Speaking from experience, this is 100% spot on. Also STAY AWAY from companies trying to sell you on a recruiting service. It’s yet another waste of money.

Im watching this video excited that my nephew who is 13 and a very talented hitter is going to high school next year and i know he is going to attract some attention. He has been killing it at the plate 2 seasons in a row. And he is a really big strong solid tall kid. Already grown man size at 13. I know scouts will love that. I can't wait to go through the recruiting process with him 😆

slow down. if you start expectations that he'll become a college player now - and it's way too early, seeing that he's 13 - you'll set yourself up, and him, for failure. Reality wont live up to what you're going to dream up. Scouts may not love him. He may not keep developing. Enjoy today and dont go into the future.

Great advice, especially about capturing strong video and editing. More often than not you see video captured on a iPhone from way back in the stands. Then, you have to squint to find little Johnny in the action.

HI Coach Dan my name is Adolfo Silva, Im a senior from Canada (2006). I am 6'3 and 215 pounds. Ive always been a big tall kid and wanted to persue baseball late. I started playing competitive baseball As a 3B,1B and P at 16U. My levels were (16U)AA, (17U)A and Now this year again (18U)AA. I have been playing house league which is an open league and never got the chance to start REP before because my parents were busy. I never thought I had to do research for College baseball I just thought about playing. Ive done research by looking at some tips on NCSA And this video together. Ive done research on camps, showcases about emailing schools (D1,D2 D3 NAIA JUCO) and making a skills video which ill start my next practise but I feel like I'm out of time and need guidance for my situation, a straight path to head towards and steps to overcome and move forward with, with your expertise. I really want this and have a passion for baseball so if you could help me out that would be great. thanks for the great video! Thanks again Coach Dan

@@DanBlewett My son goes to Houston Country in GA, theyve all been doing extra to be starters or just get on the team. For a public school, its all these kids who put the pressure on themselves to get bigger and stronger. "Beanpole" isnt going to make this team at all. Even our 6'7" kid, Andrew Dunford, last year would have made a stout D-end for football.

Can/should you email a coach before you have a recruiting video? How important is game film in the recruiting video?
@DanBlewett
@DanBlewett Жыл бұрын
very important. if they cant see you play, what are they going to be able to tell about you?

@@DanBlewett the majority of the recruiting videos I see posted on KZbin never have game film and it just shows them doing drills and BP. Will a clip tell the whole story about a player? Could you make a video doing drills and send them the link to your schedule to watch you on GC?

Hey coach Dan, I’m a senior in high school and I decided I want to take baseball seriously but I didn’t play in high school. Is it too late to start even if I give it my all? If not how do I even start?

Dan, thanks again for another excellent video, this was very helpful as we plan our son's path forward to hopefully playing in College. Interested in your thoughts about playing High School baseball or instead using that time to develop strength/velo etc. and be ready for Summer? My son (currently a Sophomore pitcher) will be a Junior next year (2024) and the HS Varsity team will be stacked with Seniors (and is poorly run), so he will be on the bench most of the season. I am thinking he would be better off continuing with his development program and being ready for Summer travel ball / camps / showcases. He has played on his Summer team for several years and his Coach is an excellent reference.

thanks for the questions - skipping baseball seasons is a very bad idea, and a growing trend, unfortunately - kids need to actually be good at baseball, and there are more and more of them who can throw hard but cant throw strikes and/or get hitters out. Ballplayers have to play baseball to acquire the mental and physical skills and competitiveness to have any chance of succeeding in varsity and college baseball. And in his case, skipping his junior year will almost certainly lead him to not be on the team his senior year - if I was head coach, personally, I could cut a kid who skipped intentionally over those who showed up. He can still find ways to improve during the season - it's not as challenging as you might think with good planning.
