DAKOTA HAWK EPISODE 1

The DAKOTA HAWK build has begun... One thing of importance is the geodetic fitting snuggly in the rib cap kerf. Clothes pins work great on the geodetic crosses

Hi great video, DHW10 & 11 if the same as the youngster will be lengths acting as a false spar. Section A-A shows that a vertical at the front of the rib is made out of the rib capping strip (the line in the middle is the grove cut in that mateial of all the cap strip for the cross pieces to slot into), slightly different to the Youngster. I think my clamps must be smaller than yours, it is recommended to clamp the cross pieces lightly, large heavy duty paper clips would work.

Yes the De10 & 11 are leading edge spars.

Hi, new to your channel. What engine are you gonna be using? How much was the plans? Can this plane be made both tail trigger and nose wheel?

I was thinking of the Aeromomentum engine... most use the Rotax I believe. I think the plans are about $500??? The plans are for a taildragger but there is at least one person building a trigear... look up dakotatrihawk... I think his handle is ulbuilder.

@@outlawflyer7868 See how fast I can afford to go... at least 100HP. In the foothills of Alberta I'm typically taking off from a field at 5000ft and flying into the mountains so horsepower is your friend. aeromomentum.com/am13.html

I always wanted a Continental O-200 on one of these aircraft. Yes I know it's heavy, but I just like the idea of an O-200 on a Dakota Hawk.

So, have you asked Dave Hertner if it is OK to have the rib cap strip grooves off center? And, appears the blocks that locate vertical rib supports seem to be a tad off from the drawing. I can see different thickness of black from block to block. This mabe nit piking, but..... Not a hater, just concerned.

Hi Andrew, plans built... so I have to make the wood parts from bulk. Machine down to proper fit... etc.
