Evidence of a talented mechanic is the ability to fabricate - problem solve - use parts on hand and assemble a running vehicle without going to the bank. Terrific content from a couple who know how to have fun one of the best sites out there.

Love Tri Fives. I was born in 1953. Had plenty of them growing up. They were my favorite hotrods. Grew up with them. Lots of my friends had them in all modified aspests.We use to race them on ice plant road. Great memories.

On a Tri- Five frame the holes for factory motor mounts , the forward holes ( further apart ) are for the V8 . The holes further back ( closer together ) were for the 6 cylinder . I'm still using the factory front mounts ( 327 and 5 speed in a 55 Chev ) .

Dan I like my cars on wheel dolly’s so they are a little higher and move side to side and front to back when needed. As far as the cherry picker change to hitch instead of bolts quicker,drill a hole on chain end so so you can hang the chain over the top without sliding off use another hitch pin.add more thru hole in between factory holes on adjustable tube.
@richardoswalt10092 ай бұрын
All my cars have stock manifolds they don't leak good pipes and mufflers sounds great, but of course you love the aggravation of headers.
@chuckschultz70282 ай бұрын
Consider modifying the engine hoist so the outriggers fit inside the wheels of a tri-five. Might also build a drop in bracket to go in between the outriggers to suit a bottle jack that could lift the frame a bit when needed to wiggle a motor into final position. A carb lift bracket with tilt adjust might also help. If you can't quit tri-fives, why not tool up to make working on them less of a hassle?

I’ve always over looked the pre seventies four door cars because I thought they weren’t cool , but now days all two door cars are very over priced at any condition . I looked at a four door Galaxie 500 that was in amazing condition , better yet it’s priced a third less and runs and drives. I think your on to something D&D Speed shop cool cruising on a budget.

Just get it running like it is and drive it. Its all ready to go you dont have to spend more money except for the water neck to get that pointed correctly. If you take out the fenders slush and snow will just ravage the whole engine while your driving and possible corrode everything up so it wont run. Get it running and modifi it later to all that cool stuff. Its a nice four door I have seen is a while pretty good actually. I really like it like it is. You can change up next summer or maybe never. Someone would probably buy it just like that. Paint the rest of it with the white Krylon it looks fantastic on the video I love it and the shad off it dont matter really its all good. Touch up the rockers with more of that cool paint. It deserves it. Such a cherry car it is so good it should stay original.

@shartne2 ай бұрын
why cant you just turn the neck the opisite direction to line up with the rad? the hose will compensate I think? maybe? just for a test get the correct one next weekend or something we dont want it to pop off that would be terrible. could cut the neck at the base and turn it just perfectly to fit. Depends on your ablilties to get not to leak. A heliarc welder would be nice to have, only cost money you can mod your welder to do it with some miller parts. We use to use miller for our art foundry I used to work at many years ago.
