As much as I disliked the Rob Zombie take on Myers, I laugh when people say he ruined the franchise. This movie was awful and the director's commentary on this just made it more infuriating. Rosenthal got a kick out of the improve kung fu stuff Rhymes did so he kept it in.

Wow, I thought Decker was about my age, but now I feel old... The "pre-smartphone smartphone that somehow works" is a Palm Pilot. They were a thing. A very big thing. It's the thing that all the hipsters said iPhone was ripping off when iPhone came out. They were discontinued because "touch-screens had no real use on a phone and just made it unnecessarily expensive". People didn't want a phone that cost more than $50 back then... In the pre-2007 era, before the Big Depression... During the height of the Great Bubble... when people were bathing in cash. Now when nobody has money, we have no issue spending $500-1000 on a phone. It was also criticized for being too big, because the trend at the time was for phones to get smaller and smaller. Then, after 2009, people realized you could get porn on your phone and the demand for bigger screens came. Now we want them as big as we can get them. Preferably, we'd be walking around with a $1500 55" touch-screen TV in our pockets that we cannot afford today, when back then we wanted a 1/2" $10 key-padded folded phone that would get lost next to a pack of gum in our pockets, when we could freely afford brand new computers without even having to think twice about it.

With a title like Halloween resurrection they could have gone with a sort of split personality / possession with Lori's son taking over Michael's roll. And that overall the different targets having to do with it not being the original Michael. They could have explained the reason why he was back his mom's hometown the classic discovering his roots or that he was The Tech Guy for dangertainment and just happened to be going Haddonfield for their next gig. Being the resurrection part being the Michael possession / personality taking over completely as soon as he entered the house.

While watching this, I thought of a few idea that they COULD'VE used instead of this garbage. 1.) Don't make another one at all. (Well... H20 made a $55 million dollars so uhh... that's not gonna happen.) 2.) I know it didn't happen but try the no Michael Myers idea again: There's so many original ideas they could've done with something horrifying happening on the Halloween season and could've made a great avenue for smaller unknown directions to make horror movies that would be seen by more people than it most likely would have otherwise. I know they originally wanted to for this movie's early development so why tf didn't they do it? 3.) Laurie is enjoying her retirement after finally stopping Michael Myers like maybe she wrote a book, and has a new rich boyfriend. (Like her character in Freaky Friday.) But back in Haddonfield, murders start up once again and the town's teens seek out Mrs. Strode to come back to her hometown to help. Laurie, now taking a Loomis-like role must help them stop the killer who might be Michael or might just be a copycat who's been overly obsessed with Michael for years. (Kind of like the killer obsessed patient in this movie's opening or a Riddler-type nerd.) 4.) Maybe wipe everything completely for a new start and establish a fully new cast of characters who are attacked by a new killer who's built up as Michael throughout the film only to subvert your expectations in the final act. 5.) Maybe after killing Michael, Laurie begins to have a mental breakdown with psychotic thoughts like if Michael successfully broke her. And once Halloween rolls around again, she KILLS someone. Maybe her son or some trick-or-treater who happened to come to her house at the wrong time. She gets locked up in a mental asylum and murders of patients begin there as well AND it raises the question: Is Michael alive, or has Laurie gone full-blown insane because of her fucked-up life? It could be a great character study of what happens to the mind after 20 plus years of torment as a survivor that's so tragic and more psychological instead of blood-soaked slashing that could also make Michael scary in a new and modern way. (So yeah, basically a more thought out, better made and white horseless version of Rob Zombie's H2.)
