As a southern bearded man, damn right he would be. He's the guy I want my daughter to date one day. Somebody who's 100% real, compassionate, and attractive. Yes, before you ask, I want my daughter to find someone she finds very attractive both physically and mentally. I want her to be a happy and healthy person with a healthy life. Dudes these days think you gotta be an ALPHA.. like the lady said, you don't need to tell the world you're a lion if you are one. Keep it real, folks.

Look dude, I would rather someone be a good partner and give me a 20$ ring than buy me a $10k ring. A ring is so insignificant to me. How my partner treats me and values me is more important to me.

I have to agree here. A cheaper ring is great, because although it is a material item, it holds much value for its significance. Plus it sends a message to other men and women (that they are serious and intend to spend the rest of their lives together).

I feel like the main difference between your content and other "dating experts" content is not that your tell me some "world breaking truths!" all the time, but that you say the things my brain knew, but just needed to rehear in a very understandable way. Your videos are not only relatable and informative, but I feel like your very skilled in personifying my thoughts and needs while at the same time breaking apart the questions I'm unable to answer, specifically about confidence and such. I'm partially introverted, but your explanation of "engagement not performance" hit so close to home. I just wanted to say, even if it gets drowned, your videos are so respectable, and I hope you realise how helpful you are, at least to me and my thoughts.

I've always felt that way about the whole engagement ring tradition; I personally don't like to wear jewelry, and feel that there's no reason to be spending thousands of dollars on a ring that's supposed to signify my commitment to that person. I would much rather have an "engagement house" or an "engagement car" or now that I've seen this tik tok, I would MUCH rather prefer to have a school built in my name. That's beautiful. That is love.
@vallano8970

My fiance got me a 90 dollar ring set from Wal-Mart, CZ, and people would stop me at work (I was a cashier) and show their husbands. It's an ascher cut vintage themed ring with pave stones. I love the ring, no one knows it's not made of diamonds. I'd be concerned about conflict over the diamonds if it was. I'd want conflict free stones used if I did get another ring.
@vallano8970
@vallano8970 4 жыл бұрын
@@uncleiroh4650 I know that's exactly what she means but that's still doesn't change the fact that it cost much more 💀 if you already had a home and u were letting her move on that's a given. But obviously not everyone getting married is going to be able to say "let's buy a house". I see no problem with it though if both people are paying for it considering that's kinda the whole purpose of marriage.

When I see a guy trying to act "alpha" I think either one of two things. Either 1 "I wish he didn't feel insecure in himself" or 2 "douche alert" depending on how pretending or full of himself he seems. Since discovering your message it's honestly just felt like such a relief to not feel like I have to act fake or anything like I did before. I especially love how in one of your videos you said something along the lines of "the best way to not be self conscious is to focus 100% on the other person". I just want to say thank you. When we got engaged my fiancé and I, we really talked it through. I also hate the tradition of buying a ring as a surprise. I showed him what I wanted, which was on sale, under a 1000$. He wanted us to match, so we found a great esty shop for his own engagement band. We did it like we wanted and to this day it was the best decision ☺

Imo your engagement ring will be one of the most valuable pieces of jewelry in your collection (next to your wedding band) regardless of whether your partner spent $100 on it or $100k on it. My dream ring would likely be a vintage one that was passed down from a family member. Also, like, screw diamonds; it's a horrible industry and most people cant even tell the difference between a real diamond and lab grown diamonds.

I love the ring tradition, especially when I see my grandma wear her wedding ring + the one she picked for her anniversary. She really cherishes those and I think it's an object that is very practical to have on you at all times- and reminds you of the commitment you've made. Yes, we can build new traditions and people shouldn't follow this tradition just because it's expected (though I don't think that's why the rings are still a thing). But I don't at all think it's dumb.

In my opinion, I’d rather save the money from the ring and expensive wedding to put it towards a BOMB honeymoon. Like a 2-3 month trip across Europe or something. It would make the event so much more special than buying an expensive ring and wedding and not having a memorable first experience with the person.

you know the ring is symbolic , it’s something you always wear and basically have with you, if it’s a good quality ring then it will probably last for ages, it’s really a good symbol of something priceless and strong. Also when a woman wears a ring she kinda shows every other men that she is taken and belongs to her one and only husband. Yeah probably you shouldn’t buy a ring that is ridiculously pricey so you can’t even afford it, but if it’s a gold and diamonds it will stay beautiful for ages really due to gold and diamonds do not get rusty or break, unlike silver or other cheap stones. So yeah buy your wife a beautiful ring and she will love it.
@lightshadowed

Honestly, the irony of the ring debate is that men used to give women rings to indicate to others that she's "taken care of" so no one else will make a move. Rings really only hit the mainstream in the 1920s, and I think war separation probably really influenced the popularity of the trend for the next 30 years, until it became tradition. I don't really endorse the whole wedding ring industry (plus I hate diamonds), but every guy I've ever dated or even thought of dating found this off-putting and wanted to slap a cheap ring on me down the line to mark me as theirs 😂

Pick up lines are cheezy, even when they would otherwise be funny in a video or something. They only "work" when the speaker is so ridiculously good looking that he doesn't need a line. Picking up on something in common, even if it's a stretch, is better. As a woman, I sometimes joke that my last best pickup line was "hello" but I'm an introvert and don't usually say hello first. But he was cute, and dressed up compared to everyone else there.

Marriage is about the person you are committing your life to. That's priceless in my opinion. Every successfully married person I know says they would of married that person with or without a ring.

I remember that I somewhere read about all diamond ring tradition. I don't remember years when it happened (maybe 1920? Not sure). Diamond fabric was on a brick of not being able to actually sell anything and their market strategy was "diamond ring for your only one or something like that''. Probably it's just something I remember from one of the books I have read and not true, but if it's true- it should be still somewhere in the Internet.

We also share the same feeling about extravagant weddings it’s honestly just ridiculous. We rather invest in the quality of life we want to be happy together, instead of a ridiculous things like a ring or a big wedding so people can say “ I was there”.

I noticed my problem is that I was so stupid to follow all the bad advices in all those tiktoks and other youtube videos. It really helped me that you explained that it just doesn't work that way, and that I just need to be me

A cheap but durable rings with nothing on it would be perfect for me. Your actions and the meaning of something is more valuable than the money you spend on me.

The ring tradition started in the 20th century when diamond companies made advertisements saying that only real men give a ring to the person they are proposing to, or something similar to that.

I wanted to add that for most women (at least that I know) the ring is the important part in all countries, but the cost isn't important. I personally wouldn't accept an expensive giant diamond ring, because I see that as wasting money that they could have put towards our house payments or the wedding itself.

When I got engage with my hubby we didn't want to give into all the wedding marketing traditions. The only reason expensive rings became a tradition is because of a comerical telling men to buy their rings for proposals. He gifted me a simple $400 dollar sapphire ring (my birthstone) that I love because it came from him and his beautiful heart.

Nice video! @Anthony Recenello what do you think about how far the younger generation can go with the trying to free oneself from the old and long overdue traditions in dating and building a relationship. Especially across cultural differences from family side like religion. For example: Christian to Muslim... Can the younger people just say: Well it's 2020 it's ok to get together or are there higher powers at play?

i think it's not the genders that have an advantage it just depends on what the personality types come together and who really has a better understanding of the relationship

I totally and completely agree with you on the wedding ring thing. I really do think it's kind of ridiculous along with a lot of other traditions. Like you were saying, if you think about it practically, why do we celebrate certain holidays and in the way we celebrate them. Like even birthdays if you really think about it practically.
