Hi . I only found this video about my wordlist thingy because it was mentioned on the Llorg forum (language Learners), but I like your presentation. I can see that you have 5 columns, at that actually means that you can integrate the repetition round - that's a fine addition to my own version of the method, where I keep the repetition separate from the original list. And doing the whole thing in a spreadsheet is also an interesting idea, but I personally learn more when I write by hand.

Honored to read your comment on my video! I think my adaptations of your technique have translated well to a classroom environment, where I can print a bunch of copies and students know what to do. They like to fold the paper so that they only see the last completed column. Like you, I believe that writing the words out by hand helps them stick better. Lately I've been using the Iversen method with Hungarian words that resist repeated exposures in context. I'm happy to know that my tweaks have helped spread the word about your excellent technique.

Thank you so much for such a great demonstration. I've had a similar level children's book in Korea for about a year or two now, but never could remember the vocabulary after using flashcards. This is such a great process you have and it makes me excited to try reading that book again.

Yes, please give it a shot and let me know if it helps. Korean is a cool language, isn't it?

Ruben Quinones I absolutely love the Korean language! I’ve been trying to learn it for several years now though, and so far the only thing that really helped me much was actually going to language school and talking to classmates in Korean. I’ve really been looking forward to reading books though since I can’t afford language school at the moment. I’m definitely going to try it out after my college homework dies down haha

@@peachywyvern7999 The great thing about language school is the pacing. Classes force you to keep up, whereas you'll sometimes find yourself slowing down when you're studying on your own, just because the material is not so interesting, or other things get in the way. I have a weekly tutor right now for Hungarian, something I've never done before. Having that to look forward to every week has been getting me through this pandemic and has forced me to make steady progress. Thanks for you comment on this video. I've been using it a bunch this week after you reminded me of how simple and useful it is!

The placement of the O in front of Swedish words works like the English UN. As in Sure / Unsure. Säker / Osäker.

To study arabic, do you write the transliteration in the 1st column, cover it, write it in the original script, and then translate to english in the same day? Or can you do that one column for a day and later move on the next column in the next day?
@RubenQuinones16 жыл бұрын
I would go English --> transliteration --> Arabic. Then on the next day, back to English, and on another day, back to Arabic. You don't need the transliteration twice, but think of it as a stepping stone the first time. That would be L1 - transliteration - L2 - L1 - L2. Try it and let me know what you think!

which one is better Anki app or this method

I prefer this method. Holding multiple words in your mind helps you recall them when you need them later.

I am struck by how much German influence there seems to be on Swedish vocabulary, even if much of it is more Low than High German.
@RubenQuinones12 жыл бұрын
I had studied a bit of German, basic at best, but I felt it gave me an advantage when I took on the Scandinavian languages. I'm sure the reverse would be true if I were to return to German.

its ok but I think you get the same results with the flash cards in anki...and as you can see it's more approachable for nouns. Try it with verbs :D
