Hey everyone! I noticed a lot of people asking how we're going to disinfect the trees. For pieces that are too big to fit in the oven, the best way to clean them off is to pour several rounds of boiling water on them, followed by a dousing of either F10 or chlorahexadine, and finally, several hours in the sun on a day with a high UV-index. :)

That and let them dry in the sun, preferably on a rack of some kind. The sun is well known for its ability to sterilize things. And if it's just a branch and not a whole log you're trying to sterilize, you might be able to boil it in a huge pot of water(at least that's what I do for my fishtanks). It's okay if it sticks out, so long as you turn it over at some point so every part gets the treatment. Boiling is great at getting out tannins(which you may or may not want, depending on the style you want in the water, if you want that tea-stained look, don't boil them super long), but be warned that I don't know if it's recommendable to do that for a reptile enclosure even if you dry it out.

Can I just say this is such an amazing thing you guys are doing The only have one official zoo here but it’s horrible The animals are so abused and mistreated If an actual animal lover came and built a zoo/store here i would have gone every single week Not only are they animals well taken care of and happy but the staff know what they’re doing AND you guys never spread misinformation I mean truly,,, I wish every animal related place was like this! So incredibly cool

As soon as your done with ( i believe you said m1) just have a bucket of water and put them in there directly after use. It should keep it soft all night so you can use soap and clean them the next day.

For your picnic table idea, you could just get regular tables and then swap out the outermost boards or the bench part for something with a live edge to match your benches!
