As someone from New Zealand, you are more than welcome here. Just come to the south island (more land, less zombie population). Also, I grew up on a dairy farm, so I will be able to look after the copious amounts of dairy & beef cows and sheep that we have here. And, my husband is a mechanic/ firefighter, so we can't sacrifice him. Open up two cans of salmon, debone, and take out the skin. Mash it up with a package of room, temperature cream cheese until it’s a light pink paste. Add finally chopped celery and have it on bread, toast, bagel, or even a stock of celery. It’s delicious.

When my husband assembled our go bags, he included dog food in with our food, and then I kept noticing dog food on the floor below where the go bags were hanging. I would sweep it up, but never thought to check the go bags to see why it was leaking out. Turns out we had a mouse get into the go bag and helped him/herself to the dog food. So cleaning out mouse leavings was super fun. 😝😝😝

My 23 year old daughter and her boyfriend live in my Midwest basement. They are so so so so lazy with food. T can't even glance in her rooms direction. So no....surprise surprise...mice!! She has 10 month old kittens which give me great joy in delivering them to her. Fingers crossed real mice will shock her into her food trash problem. Ughhh. And now they come upstairs and get in my kitchen garbage cans. My house is TINY. Mice are the bane of my existence these days. They must breed so fast!!

We had porch pirates really bad for a few years on my street. But it's not as bad as it used to be. During that time, my husband was on a business trip and my Christmas present was delivered at 10am while I was as work. When he returned home he asked where I put the box (it was not yet Christmas). I had no idea a box was delivered and stolen. Some thieves got a really nice set of All Clad pots and pans. I hope their mama liked them, because they cook beautifully. I mean, why not leave a giant Williams-Sonoma box on the porch on a busy street a month before Christmas at 10am? Couldn't possibly be something expensive. Williams-Sonoma had to mail us a new set. I guess now I know why they cost so much, we are covering the cost of all the stolen boxes. 🤷‍♀️

In archives you are allowed to touch documents as long as your hands are clean. Gloves are bad for documents because you have less sensation in your fingers so its easier to tear them. If you read documents in the library at Oxford University you have to swear an oath not to take naked flames into the library. Out loud. While reading off a brass plaque. True story. In museums, we usually wear gloves. Most objects you have to wear gloves because the risk from the oils in our skin is higher than the risk of damage from mishandling. But sometimes the gloves are purple which is awesome.

Hello from Maine!! It is getting cold and rainy! Snow will be here in no time. My era is Queen Mary of Scots! I loved the show, Reign! I took archaeology, anthropology, and all the -ologies when I was in college. And then I became a business major so I could find a job out of college LOL If I could go back and do it all over again...I would have followed the path to learn about history.

The author is Robert Massie. So interesting. He won a Pulitzer Prize for Peter the great. Today was a fun watch! Thanks for that!

Have you tried to put your dining table in that "formal" dining area? It might divide areas up for better to clean in zones. Open area between kitchen and office. You could sell the chair on MP maybe the extra shelf back by fireplace. Consolidation of the homeschooling shelves. Just a suggestion.

Tinned salmon is great in sandwiches doused in quite a bit of malt vinegar and salt with cucumber slices. As a kid, we NEVER had tuna. According to my mother tuna was 'poor man's salmon' and she wouldn't be caught dead with it in her shopping basket. This was in 1960s 🇬🇧.

Hi Beth, just a few ideas to ponder, the little "feltac" you put on your dining room chairs probably won't stay sticking as the rubbing across the rug will make them eventually fall off. Then they will be gooey and need a good sticker residue removal. So why don't you put the rug in the "reading nook to make is cozier, and then maybe a few floor pillows to help encourage the kids there to do their reading.

15:09 is what I am living my life by now. "If your dishes fit in the sink, you don't have dishes to do." I am becoming quite adept at Tetrissing the cups and bowls into the sink so it's all below the horizon line.

Hey Beth! So there is a podcast called Storytime for Grownups in which the hose reads aloud classic literature and gives notes and explanations along the way. It's awesome. I am currently listening to Pride and Prejudice read aloud, and she talked a bunch about the social classes and the income structure of the Regency Era! You should give it a listen. I think you would think it's fun.

Canned salmon: 1: salmon loaf (like meatloaf) 2: add it to a salad 3: mix with mayo and relish for an amazing sandwich spread. Similar to tuna sandwich. Good with cheese on the sandwich too if you’re a cheese person. 4: fry it up with a honey garlic sauce and add it to coconut rice or regular rice with soya sauce
