I've never associated Ave Maria with Christmas, probably because my first exposure to it was in the Bear Mountain sequence in Disney's Fantasia. The song has a storied past as the lyrics came centuries before the music being a traditional Catholic prayer, hence the Latin. It married well with Schubert's music which also wasn't Christmassy. It was part of Schubert's musical retelling of Sir Walter Scott's poem, "The Lady of the Lake." Unrequested lesson over but what wouldn't I give for a duet of anything by Tommy and Dan.
