"Who is the Police"? In the early 80s, the Police were the biggest band in the World! They had a whole string of hit singles and albums, from about 1977 until the mid 80s. The lead singer, Sting, went on to have a very successful solo career too.
@jennhurl
@jennhurl 4 жыл бұрын
The Police began in 1977. The lead singer Sting went solo in 1986 and has had a huge career. He is seriously talented. Yes, you've heard this song. Puff Daddy did record "Missing You" for Notorious BIG after his passing. HOWEVER!!!! Puff Daddy never asked Sting for permission to use the song. Sting sued him & won 100% of the royalties. Sting receives $2000 dollars a day or $730,000 dollars a year for it. Lesson learned. Always get permission.

@@rebeccalebeck9180 look at you, being funny. throwing shade at Sting for protecting his artistic property and rights. lol. People don't get to make $ for doing nothing, you're right. But it wasn't Sting that didn't do nothing. He created the music, the lyrics, the - well basically everything. Then someone else comes along - even if it is 3 decades later - says, hey I like that, copies it and puts it out as theirs and tries to make $$ from it. That's trying to make crazy $$ without doing shit. lol. Sting just said, "NO". As he should.

@@friendlyNemesis wasn't really trying to be funny. I just stated it the way I percieved it. I also said I could be wrong... In my defence, I"m clearly biased whenever Juice Wrld is involved. I've been in my feelings about it since his tragic passing in december last year.
@friendlyNemesis
@friendlyNemesis 4 жыл бұрын
@@rebeccalebeck9180 anyone's passing is a tragic thing - especially when they mean something to someone, known personally or not. So, that I can understand. However, I do think that looking at something so lightly and with such criticism shows a lack of respect for someone else's hardwork. Ask yourself, that in 15 years or even later, if someone came along and sampled out or decided to 'use' Juice Wrld's music "cause they liked it and it's been so long who cares now". They re-packaged it and sold it to make their fortune. No mention of Juice Wrld - no mention of his talent, his work, his anything. Just nothing. And this new artist's fans say 'who cares - why should he or anyone else earn anything from it now? It belongs to the new guy!'. Exactly how does that sit with you? I realize that it didn't happen exactly like this, but unfortunately it happens a little to close to this and too many people think it is okay ... until it starts happening to their artist and the music that means something to them. Honestly, I'd defend Juice Wrld's (even though - apologizes for this - I've never heard 1 song of his) music and the artistic rights that are his (or his estates'). From what I've heard about Juice Wrld - he was a very talent rapper and his tragic passing robbed the world. So - anyway - just sayin' it really it's a 'so what' kinda thing. Not in my opinion, anyway.

According to some people this would be considered cultural appropriation. Recently, some white person was under attack for borrowing a black song to make a song. And, a bunch of racists got all bent out of shape over it, totally forgetting this and the song by PM Dawn that borrowed white music. So, according to these racists it's ok for blacks to borrow white songs in their music but it's not ok when white people do it. That's some bullsh&t. I see everything.

The Police are one of the best bands of their time. They have a lot of reggae- and ska-influenced stuff, but very smart stuff all around, with solid musicianship. The Singer's Name Is Sting He One Of The Badasses Singers
@mikaelpeltonen96
@mikaelpeltonen96 4 жыл бұрын
The drummer Stewart Copeland named the band as The Police before there were other members. His father was a co-founder of CIA, his brother had a record label called International Recording Syndicate (IRS) and another brother had a talent agency called Frontier Booking International (FBI). On top of that, Copeland's last name starts with "cop" and he had a band called Klark Kent (as in law enforcer Superman). Looking for band mates, Copeland met first singer-bassist Gordon Sumner, who had been nicknamed as Sting (he wore black and yellow striped sweater he had received from his girlfriend and looked like a bee). Sting also means an undercover cop. The IRS and FBI guys were now his agents. Then Copeland and Sting met guitarist Henry Padovani and formed a trio. Their sound was minimalist and artistic so they preferred wearing black like British policemen. Afterwards Andy Summers replaced Padovani but the police theme was there to stay.

Sting (the lead singer) is brilliant at writing bouncy pop songs with deep dark lyrics and meanings. The album that this song appears on, Synchronicity, is full of examples. The band name originated in the 1970s because the American drummer Stewart Copeland grew up in Beirut where his father was involved with the CIA. His late brother Ian had a record label called IRS that launched a bunch of great 80s bands, and his booking agency was called FBI. Back in the day it was a cool band name...now I don’t wear their t-shirts out because I worry kids will not realize it’s a band...AND, this is important: the band participated in a tour benefiting Amnesty International (human rights organization) and Sting himself has been campaigning on behalf of the Brazilian rainforest for 30 years. Check out more of their hits!!

Written by Sting. Produced by The Police + Hugh Padghem. 1983. Sting: lead vocal, bass, synthesizers. Andy Summers: guitar, piano. Stewart Copeland: drums. The Police: backing vocals. Godley + Creme: direction of the video. Andy graduated from CSU Northridge in 1972. Stewart is the only American. 🇺🇲 Sting + Andy are British. 🇬🇧 The Police were in The Bahamas. Sting + Stewart Copeland were constantly arguing + laying temper tantrums. The infighting was so bad that Andy Summers left the house to look for help. Luckily, the late George Martin, producer of The Beatles, was nearby. Andy talked to George. His advice was relayed to Andy. Then, Andy returned. Sting + Stew stopped their bickering for the meantime. Meanwhile, Spandau Ballet was working on their album True on another side of the island! 😃 SB was on the rise! 🤯 1 year later, Sting met Spandau Ballet at the Band Aid recording session, London, UK. 🇬🇧 Yet, The Police was slowly breaking up. 😖😖😖 Sting + Stew could not even agree on how to play Every Breath You Take. 😖 This was a song on the final full studio album. Information c/o Andy Summers: I was at his book signing! 😃 Do not think of EBYT as only a stalker song: think of it as a break up of The Police + wishing the band was like it was on their 1st album. Sample. Puff Daddy sampled this. He made his rap into a tribute of Biggie Smalls. Guest singer is Faith Evans, widow of Biggie. RIP Biggie, Sir George Martin. Suggested next Police video: Synchronicity 2. 🎸🥁👨‍🎤🎸🎹 🇬🇧🇺🇲

The Rolling stones tell a story where back stage at Madison Square Garden, smoking some weed and doing some other things, when someone said the police are here, they started trying to hide stuff, they thought they were going to jail, but it was just this band

The Police, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic... a great song for you and your gf to listen to ❤️ There are some really modern chandeliers that are beautiful and expensive looking..... chandeliers are gorgeous.

Everybody thinks this is a love song (it's understandable), but it's actually about stalking. And the song you're thinking of is I'll Be Missing You by Puff Daddy & Faith Evans (feat. 112). That samples this song.

This was THE number 1 song of 1983. Sadly, it was the last album the Police ever made. They were huge in late 1970s early 1980s. A lot of people think it is a love song, but it is closer to being a breakup song. Listen to the words. He's Pissed and letting her know. Take it however you see fit. I know a couple who made this their wedding dance song. Go figure.
