Drake is not a pure creative. he is a chameleon of culture. Managing to deliver lukewarm content that is adequate enough to remain in the realm of pop-culture. He isn't doing anything creative, he is riding on the coattails if trends in popularity. So, having reviews on Drake doesn't do much for the people hunting for truly innovative art. You are just servicing the curiosity of the people who can not be bothered to listen to the albums.

I feel like the “Old Drake” conversation is similar to what Lil’ Wayne went thru after the first 3 carter records. When Wayne dropped Carter IV, V, IANAHB, or FWA it wasnt the same music or aesthetic that fans were clamoring for. they wanted “Old Wayne”. Drake imo is going thru a similar situation. Had an excellent run with So Far Gone, Take Care & NWTS, but doesn’t replicate the same hunger or desire to escape his comfort zone on current records as hes done previously.

In my opinion, If Drake got on his BS and start snapping on some “5AM In Toronto” type of timing and switch up a bit of his subject matter for one album the quality would be much more better. With the amount of quantity we got from him every year with each release the quality has took a nosedive. Frank Ocean, J cole. Drake is afraid to take a break. Notice he was going to take one then immediately made the ep(best thing he's did since nwts easy) because he knew people were tired of him not trying. 23 tracks on fatd an all his features washed him an he spends atleast 17 of those tracks bitching about woman lol. Drake has no depth or substance to speak of. He shys away from all political an racial an financial commentary. Never has introspection outside of blaming woman for all his problems. 28:59 @Myke.. watch the videos for “Hotline Bling” or “No Guidance” or “Laugh Now, Cry Later” or “Life is Good” and you’ll see Drake tries to make himself a meme, or to be funny.. partially because he doesn’t take himself too serious, or maybe to get in front of the jokes about himself.. so yes, I agree with Rod, that sometimes Drake do make some bars to be cringy.. and because of that, I think he never wants to make a bonafide rap album because he doesn’t want the pressure, he likes having fun, and he’s got too much R&B in his blood.. his discography is always one of these vibes: For All The Dogs; For All The Bitches; For the lulz.. bruh made Way 2 Sexy 🤦🏻‍♂️

In terms of what people want from Drake? It's that they want a Drake that's actually hungry. What does that sound like? No one knows but Drake. But people can tell when Drake is phoning it in, and that's why people are largely dismissive of this project. When you get to a point where your songs are so interchangeable, that I can't even tell what song goes with which album (besides the mega hits) then I think there's an issue.

This album was rough to go through entirely. There's highlights I'll come back to, but Drake clearly needs to leave the "album-a-year" alone. Incomplete concepts that go nowhere, drawn out relationship drama, multiple genres used badly or nonchalantly to a tiring length. Separate from J. Cole, awkward feature uses. I mean, the album is called For All The Dogs, but the album cover is a "baby goat." For a supposed "hard" album of past relationship issues. 😵‍💫 Didn't feel like a culmination of a Top 3 artist's 20 year work or talent, more if a arduous hour- long drudge through Drake's DMs. Drake has made incredible music, not taking that away from him. But as Nick said, "McDonald's Music" is it. And Drake made a bad version of that. A #6 order with medium Sprite and stale fries.

I rate this album a 6.5/10. It's main issue is that the features and the production are the highlights of the album, and Drake is the least exciting part of the experience. Frank Ocean carried 'Virginia Beach', Yeat's energy & flow switch up was the most memorable part of 'IDGAF', and JCole absolutely WASHED Drake on 'FPS'. Drake's lyricism has also not evolved, and relies too much on mostly slick & corny lines with no substance besides maybe "Away From Home".

I agree with Ralph. We all want that 'rap' album from Drake which we should probably give up on now, but this album doesn't even have that bonafide hit. In the streaming era of course a few songs will go number one for a week or so just off the buzz, but that doesn't mean they are certified hits. This album is too long and has no replay value imo.

I don’t think I’ve come to a Drake record with lower expectations since this one, but it honestly exceeded them. IMO this is Drakes best project since iyrtitl, just for the fact that it was consistently average with a couple highlights. I don’t think it’s a good album, but I don’t think Drake is capable of making a good album anymore. There is no incentive for Drake to change his current methodology and unless he has some major change of heart over his break, it’s not reasonable to expect much more from a Drake album than this

Drake is going to have his “give the old heads what they want” moment eventually, most likely towards the tail end of his career But I will say that it is getting a bit played out his new “my albums are playlist” formula. I think for me this one works the least. Who knows 🤷‍♀️ maybe he’s been saving up joints, or maybe he really needs a longer break.

Dope review guys! Yo, I think y'all should check out Teezo Touchdown. Dude actually seems to care about his craft and has beautiful messages in his music. If anything, its just fun to listen to. He switches between rock, hiphop, RnB, and even throws in some funk here and there and it oddly works. Don't go into it thinking he's a rapper, but a dude who enjoys music and finding his own lane.
