There's something I am wondering about. The descriptions of Sir Alonne's soul and items hint that he suddenly left, but this leaves the question: Why is his armor and sword locked away in the uppermost reaches of Brume Tower, and not with him whereever he went? And regarding the armor and sword: Why is the memory named "Memory of the Old Iron King" and not the Memory of Sir Alonne? In the Giant Memories we take the role of an unnamed hero who fought in the giant invasion and struck down the giant lord. It is assumed that the giants whose memories we enter were giants that were present at the battles where the unnamed hero fought, or perhaps even struck down by that hero. So the corpses are associated with the person whose role we take. So what caused the armor to be associated with the Old Iron Kings memories? And where is the Old Iron King in these memories? I wonder if the Old Iron King reached a point where Sir Alonne became more of a liability than a help. Think about it: in the 5 things.. video Vaati says that Sir Alonne bows to you as he would when greeting an old friend. What if the Iron King slew Sir Alonne once he had no further use for him, or once they reached a disagreement? I can imagine that maybe the knights serving under him, later known as Alonne Knights, were perhaps more loyal to him than the Old Iron King. I suspect we may be taking the role of the Old Iron King in this battle, as he challenges his old friend out of sight of his kingdom and subjects. After the battle, he honored his erstwhile friend by naming his knights after him, and fabricated the story that he had left for lands unknown. I don't know, it sort of makes sense to me at least. What do you guys think?
@Rammkommando7 жыл бұрын
3 years late i think we are that unnamed hero during the war with the giants considering that the last giant has been confirmed to be the giant lord who is pissed that we defeated him. i think we were the ones who fought sir alonne or it could be your theory but its possible that sir alonne left suddenly and the king went after him either angered or sir alonne mistook the king coming after him as a threat or perhaps sir alonne since he is from the east challenged him for the throne and out of respect out of his friend the king named his men after him either before he left or after he died
@joshuawiseman56294 жыл бұрын
in vaatis lore on sir alonne he says were in the memory of the king and he goes after and slays his once closest friend,and that he keeps alonnes armor as a memory to him cuz he sees that alonne kept his humble throne when he was a young king

" The king sunk below the scorching iron, met the one whose name must never be repeated " I don't think that this thing that cannot have the name repeated would be Manus or Gwyn. Both had seen to had their names forgoten by history. But through the game (and before the dlc) we see those statues of serpents without heads. Probably those statues make reference to the primordials serpents. Darkstalker Kaathe helped to bring the dark to New Londo and Oolacile, maybe the king met him or another primordial serpent.
@catStone9210 жыл бұрын
mannus' name was not at all forgotten, since it's in the descryption of some of nashandra's items iirc
@hnhenrique298410 жыл бұрын
Pedro Gusmão I think they used " the old one of the abyss " in the itens description and never the name Mannus. But even if he was not forgotten I don't see why would be him, his soul was "split into miniscule fragments, and spread across the land" and those fragments are being reborn in the form of those Queens. And the Old Iron King soul is not tainted Dark like Mannu's Soul. We can the Old King Soul on him, this is actually only a part of Gywn soul. The other part is still separeted on the Old PaleDrake soul. This soul was the part that Gywn gave to the four kings of New Londo. And who had a very close relationship with the Four Kings? Btw, sorry to everybody my terrible grammar
@catStone9210 жыл бұрын
Hn Henrique I actually don't remember that darkstalker kaathe helped bring darkness to new londo and oolacile, nor that he was a close friend to the four kings. Also, it doesn't seem that this piece of soul was the one gwyn gave to the four kings. Otherwise you would get something reminescent of the four kings and not of gwyn himself, much like the paledrake soul yields a sorcery or the sword of moonlight
@hnhenrique298410 жыл бұрын
Pedro Gusmão Both Ingward and Marvellous Chester mentioned Darkstalker Kaathe on their dialogs. Its said that Kaathe gave the art of lifedrain to them and broght destruction to New Londo. And we have mentions implying that he manipulated the people of Oolacile. If you don't remember this or you did not knew you are missing a very big part of the first dark souls lore. About the soul not giving something reminescent of the four kings. On the first game we never used that souls to make something, we only use that to put on the lordvessel. Seath was a much more powerfull being that the Four Kings, so I imagine that when he got the "Bequeathed Lord Soul Shard" from Gywn he left a mark on that soul. But the Four Kings did not left this mark.

My legitimate guess? The remains of the Queen of Izalith and the hellthorne bug she became... The same one that crawled into the eye-socket of the Lost Sinner... And the King became a Demon, the Sinner, if it is Eygil, created a Demon. Also, "Old Witch's Soul"...

About Ichorous and The Old Iron King - Ichor originates in Greek mythology, where it is the ethereal fluid that is the Greek gods' blood, sometimes said to retain the qualities of the immortal's food and drink, ambrosia or nectar. ... "In Ancient Crete, tradition told of Talos, a giant man of bronze portrayed with wings. When Cretan mythology was appropriated by the Greeks, they imagined him more like the Colossus of Rhodes. He possessed a single vein running with ichor that was stoppered by a nail in his back. Talos guarded Europa on Crete and threw boulders at intruders until the Argonauts came after the acquisition of the Golden Fleece and the sorceress Medea took out the nail, releasing the ichor and killing him." ..

Hey Vaati, something i believe you and many other people have missed i thought i would point out. You ever get a good look at that old iron scepter we use to alight the tower? More specifically, the fact that its constantly on fire and appears to be perpetually melting. (thus the iron) Now the grip of said rod to me dosent seem like something a scepter would have.. more of a handle really. And that bit on the end looks like a pommel... get where im going with this? I believe that the old iron scepter is in reality, a melty version of Gwyns sword. King did find his soul after all, so it makes sense his blade would be nearby. Course i could just be insanely wrong as dark souls as a series is interpreted in many different ways.

I love the thought that Lost Sinner is actually Eygil. I mean, it kinda makes sense. After all she is possessed by the Bed of Chaos' soul, and she clearly has been a pyromancer before her demise, looking at the stile of her rags being very similar to the Great Swamp stuff and the effect of her cuffs. And is there a better way to become an awesome pyromancer than having a connection with the Daughters or in this case the Mother of Chaos? Salaman says no. Also, talking about the Great Swamp: Eygil? Eyngi? I won't make suspicions that they are the same person, but the similarity is noticable. Makes me wonder if Eygil is from the area that used to be the Great Swamp in DkS days. It is one of the only parts of DkS2 lore I really enjoy, because it's not as straightforward as most of the other stuff. It reminds me of the Solaira/Son of Gwyn dilemma in DkS. There is so much pointing towards it, but in the end, we will never know.

the whole eigil thing being a woman AND the lost sinner makes a lot of sense, since: 1. the old iron king had a mistress (mytha became a "gorgon" because of that) 2. a lot of people think that the lost sinner is the princess of belfry luna, and that the iron king is the prince of belfry sol 3. eigil tryinh to give fire a will of it's own kind of matches the lost sinner's sin 4. the old iron king made an idol of/for eigil everything kinda falls into place with that one. Also, to the people that say the bull's head doesn't make sense if eigil's a woman, it could very well be a cow (iirc it's only meantioned as minotaur which can go either way). I think in some cultures cows are actually a symbol of fertility, so.... That said, it's also possible that while egil is the lost sinner AND the princess of belfry sol, she could very well be the lover of a potential son of the old iron king (not that I think one was ever mentioned)
@hnhenrique298410 жыл бұрын

I support the theory about the Lost Sinner being the one that gave life to the Smelter Demon. As she holds the soul of the Witch of Izalith, who tried to replicate the First Flame in order to give power to Gwyn's reign, failing in her attempt, same did the Lost Sinner with the Old Iron King, who holds the soul of the Lord of Sunlight. It just make a lot of sense. Great video Vaati.

There's a few loose ends that I am still not connecting. Namely Mytha, a queen that was cheated upon by her beloved one, and the Prince of Venn and Princess of Alken, who were lovers, one Sun, one Moon, of two different kingdoms that might have rose at the same time. I never truly thought that the Four Old ones are actual reincarnations of the lords of the first game, but merely people that stumbled across those souls - reason why they became big. Old Iron King now seems to have met with a fragment of Manus, although the lines of Shalquoire still somehow make me dubious. I for one don't think the Sinner is Eygil, simply because of the Bellkeepers. I think the Sinner is the Princess of Alken, lover of the Prince of Venn - who came before the Old Iron King. And that Prince might have been the husband of Mytha, although she is a Queen afterall. Goddammit From, did you just make a Love Pentagon? IS THIS A THING NOW?!

I always assumed that the Throne Defender and Throne Watcher were the Prince and Princess respectively. True, the game does refer to both as "he" but just looking at the Watcher and seeing the way she fights makes me lean towards her being a woman (English translations aren't always the best...) Also, the royals have this theme relating to a bell, and the Watcher's shield is clearly a fragment of a bell. As for Mytha, I believe that she fell in love with the Iron King himself. The other choice is Vendrick but we know he "loved" Nashandra so I'll focus on Iron King. Initially I thought (upon hearing of the DLC and the Queens) "Oh, well Nadalia must've gotten there first." But now I'm thinking the other "love" the king found was (cliche'd) power and iron. I mean, watching this video kinda shows how infatuated Old Iron King was with iron. So he completely ignores her, she poisons herself with everything, somehow loses her head (I'm looking at you, Thomas...) and that's that.

TheSeth256 Goshdarnit, do I have to explain the lore about Gavlan again? Gavlan was once a simple minded young Gyrm child who happened to stumble upon a flask. A flask that would never be empty, The Everflowing Mug. One day, a strange thing happened to poor young Gavlan. The Mug, it spoke to him. It spoke of dreams and riddles of a time that has yet to come. It took young Gavlan on a trip into the FUTURE!!! To a time that we all know, the 21th century! That's right! Gavlan traveled to our time, where he encountered things that would break his simple mind. Technology, big cities, people without armour and with little creatures walking besides them or resting in their arms. Gavlans mind was blown to bits and pieces and the gyrm child started to wonder. Wonder about the here and now, wonder about the reality of it all, wonder if he would ever get back to his homeland in the past. But one day, many many years later, Gavlan stumbled across 2 guys who were dealing with these so called cars, The wheeler dealers!! Gavlan got inspired by their actions. He hung around with them and learned from them. After he had learned everything there was to learn about dealing and wheeling the wheeler dealers gave Gavlan a car wheel and a can of Heineken and the Mug decided it was finally time for Gavlan to return to his time. Gavlan arrived at the Gutter instead of the doors of Pharros. It was so dark there, unlike any dark Gavlan had ever faced, that he lost his wheel. :C Poor Gavlan. He drank his Heineken in sorrow for losing his wheel and threw the can at some rats. But then he got an idea!!! What if it was possible to get his wheel back through wheeling and dealing?!! And now poor old Gavlan wanders Drangleic, wheeling and dealing in search of his lost gift from the future! Home made lore is best lore

I'm suprised at the lack of primordial serpents, haven't they always been the ones pulling the strings especially now that gwyndolin is gone? maybe if you get all the crowns you'll get a different ending^^

your smelter theory doesn't add up that the bluelter demon is magic elemental, wouldn't make sense for a pyromancer to make a sorcery-golem... but then again the blelter demon isnt cannon, hes just some lolrandumb fun boss added for challenge, in my eyes.

When i first read the description of his soul, i thought the old iron king was just corrupted by the flames of chaos of lost izalith, that exists below his land, but now WTF ? We have some evil guy that exists down there, whose name must not be called ? Who is it, Voldemord ? O.O

well. if you go along with the theory that the iron keep is where anor londo use to be. it could be manus, since oolacile was right next to anor londo.

Only played it on release because i've had to make videos these past few days! But as soon as i'm done with the next, i'm going to give it another go. I like it so far! The AI is really intelligent, plus I like how the PvP isn't balanced - there's more of a "progression" aspect to it so far that I like. Feels like you're achieving something.

wait question, could Ichorous earth have been the dragon turned demon?
@JokerScythe110 жыл бұрын
the dragon could have melted away but it may have had magic enchanted in it to make sure the flames wouldn't melt it.
@JokerScythe110 жыл бұрын
yeah, for he was transformed into the demon we see right now.
@JokerScythe110 жыл бұрын
well you can make the argument that the old king was also a great demon.
@JokerScythe110 жыл бұрын
are you sure the King wasn't a great being, with a soul that powerful to still be in this "time" what would that mean, the kings soul even thou weak now, is still pretty powerful and with that much power what would you do with it, if you had a stockpile of iron, an Iron dragon, and a way to control iron, now lets say the kings soul was Lord Gwyns, at the end of dark souls 1 Gwyn was known as the Lord of Cinder meaning the lord of a burnt out flame, and there seems to be some areas of the keep that need flames to be put out just to get through I could be using the wrong burn and I am sorry, or you could go with that gwyn was seen as a god (maybe) and his souls, like ichor, now flows through and mass of iron. turning it into a beast of great power, now that the beast and give it a sacrifice per say and twisting a beast into something different. that take away the soul being gwyns, and just let it be a great and powerful soul, a souls that can exert influence over the land. I really think the second one is more plausible.

Mega-super like! This is the kind of quality that you got us all spoiled on! Adding to your line of thoughts, have you ever considered that the soul that Old Iron King found and that created Ichorous Earth is none other than the Four King's Soul? The description talks about "things that lurk below", plural. There are other connections, like both New Londo and Iron Keep sunk beneath something (water and lava, respectively). I always believed that Vendrick owned Gwyn's soul and that is what you find on the chair in Amana (it looks like a Lord Soul, too). Technically speaking, though, Four King's Soul is also a Gwyn soul shard (Bequeathed Lord Soul), so it makes sense that it's also Gwyn's soul, too, together with the one found in Amana, and the one possessed by Seath and his successors. And as for "cannot be named", well, after being corrupted by the Abyss, the Four Kings were the extensions of Manus, so it also makes sense they/he cannot be named. It could also be - as others have said here - that the things that lurk below and cannot be named are the Serpents. They are supposedly still working on making the Age of Fire go away, so theoretically they would be the keepers of the Abyss. I can imagine how they would 'convert' the Old Iron King. I have some questions, too. Have you noticed how the huge armors look like giant versions of the Heide Old Knights? What could this mean? Are the Old Knights precursors to the Ironclads in a way? Heide also knew how to create souls/give souls to unliving materials? I find this very interesting. Maybe even the great Brume Tower forge was found by the Old Iron King, not created. Also, the bottom of the tower has an ashen heap and a huge sword-like thing erected over it. From up above it looks exactly like a giant, burnt-down bonfire with the sword-like thing poking out of it! And there is a throne below it, filled with ash. Is that another (incarnation of the) Throne of Want? Was the First Flame once there? What is that place? I'd really like to hear (well err.. read) your thoughts on these.

I know it's speculation but you bringing up the possibility that Vendrick is using you to get the other crowns ins amazingly sinister and lovely. Holy shit Holy shit! Dark Souls 'campaign' (I use that word lightly) is totally a metaphor for our current times! We build up these huge fantastical castles, skyscrapers, stadiums, with really no hope of maintaining them in the future. Just an ode to our capacity to create, to show our power!! Damn, without you Vaati I would never have recognized the underlying message Dark souls is sending us. The experience in the game like our pursuits in life repeat themselves over and over and over again.... Clearly, we nor the characters we play in the game learn the folly of our ways. Always trying to light the great fire! But for what? To cure a curse we can't even prevent and don't know how it even started? This is totally the game's metaphor for the numerous unanswerable social issues we face today in our world; the injustice and abuse of power we see, the needless suffering of powerless people, and of course the belief that we as humanity can rise above it all, above the curse... but can we? Thank you, From Software, and you too Vaati! #artingames

i couldn't help but notice two things that had been skipped over; For one, there is the Majestic Greatsword, although that's less relevant to the story of the Old Iron King. The second is a detail that I don't understand. So it's clear from the text on the Alonne Knight and Alonne Captain armors that the Alonne Knights served the Old Iron King, and then it's revealed to us that the knights are named after the Old Iron King's most trusted knight. but what isn't explained is why the CAPTAINS of the Old Iron King's loyal Alonne Knights bear the Crest of Drangleic on their pauldrons, just as Sir Yorgh's ring. we have royal soldiers of Drangleic trying to storm the Brume Tower and Raime of all people choosing to settle there after his exile, but then we have the loyal knights of the Old Iron King bearing the crest of Drangleic.
@KingCuddler10 жыл бұрын
What if the knights of drangleic came to Brume tower with Raime, a few knights who stayed true to the rebel after he was deemed a traitor. It's mentioned he had the power to defeat the daughter of darkness before he fell in love with her, perhaps he is the one responsible for using the iron wedges, before surrendering to her.
