48:50 That’s a nice little touch, having a character from each game appear in the chamber after you’ve finished theirs. Still, it pales in comparison to the recurring sight of MICHAEL REYNOLDS VIRTUAL HORROR LAND ILLBLEED.

Ratings! This 'disk' seemed to have two types of games, with one exception. Those being 'Really heavy subject games that are disserviced by being, yknow, a demo." or "boy I liked 'old game' i want to make something in the style of 'old game'." I understand both that A: These are very personal games made by one or two people, and it's their story and what they want to tell and- B: These are demos, which are, by their nature, short. But it really puts me out of a game when you jump IMEDIETLY into textboxes explaining how heavy the subject matter is. Jumping into 5 minutes of old landlady transphobia and how much all of this sucks doesn't make me empathetic it just exausts me and makes me want to not play the game. Because they're demos I know they can't spend the time to build up the charecters so that I have a sense of who they are before I know how hard the world is on them, but still. I get that I'm more supposed to be upset and empathetic for the real people that go through these things, and I understand, but, these kinds of games just don't work for me. An outcry and Drowning Machine both get a 'I don't really want to experience this game in any way' Fiend's Isle looks like 'Kings field with a good FPS but also no sense of exploration.' which also gets it a meh. Pathogen X looks like a newgrounds game. I'd play it and have fun with it but i wouldn't call it anything special. Lorns Lure is the stand-out here. The sense of atmosphere is fantastic, and the choice of 'downward parkour' serves the intense lonliness and exploration into an infinte abyss so well. Plus 'android exploring something he doesn't understand that's drawing him into unknown depths' is a good hook- it makes me want to unwravel it. This is the one to beat. Lunar Effect looks like a servicable silent hill clone- it looks interesting but we'll have to see how/if they incorperate combat. I look forward to seeing more of it.

@schuylersterling3 жыл бұрын
No I don’t get ads that often what’s your browser?
@sapphiresage53393 жыл бұрын
I would recommend getting uBlock Origin extension or some other ad blocker that works on KZbin ads if you're able to. KZbin slams so many ads into videos now that they're pretty much unwatchable without an ad blocker. If you don't want to because of "creator revenue" then don't feel too bad since KZbin barely gives even a couple of pennies of all the video's ads worth to creator channels for ruining their videos and in SGF's case he already has a day-job to support himself streaming or no streaming. Lack of worth from KZbin revenue is why many content creators turned to Twitch subs/Patreons for funding rather than depending on Twitch/KZbin ads.

An Outcry was like 80% fluff and 10% horror. It was pretty boring. most of these games seem to be lacking a sense of horror to them. Most of them were like an indie game using nostalgia as a incentive for playing it.

An Outcry was my personal favorite of this go-around, and my reasoning might be shallow but it's almost entirely because the protagonist isn't just trans, they're very heavily coded as AMAB nonbinary. Pretty rare, and something I really appreciate as an AMAB nonbinary person!

Lorn's Lure is definitely the stand-out. It's interesting, original, well-done, and not self-indulgent. That mascot is awful. I commend it on how well it portrays Vienna being an epicenter of melancholy and a brooding oppressive reminder of the eventual end of your existence, but that's probably like an in-joke only residents are privy to. In any way, it lacks an interesting hook yet - or maybe, what we saw was supposed to be a hook, but it kinda fell flat for me. Even now I don't have a solid grasp on what the actual game is gonna be.

Totally. I don't even dislike it, really, but it seems like a very odd choice to put "front and center", being so... Humdrum, navel-gazey, not traditionally scary, and an RPG Maker game to boot.
