One of my favorite jokes from him was: A great way to start a conversation is to ask, "What's your favorite color?" A great way to end a conversation is to ask, "What's your favorite color.......person?"

Yes. Most comedians tell a story to get a joke and it's anywhere from 30 seconds to 6 minutes. His jokes go by SO quickly that he has to come up with waaay more! Which is really amazing and impressive.

chesterbesterfeild No, you're right. All the people in and out of the business who think he's funny are wrong. You are correct, our mistake. If you don't find him funny, that's fine. You have a right to your own opinion. But don't belittle people because they find him funny or otherwise be a twat about it.

chesterbesterfeild chesterbesterfeild If you have studied comedy, you'd know that Demetri's comedy appeals more to the intelligent crowd. Where his brand of comedy is more haha funny than the majority of American comedy, where comedians are just reacting to youtube clips, making jokes about hookers and blow, jacking off, being a minority, being white, and just trying to be ridiculous with their musical acts or antics.

@@DesVenin I mean remember that art is subjective. People have their type of humor. Maybe this isn’t the type of humor chesterbesterfeild enjoys. One liners are the best because the jokes are straight and into the point. The ones that are longer such as anecdotes/stories. Sort of like Gabriel Iglesias’ are good as well. But you have to keep the audience’s attention through the whole story. If you mess it up, the whole joke is ruined. Also one liners give you different sensations before you get the punchline. For example: “Instead of “for example,” I like to use words such as “such as” for example.” It’s smart, funny, and to the point

Take my wife, please. Everyone just uses it like that but doesn't it require some setup? Just "Take my wife, please." isn't really much of a joke but if you said maybe something like "Some people drive me crazy. Take my wife... Please!" Now that's funny. You can't start with "Take my wife." No one says that. No one says "Take my car." or "Take my dog.". It's not natural language. You have to set it up.

I'm usually not a huge fan of stand up comedians, most stand up comics cant actually make me laugh out loud but demetri Martin certainly can make me bust out laughing. When I was in like 8th or 9th grade I bought a CD containing his standup comedy and I downloaded it onto my ipod and i listened to it on an airplane ride and I'm sure the people next to me thought I was crazy because I couldn't control my laughter.

My favourite Demetri joke is when he says he likes to put loads of messages in bottles, then toss them in the sea. Then he goes down to the beach later and creeps up on people as they find the bottles and read the message. Because the message reads: "I'm standing right behind you".

Demetri used forearms for the skull and crossbones. If these were turned into bones, the forearms would each have TWO bones (radius and ulna). The more commonly used bones for the symbol appear to be the femur (upper leg), humerus (upper arm), and tibia (1/2 of the lower leg). I know this is nit-picking, but anatomy!

Regarding short jokes, Jimmy Carr has his wonderful "venison's dear, isn't it", and "dwarf shortage". Both a play on words. I love Demetri, and maybe his "if I" is the shortest palindrome?

I love both of these guys, but I can't even watch it through to the end cuz Colbert just shows zero appreciation for his drawing jokes and keeps rushing through them, moving to take the card away before the audience even reacts to the joke. He must've been seriously pissed at Martin for something.

I like him, seems like a nice guy, I think the concept of combing The Far Side type single panel cartoons with a stand-up is a great one, but for whatever reason I'm not a fan of his humor.

Least words in a joke could possibly be the one where you just say someone's name. It's awful, but technically works.
