BP was a really humble and decent man. They’ve never been able to replace BP & Ned . Real Southern Gentlemen.

Well Ned made the choice to retire and Benny died.......so they didn't have much choice but replace them.

Cj Buford It was already on the downhill slide. Mid 80s - 1996 was awesome. I remember the #9 running 212 @ Talladega. A feat that’ll never happen in NASCAR again. I was there for the “so called” pass in the grass and the #3 terrible crash @ Talladega. The cars made a hellacious sound when they passed in a pack . The girls were a lot prettier too. No fat tatted up hags back them. They was all athletic and in shape . No bellies hanging over hip huggers back then. Given that fact, I’d still take the racing from 2000- about 2005 over the garbage on TV today. I feel like vomiting every time I see PeeWee Herman driving the #18 today. I thought he got caught playing with himself in a theater somewhere.

I got into NASCAR in 1999 and LOVED it more than life and then 2006-2007 I really started to dislike the direction. I wish I had gotten into it sooner than 1999 if I knew 2007 and beyond was coming.

Yes, he did say 300,000 fans in attendance. They don’t have that many for half the tracks on the circuit now.

Crazy stat, that this was Harv's last Brickyard win before last Sunday. Also the last time a driver under 30 won the Brickyard...and it was Harv himself, haha.

He should have won in 2006 and 2007. At least he made up for it the last few years.

Bring this Indy back. The vibes, the racing, the crowd, all of it. Truly a crown jewel back then, and meant so much to the drivers to win. It was just as valuable as the Daytona 500 for awhile.

We had seats right in Section B for this, about 4 rows up, the absolute perfect vantage point for the peak of Harvick's epic burnout. It is a moment I won't forget!

33:19 - Speaking of heartbreak, shout out to Brett Bodine dipping into a little bit of crowdfunding for his car that weekend, people could plop down $500 to put their name on the special brick-themed car he ran, only to miss the race by _0.001 seconds_ in qualifying, according to Wikipedia.
