DCS: How to set a Custom Theme

Yes. You can change the menu music as well. ((((PLEASE NOTE:: I HAVE HAD MIXED RESULTS WITH THIS, SO TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK)))) Load your desired music into a music editor like "Audacity" (Audacity is a free music editor software) and then save the music file as a .ogg. From here, make two identical copies of that .ogg file. Make sure you name one "MainMenuIn.ogg," and the other one "MainMenuLoop.ogg". Yes, you need both in order for this to work the way you want. If you don't make both, then you will still hear the original default music until it hits the end of the song, and then it'll cut to your music, or if you only do "MainMenuIn.ogg" and not the other, then you'll only hear your song once, and then it will go back to playing the default music for the loop. Once you have both files, place them both inside the following folder - C:\Users\[youruser]\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor\themes\main\Sounds\EditorMusic Then load DCS. Keep in mind, if this does not work for you, then you will need to troubleshoot on your own. As I stated above, this has given me mixed results, which is why this procedure is NOT included in this video.

You can also set the custom music in \MissionEditor\themes\main\Sounds\EditorMusic with .ogg files. The file names should be "MainMenuIn.ogg" and "MainMenuLoop.ogg" (Although I don't know if both files are needed). I have mine set to the Ace Combat 4 briefing music :)

Yes, they are both needed or it won't work. However I haven't had good luck with this. Sometimes it works. Others it doesn't. So I didn't include it in this video. Though, since you are the second person to mention it, I'm going to put it as a pinned comment with a disclaimer for people so I don't get people yellin at me that "It doesn't work for me!"

Any way of getting that 'dong' Top Gun theme music playing, or the Amiga F/A-18 Interceptor music was good too, very atmospheric.

Yes, you can place a music file into C:\Users\[youruser]\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor\themes\main\Sounds\EditorMusic The only prerequisite is that the music file needs to be .ogg format. This can be done in Audacity, which is a free audio editor. Just load the music you want into Audacity, and then export it as a .ogg file and place it in the editormusic folder. Also has to have the file name MainMenuLoop.ogg and MainMenuIn.ogg. However, please note, I have had mixed results with this, which is why I didn't include it in this video.

But wich resolution it must be to looking good ? Can be 4k or lower ? Because i downoald random photos and it's look good on page but in game it's loog blury

@@1Kapiii Im unaware of resolution restrictions. You'll need to play around with scaling it in paint or gimp or some photo editor. Just make sure it's a .png

The user theme is not just a wallpaper and loading pic, you can also select your own dcs menu and editor music.

I have had mixed results with music .ogg files in the editormusic folder working and not working. So I did not include it in this video. Otherwise I get tons of "It's not working" comments, and even have had other youtube channels make a video calling me out as a liar because it doesn't work for them. So I try to only include things in my videos that I know will work 100% of the time if you follow my instructions.

@@BogeyDope I understand your reasons, it is a pity that many users take DCS tutorials with a large amount of entitlement. On my case, I've never had a problem with adding custom music to my themes ... for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHaxfmWdnZ1roJosi=yAplgkzj5kmt844v (short video, to prevent problems with the song rights)
