How did you end up removing the high pressure line? Mine is also leaking and it looks like the only way to get to the banjo bolt is to remove the reservoir and hoses. Is that right?

When I give by F250 gas as when driving I have power steering. When I am not pressing the gas I do not. This started happening after I got stuck in mud and had to rev the 4 wheel drive up to very high rpms with the pedal to the medal while going about 2 mph. What is broken ?

I need help, I am kinda gradually loosing fluid. But my pump is not making any noise. It sounds fine, and drives smooth. Quick story, my truck was completely disassemble and then reassembled (was rear ended pretty bad by military police, on her first day…) It’s a 2017 Tacoma. Brought my situation to the mechanic and they are trying to tell me I need a whole new pump which I do not believe. How could a pretty new truck need a whole new pump for a gradual leak, on a truck that drives fine/smooth otherwise. Would that likely just be a loose line?

thanks for the response. yep, the belt definitely needs to be changed. I think it has a bad tensioner as well, so I am going to change that out when I do the belt👌

The pump have to be making a sound for it to be faulty? I also don’t have any leaks but my power assist is just gone. Difficult to steer.
@DaylyDriverDayly4 жыл бұрын
it doesnt have to be making sound for it to be faulty. if it's making noise the pumps not getting enough fluid through it. is the steering loose or hard to turn the wheel?
@stephenaguiniga79604 жыл бұрын
Daily Driver it’s hard. I’ve had the car for about a year (mk4 VW gti) and it’s always been kinda stiff. I recently thought changing the fluid would help as the old fluid was black. After changing the fluid and bleeding it actually got worse lol. It turned without problems while the car was on stands but as soon as it was on the ground it requires alot of work to turn wheel

hey i’ve been having some problems with my power steering on my 99 tahoe and i was trying to figure out if it’s a hose issue or a pump issue. it sounds just like your vehicle when i turn the steering wheel, but i was wondering if that sound alone means it’s a problem with the hose or what. helpful vid btw

What if there is wetness all over the hose that come from the fluid reservoir tank?
@x_HarleyQ_x Жыл бұрын
This is the problem I currently have. PSF appears to be leaking from the hose connection to the reservoir, but neither the hose or the reservoir are cracked, so I can't figure out where it's leaking from. 🤔

Question.... does a loose/leakinh power steering pressure hose affect thermostat? Asking bc my thermostat would stay on cold even during drives and randomly show normal temp then return back to cold. Once I got the pressure hose replaced, I noticed my thermostat has been working properly.

a loose or leaking power steering hose wont affect the thermostat. you may have a worn out thermostat

I am having similar issues with mine as well, it makes this whining noise especially when hot. I just replaced the fluid reservoir and the short return hose. The high pressure hose has no sign of leakage but the fluid juts out of the reservoir. Could the high pressure hose be the issue or the power steering pump?
@verifymy2k-7706 ай бұрын
did you find out the issue? i’m in the same boat 😂
@olatundeaboaba6 ай бұрын
@@verifymy2k-770 Apparently these parts I bought were not OEM, that’s why I was having the issue. I got an OEM part for the reservoir and better quality hoses, for the long and short hoses connecting to the reservoir from the radiator area and everything was solved. Hope this helps.

The noise sounds like air in the system (although could be a bad pump). I don't see how a leak in the high pressure hose can draw air into the system (unless you run low on fluid - in which case that would be an indirect cause).
@DaylyDriverDayly4 жыл бұрын
I replaced the high pressure and return lines and refilled the steering system. now it doesnt make a single noise and runs perfect. the lines were soo bad that it was pissing fluid out causing the pump to he starved of fluid

Man this is giving me a headache. I recently installed a new power steering pump on my 04 Legacy. Turning is better initially, but the more sharp turns I make, the more the steering wheel gets stiffer. I popped the hood and realized there's a pool of steering fluid that's leaking from the top of the new steering pump, right where the lines go in. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could try next?

Does faulty high pressure power steering line makes steering tight too?
@DaylyDriverDayly4 жыл бұрын
if you aren't getting fluid through the system it can make the steering tight. if the high pressure line isn't sending fluid it will starve the pump which will start making noise
@OHTHATPAHADI4 жыл бұрын
@@DaylyDriverDayly The pump is making no such noise and there is also no leak but there is a point as I custom made the hose because I was unable to find one at the moment I needed to replace that hose. Soo can the custom made hose be a problem?
