Delicious Cabbage Rolls // Amazing comfort food Step by Step ❤️

The best way to describe Cabbage Rolls is just plain and simple, comfort food at its best. This amazing dish can be served anytime of the year and the sides are endless. When we're having family or friends over i often think of Cabbage Rolls because they are easy to prepare and they never disappoint, and kids love them. One of the the reasons i love cabbage rolls is because you can serve a few or even a crowd, and because they can be prepared ahead of time and they also freeze well, and you just can't beat that, you can freeze the cabbage instead of boiling it if you like but I've always boiled it without a problem and i like to use the left over cabbage for a salad or coleslaw. I hope you give this dish a try. ❤️

INGREDIENTS ______________
1 Large Cabbage (core removed)
1 Tbsp Olive oil
1 Small chopped onion
3 large Garlic cloves (finely minced)
3 C. Crushed tomatoes
1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
Pepper as needed
Salt as needed
Handful chopped fresh Parsley
1 C. Tomato Sauce
Non Stick Spray
MEAT FILLING _____________________
1 1/2 lbs Lean ground beef
1 1/2 C. partially boiled rice
1 Handful freshly chopped Parsley
1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
Pepper as needed
Salt as needed
1 egg
SIDE OF YOUR CHOICE

Rachel, your cabbage rolls also look delicious! My grandma from Hungary showed me how to make her version of Hungarian Cabbage rolls! She taught me when I was first married and in my 20’s! I am now 75 and still make them the same way she did! So delicious!!❤️

My mom made cabbage rolls for Christmas Eve dinner from the time she was a little girl helping her mom until she was 95 yrs old. She died at 96 just before Christmas in 2019. That Christmas I made her traditional Austrian/German recipe with Sauerkraut and pork tails and hauks. My family was sitting at my dinning table admiring the turkey and cabbage rolls. My sister commented the only thing missing was the pork tails and pork hauks just as my husband brought them to the table. My guest were in tears as we ate. I am the family baby, 25 yrs older than my sister who was born in Germany and born in Canada, yet I was the one who leant my mom's recipe. I had my mom, stepdad and nephew over for Christmas Day dinner for 28 yrs. I'd make cabbage rolls without the pork tails/ hauks because i dislike them. My 34 yr nephew (who was raised by my mom and joined her in heaven in 2022😢) claimed my cabbage rolls were better then my mom's! I'd add spicy Mott's spicy Clamato juice and drained saurkraut to the sauce and some of the cabbage juices and a bit of the saurkraut juice to the meat mixture.

You should try freezing your cabbage then let it thaw. It's perfect for cabbage rolls and no burning involved. Been doing it like this for years and wouldn't go back to boiling. Oh...love your videos and everything always looks so delicious.❤

Yummy. Thanks Rachel. For those who love saurekraut, you can buy a whole head of saurekraut cabbage. My Grandma just rinsed it - no need to boil it as the leaves are soft. Find it beside the regular one. Love it but it makes me thirsty as all-get-go.

M'mm I can smell that from here in Canada :) I grew up in a Mennonite home ... I add a shredded potato to the cabbage rolls, and boy, does that ever make the cabbage rolls moist ... My grandmother and mother both did the cabbage rolls almost to yours, the difference is the rice is fully cooked, but from the night before. This is how I still make them to this day.
