal and chop into manageable chunks - pop in a freezer bag and freeze them

9:30 i think i saw a video where someone used thawed ice cream as a cake base. i think they just added flour and a rising agent to it. since it already contained everything else needed

There is something called a FroYo. You send frozen yogurt or fruit in it. It makes a wonderful frozen fruit blend. Frozen banana 🍌comes out like vanilla soft serve

ooh! I'm dairy intolerant too, I might try these, though there's already some good alternatives out there for ice cream -- Wall's Swedish Glace is a good one made from soy and coconut, there's even vegan magnums and cornettos! Ben & Jerry's now make a few with almond milk, and I think there's a few vegan-specific brands like Jude's, so there's plenty of options! There's also plenty of real dairy cheeses that are already low in lactose, specifically well-aged ones like gruyere and parmesan, and Arla make a "lactofree" mature cheddar that's actually very good, it's easy enough to make a cheese sauce using those and some soya milk. I have a bit of trouble with other lactofree products though, I think I must be intolerant to the dairy protein in milk too, which is changed in well-aged cheeses but remains the same in "young" cheeses (like cream cheese), so just a note in case that's a problem for Chloe.

The trick is to peel the bananas before you put them in the freezer. The black ones work really well too...

My favorite alternative "milk" is oat milk. I get a barrista version, it's creamy and great in my coffee. Agave, ah-gah-vay, accent on the gah.

We got a Ninja Creami last year. Their recipe book uses oat milk and coconut milk as substitutes for dairy; which is good for my Mum. Good bit of kit, but VERY loud. I don't recommend shop bought almond butter for ice cream though. I assume it's because they don't peel the almonds, but it's disgusting when turned into ice cream.

What about using coconut milk instead of almond milk in the banana ice cream?
I've waited 15 years for this appliance...
