This song doesn't have as much impact without the emotional context of the rest of the episode. I can understand why people recommended it, but I disagree that it's worth hearing outside of the episode. Personally, I'm much more excited that Discord is on your list! I just hope you'll listen to the original by Odyssey Eurobeat or the remix by The Living Tombstone before any other remix or cover.

This is one of my favourite songs and my favourite season finale. If you want some context, Twilight (purple/lavender pony with the crown) got an unfinished spell from her teacher to solve. She tried to cast the spell and thought nothing happened. The next day, she realised that the spell mixed up all her friends' cutie marks, and messed with their memories of who their true selves are. Cutie marks symbolize each pony's special talent (best I can explain it). Twilight then had to figure out how to fix everything, and the solution was to re-introduce each friend to their specific talent by helping the friend with the wong talent (hope this makes sense). This caused the friend to remember their true self and regain their correct cutie mark.

Rarity, I think, has the best singing voice of the entire cast. Whenever they do a song and they get to her solo part, it's like the most dramatic and inspirational part of the entire song! I think the writers picked up on that too and they use that dramatic focus to their advantage.

In truth “true true friend” It’s actually part of a trilogy of songs, “What my cutie mark is telling me” and “I have to find a way” come before a true true friend. And actually seem to complement each other to form a roller coaster. I would strongly recommend watching what my cutie mark is telling me and I have to find a way back to back. (and maybe re-watch true true friend afterwards) to see the true impact of the songs really. The first one is more funny showing the absurdity of the situation, The second one then hits you with just hope that the situation actually is and makes you feel bad that you were laughing before, That way so this song comes around and adds a little extra punch in seeing everything getting fixed.

Please keep in mind that these are songs more to tell the story. The talent these people have is incredible. Not everyone can sound like someone else while SINGING. Twilight's singing voice actress is NOT her speaking one. And it's actually a HUGE world with tons of lore. Watching the show makes the song better too. Since they're part of a story it's more meaningful and can be appreciated further and deeper when you know the full story.

So, this song is pretty much a perfect summation of the entire show, just in your face, unabashed wholesome Power of Friendship! Largly due to the episode it was in having been written under the assumption this would be the series finale. Rainbow dash (the blue pegasus with rainbow main) doesn't sing a lot, but her voice is really great and underrated (in my opinion). "I'll Fly" and "Do it on my Own" are two songs i like with her (the first is a solo ; the second a trio with also interesting voices)

​@@Infinite-sj9mj Personal opinion of course, so this isn't me being a jerk and saying, "You're wrong on the internet!" -- but this is one of my favourite songs of the entire G4 franchise. Maybe only "Shine Like Rainbows" definitely comes ahead of it; it's about level with the likes of "Smile" and "This Day Aria". Yes, it's quite a simple song even compared to other earlyish songs like "This Day Aria", _but_ for me, and again only an opinion, "A True, True Friend" is the song that best sums up what FiM is all about. _However_ I do think this song doesn't have its maximum emotional impact unless you're familiar with the series; otherwise you lose the effects of touches like the fragment of "Art of the Dress" and Pinkie's straight mane. Fan songs? Well, yes. They're not constrained by the various demands of a large multinational company that wants to sell plastic toys, a weekly 22-minute running time and a TV-Y rating. So it would be a surprise if some of those _weren't_ a bit deeper and more complex than any of the songs we've seen on the show.

If you're going into more MLP stuff. I highly recommend two back to back being "It's a Spectacle" (~1 min long) followed by "The Magic Inside" (~2 mins long). They follow the story of a young celebrity singer breaking free from her sleazy producer with the help of her old childhood friend. The two songs are designed to be polar opposites in production style. Plus, I think you'd find it fun to know auto-tune is canon in the universe lol.

I just noticed that the music changes and adds sounds every time a new pony starts singing and it tends to represent their personalities: Twilight/fluttershy: the guitar base (although with Fluttershy I hear a kind of synthesizer sound in the background) Rainbow Dash: cool drums Rarity: epic orchestra violins (or cord instruments) Applejack: banjo Pinkie Pie: tingling sound in the background + choir (it reminds me of the Smile Song) + wraps it all together No wonder I like it so much. Each instrument is present after it's added and contributes to the Harmony as a way to represent the... well, power of harmony

I'm going to pick "Say Goodbye to the Holiday" to be my main suggestion. I like a lot of MLP songs, but I'm most interested in your reaction to this one. Aside from it being a good song, there was a musically inclined MLP reactor (no longer on KZbin :c) who really praised this song. I don't know why I love this song but I do, it's probably the instrumentals because the lyrics are just cutesy cyclicle stuff and I can't share it with ANYONE because it's all little kissy. That's probably why we get so excited when someone else starts willingly watching the stuff btw, we have to hide our love for the show even though it makes us so happy to watch it and it's awesome when we get someone new to talk to about it. Also the plot is amazing and the lessons very very life relevant no matter what your age.

The songs from MLPFiM are great! Oh fun fact out of the main group there are 6 ponies, but only 4 actresses. Applejack and Rainbowdash are voiced by one person, and Pinkiepie and Fluttershy are voiced by one person. So they can sing in character and still sound distinct. Some of my personal favorites from the show that I think would be fun for you to react to would be: "Smile Song" but NOT the fan animation, the official one! "Luna's Future" which comes from an episode that is inspired by "A Christmas Carol" "The Magic Inside (I am just a pony)" Is fantastic. "Super Easy Cider Squeezey 6000" Was definitely inspired by "The Music Man"

If your looking to react to something thats both a bit longer as well as a bit out of your comfort zone; might I suggest the Pokemon champion rap cipher by cam steady which is a full 5:12 minutes long. Or the anime sharpshooter cipher by Rap Knight which is 7:36 minutes long.

So the thing with the instruments, is that in big group songs like this one, each character will have a sort of style to their verses, or when they get introduced, an instrument that represents them will join in. A much better example of the practice is probably "We Got this(together)" from the Movie, or the final song "The magic of friendship grows" where you can hear the instruments change as each character sings. Season 3 is about where Hasbro really started to try and go for Disney stylings with the horse music, especially after the success of This Day Aria from the seasons 2 finale, and it really shows in some of the numbers, especially during the movie, where numbers like Capper Dapperpaws' "I'm the friend you need" or Pinkie Pie's "One Small Thing" try to invoke feelings and imagery akin to "Never had a friend like me" or "Under the sea" If you want some more horse music before the big shift, try anything from Season 1 or Season 2 pre- This Day Aria Stuff like Giggle at the Ghosties, Winter Wrap Up, Art of the Dress, At the Gala, Smile Smile Smile, The Perfect Stallion, Find a Pet... That said, a good one from the season three two part premier is probably The Failure Song, and The Success Song. Also the song almost immediately preceding True True Friend, Find a way. But the full version, not the show version.

Hi David, I really want to see you react to the first ten episodes of Betsy Lee's web series "No Evil". She an independent animator with an amazing series that really deserves more attention. I've been watching it since high school and have fallen more in love with the series since. The first 10 episode run about 3 minutes each (save for episodes 9 & 10) and some have really cool musical pieces. Though I would suggest turning on subtitles for these first episodes since the accents are a little thick. To provide a little background on the story: Long ago, there was a mirror containing the magic of the Tezcatlipoca. The humans and spirits fought over mirror and who had the right to control its magic. To end this conflict, Tlaloc sacrificed his life to shatter the mirror. However, this merely split the Tezcatlipoca into four forms: Red, White, Blue, and Black. The Black Tezcatlipoca spread throughout the land, killing any plant it touched and sending any human or spirit it touched into an unwalking sleep. Before it was able to fully consume the land, four spirits came together to seal it away. (I ain't even gonna TRY spelling their names so I'm going with the translated ones.) To seal away the Black Ick, as it become known, each spirit made a sacrifice: The Flower Prince sacrificed his hearing. The Flower Princess sacrificed her voice. The One in Black sacrificed his sight. And Murder, the wielder of the Red Tezcatlipoca, sacrificed her life. With the Black Ick sealed away, for now, the spirit siblings spend the next several years seeking once who can truly defeat the Black Tezcatlipoca. Years later, it returns without warning.
