This is what my dad would make every Sunday morning before we went to Church. Every Sunday he had his hands in the meatloaf. He would put it in the oven by the time we got home from church it was done. He passed away on March the 12th 2024, he was 94. I miss the meatloaf Sunday dinners.

Lol I was just thinking, I want her to be my mom. I love my mom dearly but her idea of cooking was to toss some boxes of broasted chicken dinners on the table when she got home from work. But that woman could scrape some burned toast like nobody's business. Every morning the sound of the butter knife, cht cht cht cht. All to salvage half a piece of bread from the charred toast. 🫤

Hello Rachel, It's March 10, 2022, and three days ago I made this meatloaf just as instructed. I made the mashed potatoes and a green bean casserole to accompany the meatloaf. I took two plates over to my neighbor. Last night I got a text from her thanking me again for food with a comment that the "meatloaf was OUTSTANDING." I replied, yes it was so tasty and said we have "Rachel Cooks With Love," to thank. This will be my forever meatloaf recipe. Muchas Gracias Querida!!!!

I'm 50,lost my mom 17 years ago and my wife passed 12 years ago...never had good meatloaf since then...but it's in oven now and smells great...your instructions were so easy to follow.. You get alot videos where they wanna put a twist or do something special to a classic staple and I'm not on that LVL .I just need easy,taste great and filling. I'm so jealous of my co workers who bring in left over from family meals and I'm eating take out or something wrapped in plastic. This will help alot ,,this is a few lunches every second week. Now I need to find a good mac and cheese and a goulash cassarole. I'm going to search your stuff and see what you have. Thank you so much.

Thank you, Rachel! I love it! I make is as my mother used to do it, i put a layer of the prepared meat in the loaf pan, then I put a cooked full carrot (or two) and boiled eggs, cover this with another layer of the prepared meat. When slicing the meatloaf to serve it, you get slices of the eggs and carrots! It is much fun especially for children to see that! And more nourishment!!! 🥕🥚🥕🥚

Thanks so much for you demonstrations and thorough instructions. My family says, "oh you are such a good cook". I am not really, But, I do know who IS and that's you!

Just a tip: if you make extra sauce like this, separate it before spreading on the raw meat so as not to contaminate the extra with the spoon. I usually cook my meatloaf in a shallow dish and spread all the topping on it because that's my favorite part! You gave us lots of good tips and I love watching you cook.
@elza18302 жыл бұрын
Very important advice (also on the way raw eggs are handled: not putting them on surfaces, the cutting board, where bread, salad vegetables etc. are then prepared; washing hands , with soap, not just wiping them, after splitting eggs, before going on to touch all other food, cutlery, bowls ; in recipes where eggs remain raw, sauces, creams, per se risky even with precautions, washing and drying the eggs immediately before use so as not to contaminate the content with bacteria on the shell - whereas washing them when not used right away is not advisable) (another frequent very popular habit in cooking shows: dipping spoons in the food, tasting, "mmm..", dipping again - ugh)

Rachel, I tried something for the first time on Thanksgiving. I peeled a dozen large cloves of garlic, finely diced, a stick of butter, and 1/2 cup of EVOO and fried them on a small pan for about 20 ninutes on a very, very low flame. Towards the end of the whipping process of the potatoes, but just before adding SnP, I added this mixture of prepared garlic to the taters and finished whipping the potatoes. WHAT A HIT. All my guests asked what I had done to the spuds!!! I had also brined the turkey. Fed 14 young and old alike. My wife even said that was the best part of the entire mean.

I break the raw meat up in crumbles rather than dump in the whole lot. I cook my onions on the stove first, and let them cool completely. Then, I layer my ingredients in the bowl maybe two times. That way, I don’t have to over handle the mixture. I also add about a tablespoon of tomato paste to the mixture. You might want to try that. Thanks for the recipe!
