Michael Bay returns with the fifth movie in this everlasting franchise, and you'd think there'd be some surprises in store or some sort of reinvigoration to keep the audience interested, but... nope, same old bullshit except somehow worse.

They really only keep making them because China (but more so the global box office). I mean think about it - these movies make no sense story-wise... except for the first one... that one was actually pretty good - a story about a boy and his car. Think about this; the first transformers movie grossed 390mil internationally (not including domestic because domestic began to drop and international went up), and the fourth one made 850mil interantionally. That's a huge rise between 4 movies. That's why they keep making them and why they're so dumbed-down. They're for an international audience. Also if you notice, the majority of the dialogue sounds like ADR - easy to replace in post in any language. I would be surprised if they even employ a sound person on set.

Yeah... I get that it's made for mass general international audiences, but that doesn't mean they have to be completely lazy about the whole thing. For the amount of money the movies make, spend a bit more time hiring better writers or giving them longer to produce a better, more coherent script.

Great review! I was almost offended watching it haha. I understand its a transformers movie, but it doesnt have to be so bad! I just dont understand how this movie was approved after seeing the script or story. I really hope they stop making these movies!

Critical Flick thanks a lot dude appreciate the comment! Yeah, one thing I forgot to mention in the review is that I was bummed the whole 'Optimus Prime has turned evil!' storyline ended up accounting for about three minutes of screentime, the trailers made it seem like that would be a focal point of the story. I would've enjoyed an almost whole movie about Optimus turning evil and siding with Megatron and then how are the Autobots gonna save him? Oh well.
