@@nicoleloves9483 Exactly. I'm sort of a clean freak. So I clean all my dishes before AND after I use them. So it really takes me around 45 minutes to make a burger. I usually make 2 at a time, so that it's more pay off for so much work.
@janner20065 жыл бұрын
You're completely right about that but in my opinion, it's just not really worth it to make a smash burger if you don't have a griddle or cast-iron skillet. And sometimes you're on your way home from somewhere and it's just so much more convenient to get fast food on the way, or maybe you just can't be bothered with getting groceries since, I for one at least, do not regularly have ground beef in my fridge. Or maybe you're just extremely hungover and you just can't bring yourself to cook a burger regardless of how fast it actually is (mainly because of the cleaning you have to do afterwards). I say that fast food items all have a time and place to be consumed and purchased
@maybewise5 жыл бұрын
I just noticed you said "even on the busiest of days". :-/..... You must've never had an actual busy day, because I couldn't IMAGINE on a BUSY day going "I'm just gonna whip up a burger." XD My "burger", is heating up slices of ham and cheese in the microwave.
@Dogman_355 жыл бұрын
It's still cheaper to buy a $1.50 burger than it is to buy all the ingredients, unless you plan on eating a hell of a lot of burgers. That's the thing about cooking at home that really gets annoying sometimes. You're basically buying in bulk no matter what you make. Whole or half head of lettuce, a pound of ground beef, a whole pack of american cheese, etc.

A tip for caramelizing onions, (that I learned from BA lol). Add a little water to the pan if the onions are getting too brown too quickly. It cools down the pan and the onions reabsorb some of the water making it harder to accidentally crisp up or burn. Also not adding all your onions at once helps too. It’s worked really well for me and I used this method quite a few times even on different stoves.

Yo, you want to up your "thousand island" game? Looking for a secret sauce to wreck the rest? You should make the web's approximation of Raising Cane's Cane Sauce. You just mix the following until thoroughly incorporated: 1 Cup Mayonnaise 1/2 Cup Tomato Ketchup 1 to 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce (to taste/desired consistency but in this range, start lower) 1 Teaspoon Garlic Salt 1 Teaspoon Pepper (type is dealer's choice, but ground is great if you aren't sure) From there you can augment it with other additions to spruce it up. My favorites: 1 to 2 Teaspoons Hot Sauce or 1 Teaspoon Seasoned Salt or 1 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper Heads up though, you should make it as needed in the amounts you plan to use. It oxidizes to a not-so-appetizing color over time and the taste becomes off after two days in the fridge. If you don't know how much you need, just recognize the yield is just shy of 2 Cups, which is about enough for two burgers and a generous helping of fries for two people. If you're just going to use it for a single serving of fries, half it. For a single burger, you could probably quarter it.

A few good ways to season your burgers may sound cheap, but it makes for a flavorful burger. 1. Add either an envelope of either Lipton French Onion Soup mix or an envelope of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix to your ground beef. I use one envelope for every pound of meat. Mix well and fry them up. 2. Form your burger patty. Take a pat (one tsp.) of BUTTER and wrap the meat around the butter. 3. A variation of #2 and that's to put a few cubes of cheese instead of butter, I use pepperjack, in the middle of your burgers, and grill them.

Alioli (while similar to Mayo as you said has a very distinct flavor) is like the same price as ketchup, and there are about 7 different brands in one store of varying quality at really cheap prices (think the most expensive is like $3.00 for a huge bottle). Gruyere is not that expensive as it'd be in the states, a local bakery makes brioche although I could make my own like in the video too, there are butchers who will let me choose and grind my desired meat in store for me and caramelized onions come premade in a jar that costs less than a euro....All the same flavor for much less labor!

Here's the origin of aioli: The names mean "garlic and oil" in Catalan and Provençal.

Aïoli is a term from local languages between France and Italy (not sure). It's basically "ail"=garlic and "oli"=oil. So garlic oil, because in the original version, there is no eggs in it Sorry for my English, I'm French.

I can't watch you struggle with the caramelizing onions so much, David! The easiest and fastest recipe for caramelised onions is you melt butter in a pan, then add your chopped onions, a 1/3 teaspoon of sugar (to get out the moisture and sweetness from the onions) and salt, like you did, and cook them on low heat mixing from time to time until they come out nice, sticky and golden (caramel-y colored)! And about that aioli, it was originally created by just emulsifying garlic and extra virgin olive oil, and nothing else, that's why it's called garlic aioli, it differs much from emulsion of egg yolk and oil, which creates mayo. Aioli literally translates to oil. You just made garlic mayo, it's just fancy calling it aioli, when it's even not. 😂😂😂

Onions are already sweet, the salt brings it out. Plus, not everyone wants the extra sugar. If they are going too fast a splash of water keeps the caramelization going while preventing burning.
