It breaks my heart so many kids go through this. I had completely unapproachable parents as a child myself and it was terrible. Earlier this year, my daughter told me she's BI. I asked her a couple questions and told her if she likes it, I love it. I hugged her and she went on about her day. When she walked away I cried a little bit, not because I was upset but because she felt safe enough to come to me. We have got to do better by these kids, every kid regardless of who they are is important and if we treat them better they learn to treat other people better instead of being closed minded and bigoted to things that seem different to us. We are all human and deserve to be treated as such regardless of our differences.

I'm trans. I DON'T want everyone to be trans. It's hard to be trans, regardless of the country you live in. It's hard to live with the feeling that something at your core is wrong. It's hard to afford the appointments for a psychologist and endocrinologist and everything else to try and feel better. It's hard to live with the fear that your family will reject you or not support you.... It's hard to live with the idea that you could be attacked simply because you're trans and don't "pass" enough to be undetected. Some parts of the US are better than others about this... but there are some areas I absolutely refuse to live in. Even when I need to visit those areas due to family living there, I'm always on edge and never comfortable. Am I a bit paranoid? Yes, I am. But, more and more surprising and horrible things happen every day. I'd rather be somewhat paranoid and safe than ignorant in believing everyone is incapable of great harm and end up getting hurt. I don't want every child to grow up with that I've had to go through. I'd prefer no one ever need to be trans because dysphoria wouldn't exist anymore. If I would wave a magic wand...

The only thing I heard hear was the truth. Teachers aren’t turning children gay or trans, when that student feels comfortable enough to voice who they are, the most wonderful beautiful thing is when they are accepted. Unfortunately that doesn’t always come from family, so if a kid feels more comfortable talking to a teacher about those struggles I think it’s a really amazing glimpse of why teachers really get into this job. Most teachers simply want their students to succeed (I know their are a few bad apples but for the most part) Teachers only want to keep their students safe and to help them to be their best selves. The teachers on strike right now, are mostly fighting for student rights, not even higher pay. They are over worked and Severely under paid, but are expected to devote their untied lives to these kids that aren’t even theirs, if they aren’t angels I don’t know what is!

I know a few 6 year old boys that was exhibiting so signs that they might be Gay or Trans. And seeing how their parents reacted was a wakeup call for me. So I told them this. I wish I could've had surgery that young. As an adult, it's very difficult to get to have surgery. I've been on hormone treatments for almost 4 yrs. I had to see therapist for 2.5 yrs to be able to obtain the letters for aproving surgery. And, I'm in California. This is a difficult process, but well worth it. I'll have my gender affirming surgery on Oct 31st. Next month!!! I can't wait to be able to do thing like use the bathroom or take a shower without anxiety.

Even if Rubin's dumb example of a teacher on teaching about gender and sexuality to his kid was true, does he understand how bad for his child would be in a situation in where his father would be in jail for murder his whole childhood. You know I grew up in a Time in the 80s when there was no information about gender dysphoria gender identity. it's not a choice to be transgender and it is suffering. I'm transgender but I also have an unknown muscle condition it turns out that the gender dysphoria whether it be stress or some other factor in it not treating it medically affected my muscle condition making it worse it got to the point where I ended up in the hospital three times each time I came close to dying. It's like that old saying three times a charm I realized that if I didn't tell my doctors that I also was transgender and suffered gender dysphoria even though I wasn't doing anything transitioning wise I still needed to be fully honest with my doctors otherwise I was going to die. Well it turns out treating my gender dysphoria medically that made my cpks from my muscle enzymes that made them go normal for the first time in my life nothing else ever worked. I sit in school when I was growing up thinking I was alone in this world not realizing that there were other people like myself. I would have loved to have had a book or access to knowledge about gender identity and gender dysphoria. burying your heads in sands of ignorance and hate not only harms you but others; simply causing more misery on innocent people. I didn't choose to be born this way but you are choosing to be ignorant and to be hateful. You know my muscle condition is pulling every joint I got apart and it's miserable and it's painful everyday and being born transgender is no different I'm trapped in a body that ain't me I'm trapped as a healthy person in an unhealthy body I don't think of myself as crippled I don't think of myself as the gender that this body is or think of myself as what I am I'm a healthy person trapped in an unhealthy body.

I'm really sorry you went through all that. Personally speaking I've been in love with a trans woman for the last few years and she's been going through some bad shit as of late. I know she wouldn't want me to talk about her specific problems to some stranger on the internet so I'm not going to, but she really put some of my own problems into perspective for me recently and it hurt so bad that I'm not fully emotionally recovered if I ever even will be. I hold out hope that whatever help I can give her is enough to see her safe and sound to a better place in life and throw myself into a job that I hate every day in order to work toward that goal. Of course I want her to appreciate what I do for her, and I want her to love me, but, what I'm really trying to say is that she is a wonderful human being and she deserves to love herself. She and I were born in the late 80s, so she probably had advantages you never had, and as someone who's not trans, I certainly have. But we have a responsibility to recognize the fact that despite all the tragedy and divisiveness of recent times, those of us who are part of the LGBT community, at least here in the US, have probably never had it better in our lifetimes. And we need to use that freedom to destroy any and all who want to bring back the bad old days, to protect ourselves, and more to the point, our loved ones. So yeah. You too sound like a wonderful person who deserves to love yourself. I'm really glad you were able to get treatment for your condition. Take care, be safe, and may the gods be with you.

Sex ed? To my 5 year old? They are convincing your12 year old that she is a boy and needs to change her name to a male one and she needs to take gender trans drugs that can prevent her from ever having children and then tell her that if she mutilated her body by cutting off her breast she will be happy. And they do all of this without telling her parents and in fact they tell the child to lie to her parents at home and when the parents come to the school they call her by her given name to hide it from her parents. Why the big outrage? These sick f---- belong in jail. If some stranger did this to your kid he would be labeled a sex offender and be put away. I suspect that your comment is made from pure ignorance which is no excuse.
