When I was in my teens, I naturally was able to hit pitching shots within 100 yards consistently without any instruction. It was easily the strongest part of my game. When I hit my twenties, one summer I suddenly got the yips between 20-100 yards and to this day I still haven't fully shaken them. The information and tips you've shared have really helped me diagnose my pitching and the things I am doing wrong out of fear to compensate.Watching you hit those pitch shots, while explaining the rythm and shoulder positioning, brought back memories of the satisfying feeling you get after hitting a clean, effortless pitch shot without even thinking twice about it! Thank you!

As you stated, think of the rhythm as a throwing motion of the ball towards the hole to help control distance. Works for me.

Yes, yes, yes! Loved the videos you did with Pete on greenside work. I love that you identified that you were using all the shots here with the 56* wedge. I have settled on the 54* for this work and use much of what you are discussing here to rehearse the shots. I am fortunate enough to have "zones" in my yard "and my neighbors'" to hit to that allow for designated distances. Hence, I am able to know how much momentum I need to have with the wedge to get the ball to drop, roll and stop. The lead and trail arm drills are the bomb and help coordinate a true fluid feel to the swing. Have had a number of fellow players of late talk about how fluid my pitch swing is and there is nothing like that clean, crisp sound of the ball coming off the face of the club flying to the target and coming to a stop at "kick-in" distance from the pin. Great lesson as always....

I've been struggling with my short game for DECADES, and I've tried tons of changes in the past to no avail. I just employed these tips yesterday on the course and saw a substantial improvement! Now I just need to get to the range and commit them to muscle memory... If my pitching/chipping continues on the new path I just started, then my overall scores will vastly improve, along with my love for the game. Thanks for breaking it down so simply, Danny! This was the first video of yours I've seen, but you earned a new subscriber with it.

Another great video but my comment here is a general one and this is that you, Danny Maude, have improved my golf game. The quality of my swing and the results I’m getting since I started to watch and incorporate your videos has improved. I guess everyone learns in different ways, but the way you explain and demonstrate the various techniques required to play well (and thus enjoy the game more) really works for me. Thank you for what you do.

I've been watching your videos for several years. I love your approach to instruction of a very difficult game. I also remember from your original video with Mr. Cowens that in the course of the pitch shot telling yourself that "you're just messing about." Let the club fall, pressure down, get the body out of the way, and you're just messing about. Somehow, that message relaxes the body and the mind if you're just 'messing about.' Thanks Danny!

Hey Danny! Just wanted to give you a massive thanks! You have completely changed my chipping and pitching this year. It has even translated to my putter. My short game confidence is sky high and has never been better. Hi Danny, my pitching has been poor lately so, as always, I took your advice about getting the left shoulder out of the way. It felt really positive and I realised that I would get a much better strike right through the bag if I used this tip. So, I took it to the course as my swing thought for the day and struck the ball much better from driver through to wedge. Brilliant. Still lost my match, but a definite improvement. It's no surprise to me that your now World No 1 golf instructor online. IMHO, the GOAT!

Great vid! Pulls the all the Pete Cowen ideas together into a comprehensive view. Mr. Cowen always refers to natural forces, I always guested he was talking about using gravity to accelerate the club head while the golfers body (left shoulder?) becomes the center of the arc for centrapetal force. You just demonstrated his ideas. Really great.

A big thing for me with pitch shots is the grip. I think this really emphasizes the idea of letting the club drop naturally. Once I started staying loose with the grip to allow the clubhead to drop in my downswing, this whole technique of pitching became a lot less of a conscious effort and that 50-60 yard shot over a bunker onto the green magically no longer frightens me.

Best thing I ever found for pitching was to feel "dead hands" - hit different lengths and flights with different clubs and back swing lengths, but my last thought for all of them is "dead hands". I think that thought and feel is giving me the same thing you're referring to in this video - just feeling the club drop and let the momentum take care of things as I turn my chest to the target. Still need to practice a LOT more and get the distances dialled in, but the times I've spent a little time on this I've been pleasantly surprised how easy it is to get consistency - now I love playing 30-80 yard shots (even if they don't always go to plan ...but that's golf for you 😉)

Classic Danny! If there’s one thing I’ve learned from him it’s let you body or arms swing naturally and not manufactured. Love all these tips. This is a really good one for me. I have a lot of these shots and tend to thin them more than not. Thanks for the tip. Cheers!

I just discovered few weeks ago your channel. On each new round, I tried to work on one or two drills (chipping at this time) Massive improvement I have to admit. Now lI need to get better consistency. But definitely, your drills are helping me. Thanks Danny from Lyon

I used this in this morning's round having not practiced it at all. I was always pulling pitches left with great consistency, getting the distance but always left. So I aimed right, and of course they go straight there, missing by the same distance, but on the right. But this morning, it was just that little go-with-it move, the chest turning toward the target through impact that sorted it. Got up and down from 60 yards twice, and would have been 3 times but for missing a 4 footer. Probably more to the point, all 7 of them went to easy 2-putt range, which is a big thing when you're in the low 80s bracket. Shot 81.

Danny, great lesson that illustrates -and explains - the Pete Cowen short pitching method so well. The short game stuff with Pete on your website is pound for pound the best pitching/bunker/chipping teaching ever. A peerless Yorkshire double act. As you approach a million subscribers can I say thanks for the work that goes into this teaching of this quality. Take a bow 👏👏👏

Took this out to the course last Sunday evening and took my time over the drills. On third 55 yards out hit three balls to 5, 8 and 12 feet. Walked in and had a beer. Top, top teaching this.

Love the videos. Definitely the best available. I still struggle with short chips. I can’t slow down my back swing and regularly duff my chips. It’s equivalent to chipping yips. I’ll keep practicing though.

You have transformed my short game. I either had a big flop shot or a squeezy chip as my options. But when you described how to glide the club and bruise the ground that just clicked and it is my go to thought for those 20-70 yard shots.
