Mother's Day! Mum is the greatest person ever and I am so lucky to have her, I don't know how she is so happy and strong, she always makes every situation a good one, and every person smile.
Egg, bacon, beans and toast.
Had a very chilled day, went for a walk and Blaze loved getting alllll the sticks! Satara made Mum an amazing card, I tried some new spread on tiger bread yum, and we got chips for dinner (omg not a roast yeah I know crazy!) which was a challenge, I had battered chips as well as normal! Also because I felt I annoyed people before so then it was easier for my head to mess with me well GO AWAY ED I ATE THE CHIPS AND HAD A HUGE SNACK lol editing is cringe but it even makes me think ok I cried but I am doing better than before, I am realising each time I panic that it is so silly and am able to then think realistically and it is hard but awesome!
A little talk whilst eating my biscoff bagel.
Monday was the day of the dinner that changed things. I didn't video anything all day on Monday but tried super hard and had a really good dinner, a proper portion, and before dinner I knew it would be hard but a great achievement and turning point so I decided to film it. I thought I hadn't done well because I cried, but that isn't true. Dad talked to me about it, and I didn't do badly or 'fail', I did so well, and I am glad! I am learning from every challenge and achievement, every success and hardship!
(also I have a bit of tissue on my nose the whole time lol hello supportive tissue thank you so much x)
On Tuesday I tried hot milk with cereal for the first time (so crazy), all bran! Mum said she used to have it a lot so I thought let's give it a go!
Made my first ever wrap for lunch it was DIVINE! Went into town and popped to co op, and got some food and yes wow I actually ate the food the same day!! I had a Marshmallow rice krispies square then wondered if chocolate was nicer...
cottage pie for dinner was amazing of course and duh I scraped the bowl, Blaze was being super cute as usual all evening and thennnn Mum and I did a TASTE TEST! Tried the Eat Natural bars, which are such a huge fear and I remember years ago wanting one and Mum loved them but I wouldn't have one, NUTS AND SEEDS AND JUST OMG IT WAS SO GOOD! And....... DIVINE CHOCOLATE! Literally - it is called Divine!
Hope you like the vid, a bit random just a vlog really filled with good food and good times and lessons and life!

There's something about your demeanour when eating that has really changed. Less hesistant, more easy and relaxed. You suddenly look like a normal eater - even though I know you don't always feel it. Love watching your progress so much. x

I wouldn’t go as far as to say normal, she still stalls a lot and cuts a lot of bits out and to say she looks like a normal eater could be a bit triggering as she still has a long way to go & improvements to make but overall I agree there’s a big difference! X

Elzani you're allowed to freak out and cry, recovery is hard. The important thing is that no matter how much you freak out and cry you still eat the food that's scary/do the things that scare you ❤️

Yes! This is what my therapist shared with me: You might have to fool yourself a little at first, fake it till you make it. If you are feeling nervous and are freaking out, just say to your self: I am very very excited and amped! How your body reacts to those feelings are very close together, it is how your mind perceives the situation.

i think you look much calmer when eating alone. maybe when you're feeling nervous about a fear food, eat it alone at the kitchen. at least for me it helps, everyone talking loud and eating makes me anxious. also, its so good to see your improving and facing your fears❣️stay strong! It’s crazy all the emotions that pop up by simply eating. Something that should be so normal is incredibly hard for us. Just remember it’s also very normal! Tears and all. I spent an entire day crying once and could not even say why. Maybe it’s our body’s reaction to actually having food and realizing we never should have been starving ourself. Thank you for making me think about this. Maybe it can help me try to turn things around.

Oh sweet lady, it's okay to cry. You can see the fear in your eyes, and my heart breaks for you. I'm so excited for you, and your future. You are getting better, even if it takes longer than you want. You ate that whole bowl of pasta, which looked amazing, and you looked so happy at the end. Your dad is right. It's not your fault. You're still learning, and it's okay to have a hard time while you're learning.

It is normal that your anorexia is freaking out about fear foods. But as long as you keep fighting and doing opposite actions it will go away. Also I found that in my recovery my mental state got so much better once I was at a healthy weight. Less freaking out, less worrying, less panic attacks and crying. You can do this I believe in you xxx

Chocolate is good for your recovery! They have a good amount of calories, which your body need now! I used to have exactly the same problem and I stopped having chocolate and switched to "healthy snacks", which has way fewer calories, and it made my situation worse because I couldn't gain weight... and now I let myself have cookies, pies, sometimes ice cream for my breakfast. LOL Just the advice from my experience. You are so brave!

Tabitha Farrar is the best! Her book will be so helpful for you and her podcasts and KZbin videos are straight talking and spot on. She has been where you are for longer and has completely recovered. It is so possible! Also I remember her saying that she had to force feed herself sometimes and cried whilst eating constantly. It is normal to cry and ‘ be annoying’. As you gain weight and your brain is nourished and rewires and as you make new neural pathways your mood will improve, you will have more clarity, the crying and upset will reduce over time. BUT it will be difficult and there will be bad days, because staying in your ED life and not challenging it will always be easier. Also your dad is so right, nothing is perfect, life can be hard but also wonderful. You will find new ways of coping and your family are there for you. Keep going Elzani. You can do this!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Elzani it's perfectly normal to freak out sometimes. Just allow yourself to feel it, and when it's over take a deep breath and continue eating. Just like your dad said, you're going to have difficult days, that doesn't mean that you have failed. In fact when you have those moments of severe anxiety but then you go ahead and eat your food anyway, you have succeeded!! You didn't allow your eating disorder to actually stop you from eating. That is the opposite of failure. I am so proud of you Elzani. You are making real progress, it's noticeable and undeniable. Keep going!! ❤

So lovely to see you doing well. One thing that helps me when I keep looking backwards or worrying about a mistake i've made I think about a 'next job mentality'. So if you got upset during dinner, have that moment briefly then focus on your next job... which is to eat your dinner, then after that your next job is to eat dessert. etc. The enjoyment, fun and peace you want will come eventually.

you’re doing amazing, i’m so happy for you. it doesn’t matter that you cry sometimes and freak out, all that matters is that the freak-out ends in you eating the thing you were freaking out about. the more this happens, the less you will freak out. just keep pushing and keep eating even more! also, you wrapped that wrap so perfectly i’m impressed 😂

You go Glen Coco!! You are making amazing progress Elzani! You definitely still have a way to go (especially in weight gain) but I can tell that all your effort so far is definitely paying off! Just imagine the awesome life you will have when you are fully recovered; so much time for friends, family, parties, travel, trying new foods and living life to the full! Imagine being invited out to lunch or offered a cookie and never having to think twice about it! I always try to imagine the FREEDOM I will have when I'm fully recovered (the mental recovery is definitely trickier than the physical) but I remind myself to live the life that aligns with MY values (memories, freedom, fun with loved ones, exploring the world, self acceptance, relaxing), not the values society forces on us (skinny, toned, "fit", model). Stay strong because I believe in you 100%! - Love from Issy (your coolest Australian subscriber😊) (P.S. eat the chocolate and the other foods, EAT ALL THE FOODS)

Accepting that you need to gain weight is such a huge step! It's also super scary at times because it's easy to forget what it felt like to be a healthy weight. But you remember the strength that you used to have, and the joy you'd feel whilst taking part in your favourite sports and hobbies. That's the best motivation you could have! And you looked so so beautiful and healthy in that prom photo - you were literally glowing! Keep going my love, you are absolutely amazing and are so much stronger than you think you are. This channel makes me so happy, and we all love watching you grow and express more of your personality. Lots of love, great vid! xx

I recently started watching your videos and can see such a huge difference in your mindset in the past 3 months. You’re doing so well!!! I keep wanting to comment because I’ve read a few books I think might be helpful... Dr David Hamilton’s ‘I heart me’ is amazing and is all about how your mind can heal your body and is all about self love. And another one which is a bit more scientific is called ‘the biology of belief’ which is more about the science of how our thoughts can influence our physical wellbeing. I think you might get them on audiobook too. I prefer listening to reading sometimes. I hope this is helpful and keep going with challenging those thoughts.

You're doing so so completely amazing Elizani!!! Keep going. Honestly you should be so so proud, I would be scared of battered chips and I'm fully weight restored well into 3 years of recovery (although I would still give them a good go ;). Honestly keep going, what you're doing is hard and yes you have to keep pushing and you need to get healthier but you're doing really well. It's honestly inspirational, after years and years of being frightened I've started eating nuts and nut butter as a part of my diet and its honestly amazing. Your strength inspired me to keep pushing even though I thought I had recovered. Well done, boi xx

Would you do a Q&A or a responding to comments section of a video? Would love to know you see our comments etc. Also, it is a common symptom of eating disorders to leave calories to be able to have a lot of food at night. Instead of waiting to have big night snacks, eating more throughout the day will help. After 10 years fighting this, trust me. Spreading the food out is more normal. X

Of course eating the calories is the main thing! But when you start to really focus I guess on normalising your eating habits, then you will see that NORMAL people eat throughout the day, not at night. I completely see where you are coming from. I used to only eat x amount during the day so I can have xxx at night. Progress takes time! I have changed that now, and you will be able too as well!

Thank You for sharing your struggles with us. It helps educate the public at large to gain true insights into eating disorders. Your courage to be publicly vulnerable is most admirable. Sending love and well wishes.

Elzani you have done nothing but improve, even through your difficult days. Your meals in this video look great and you seem so much happier lately. Keep going and remind yourself in hard times that you have so many people that care about you and want to see you succeed.

I absolutely love everything about you and your channel! Try to stop saying to are going to be better and you are going to totally change and try and say you will try your best to be better and you will try your best to change. It has always worked for me as you begin to realise that if you have a bad day it doesn’t matter as much as long as you have lots of good days!

well done elzani!!! It's not going to feel good for a while longer.. but there will come a day when you can enjoy your food completely. If it is making you freak out, that's a GOOD sign. It means the ED is being challenged. If you feel calm and safe, perhaps you need to push a little more? For example with the wrap, or the breakfast. How about adding butter or mayonnaise. Or cheese? You shy away from fats. Of course I understand why they freak your ED out.. but that's PRECISELY why you need to include them , a lot!! Be generous with spreads, butter, cheese etc. I believe in you. Only good things will come of it, I promise. Everything you want is on the other side of fear...

Gentle reminder that YOU are not a burden sweet soul, you carry a burden and that's something by definition that is too much to carry alone. Your family might struggle with understanding the nonsensical logic of anorexia at times, and that's okay. it's part of the process of working through this which you are doing with such grace (I know that might sound silly because recovery is a mess, but honestly, you are taking such strides, overcoming the challenges and the messy bits of recovery, and creating a life for yourself and it's rather beautiful to watch

Found you few days ago. You’re a lovely and kind sould and so your beautiful family. The only thing is that to get out from ED you have to stop being obsessed with food. The resolution is not talking about it anymore, focus on something else (your day, weather, things you need or want to do, study...). You should not talk about food but your life. Good luck lady! Big hug 💕
