Great list as always! I'm so glad ypu added Lykathea Aflame to this list, that obscure Czech band did something completely masterful in Elvenefris. From that same underground death/grind Czech scene I would highly suggest you to listen to !T.O.O.H.! (Yes, that's how the name is spelled, lol) If you like prog death with a healthy dose of grind they will blow your mind, specially with their second and third albums. I will also add some forgotten debut jewels related with the prog death here: In Mourning - Shrouded Divine. Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor. Gorod - Neurotripsicks (we could say that this one was from the band's previous name Gorgasm). Augury - Concealed. And following the rule of late 90s records that sound ahead of its time we could add: Quo Vadis - Forever... Anata - The Infernal Depths of Hatred. Martyr - Hopeless Hopes. These late 90s records pioneered the modern tech death sound alongsode Necrophaghist IMHO. Cheers from México!

I finally listened to Lykathea Aflame’s and Mithras’ debut albums today and I was definitely impressed by the former and thought the latter was decent. This was definitely the decade where tech death and deathgrind were starting to hit it big in the underground. I listened to Unhallowed a countless number of times. Saw them live at Anaheim and moshed to Unhallowed/Funeral Thirst. Also met Ryan Knight and Brian Eschbach before the show and got a photo with them (on top of that my classes were cancelled). BEST DAY EVER.

One of my top death metal albums of the 2000s got to be Aeons Bleeding the False. The perfect middle ground between old Decapitated and Deicide but with the sheer amount of hooks of a Corpsegrinder era CC album

I think that I would personally have put Origin’s self-titled debut album at least at great tier. You could be right though. I may have to listen to it again. It has been quite some time since I have heard it. They are a band that certainly has gotten better and better. Yeah on this list Bloodbath-Resurrection Through Carnage, Decapitated-Winds Of Creation, Psycroptic-The Isle Of Disenchantment, Ulcerate-Of Fracture And Failure and Dethklok-The Dethalbum are obviously all perfection albums on this list. Along with Necrophagist-Onset Of Putrefaction and The Black Dahlia Murder-Unhallowed (which I also agree are both perfection albums) those are easily the best albums on here. Though I have not heard everything on here and will certainly have some new music to be checking out as well. So apparently I cannot speak on what I have not heard. Arsis and revocation are noice. The EP called teratogensis by revocation is pretty good too. My song recommendations by Nightwish: 1. The pharaoh sails to orion and 2. Sahara. Nightwish deserves to be in A tier!

1) Bloodbath should be much higher. This record relaunched Swedish Death Metal and influenced all to many bands to plug into an HM2. 2) You left off Hail of Bullets - Of Frost and War. If for no other reason than the intro is arguably the best melodic and epic intro since Dimmu Borgir's Fear and Wonder. 3) It's not pronounced ""Hog-lan" it is "Hoeg-lan" 4) Keep up the solid work

Some of your selections are as you say, "hit or miss" haha but love the content. I always give them a shot, not just you there's a bunch of you guys that are inspiring me to make a channel since I just finished my grad degree. Nobody in my field of psychotherapy knows the power of walking into your shift as an inpatient psychiatric counselor and having extreme metal in your head. No one understands that when you have a psychotic person pacing in the QR (Quiet Room) and saying how he's going to kill my family, but in my head all I hear is "dead by dawn". Extreme metal is truly my therapy for a therapist

I’m surprised JFAC isn’t on the list. They’re probably one of the most prominent death metal bands formed/starting to release albums in the aughts, and they were really good despite being popular with the Hot Topic crowd. While they started as deathcore on Doom, they were basically straight death metal when they released their debut full length.

Antithesis by Origin is really cool, but they’re not my favorite. In some ways, they’re the representation of robotic brutal tech death to me. Groups like Dying Fetus, Cryptopsy, and Suffocation nail that brutal tech death style with fantastic songwriting dynamics
