when he said he has not match the salary of the previous job he left and that this year was probably the year he would come close to it and that it has been five years shows how real the risks are. Often the people interviewed are probably already earning more than their previous job to have someone on the show that has yet to earn way more than their corporate job somehow feels inspiring and the content gives so much insight. It really shows the persons motivation behind the thing he does. Love this podcast!

I think your decision to leave medicine, in order to pursue the KZbin career, is actually a noble decision. You might only help a couple hundred people as a physician versus millions online as a self-help creator. Millions value your content. I wish, wish, wish I could be all-in the way so many of your other listeners seem to be, I truly do. Like many of them, I am at a crossroads in my life, too. But, I'm afraid the realities of the practical and emotional risks associated with entrepreneurial ventures are being under-emphasized. The loss of a person's life savings and the trust of family and friends are two serious potential outcomes that come to mind. 😕 I wish I could have the blind faith that so many other people seem to have. I am near-desperate to make my way out of my own existential crisis. Thank you for what you and your team do. I am truly grateful. 🙏

I totally agree with Paul. In the hyperactive world, we are in today, money is everything that matters. The world is run on money. You exchange your money for goods and services of your choice, but some people are too shortsighted that all they see is money after getting a job and not realizing that they aren't actually satisfied with the field that they are in.

He's right, the people that say they want to escape 9-5 slavery but fear the unpredictability of income, or outcomes will not make it and just aren't cut out for it. Matter of fact they probably already know this themselves.
@yungbootyheadmcgee2 жыл бұрын
It’s tough when you have a partner with shared dreams and goals that will be dramatically effected by the unpredictability. As much as I want to escape the 9-5 life, idk what I would do to do so. What is worth the unpredictability. How can I know it will be worth it if it’s so unpredictable. I actually already gave up a career once for a specific job and I wasted a whole year and the company fell through and now I’m back to square one kinda forced back into this lifestyle for the time being 🙄 So what does not cut out for it mean?🤔
@AkashLovesFights2 жыл бұрын
@@yungbootyheadmcgee If you actually want to escape it - find a 9-5 with more flexibility, especially if it can be remote and work on your side hustle and scale it every waking hour that you're not at work until it meets or surpasses your 9-5 income. This can take even up to 3-5 years but when it comes you'll have location and time freedom. But tbh, you already know this but are probably not willing to nor will follow it.

Build your “escape” when you aren’t working your 9-5, so that you can one day leave it for good. Small daily compounding actions. You don’t need to know the full path.

Hi Ali, thanks for this great topic. I'm really curious what truly motivates you to stay engaged and committed to working as a youtuber for such long? Do you ever feel that after x years you come to realise this is not really what you are after? What do you find changed if any, when you look back at what you thought motivated you initially vs what still motivates you now?

I'm assuming Paul does not have a spouse or children. Perhaps he should specify that up front. He could state that his book's target audience is people like himself. I delivered twin babies twenty some years ago and had my husband and I opted out of the excellent health care coverage he received as a scientist so we could have pursued a more meaningful career in the arts.. those babies may not be the healthy young men they are today. What can work for a single person, is not necessarily what will work for a couple or a family. What do you think, Ali?

Hi - I listen to Ali and watch him on youtube and on his podcasts meeting different people - I watch them all - A LOT - and have enjoyed everyone of them so far - and also read all his newsletters and emails. However, I was listening to this episode on Spotify while doing some NEAT at home this evening - and I could not finish the episode - I struggled the first hour - it was all due to the inanely repeatedly used filler word 'LIKE' by Paul Millerd, who obviously is an author!! To me, this was pollutions-level - and not humanly acceptable! I am sorry!
