Wow! Thank you for sharing this video. Love the music, it fits perfectly. You always inspire me to go out and shoot more often and to find those random artistic pieces of decay.

What a timely video! I finally had the cops called on me for doing night photography tonight. The officer was very nice about it and seemed to know what the situation was before he pulled up. I find it particularly odd that in an era where everyone is constantly photographing everything, it is somehow disturbing if you do it with a camera that can't make phone calls. I also just ordered myself a musical keyboard, I have realized how big an impact music makes when I'm out taking photos. I feel like if you can align the two it really helps you see the photos you're trying to take. So I always have 'vibe' music playing that aligns with the feel of the photos I want to get and it motivated me to attempt to create some of my own. I felt like the music you used really added something to the photo presentation that has been absent from previous times you've done it in videos and I think it's a wonderful idea.

Andrew! THIS is the most beautiful, most meaningful piece of work you have ever done, in my humble opinion. The music fitted so absolutely perfectly to your astonishing images and video. I’m not going to lie, it brought tears to my eyes, my friend, and I am so glad you’re doing this full-time now. Your reviews are fantastic, but this is other level stuff. Do more, maybe for clients if you want to go that road, but do more. Consider yourself well and truly commissioned! 🤩😍

Having been hassled by my fair share of Police, the thing I actually find most disturbing is that she relaxed when you told her you were doing it for profit. Like...is it criminal to just do street or documentary photography just because? I guess what I'm saying is, I don't like how everything in our society becomes ok as long as it's for profit. I feel it cheapens the inherent value of the photography itself; the act of recording the reality of our environment simply because we want to. Perhaps I'm romanticizing photography too much!

US law enforcement is peculiar to say the least. They don’t get enough education or training. 21 weeks is the average length in the USA. Compare that to my home country Sweden were police are trained for 2.5 years, then are mandatory paid interns for half a year before graduating. Still we get less friendly officers here to.

Usually when I'm confronted by someone that is upset for whatever reason that I'm taking photos the first question is usually about if I'm doing it as a professional. I'm not sure why people ask this, but it is my hunch that what they are actually looking for is oversight. If you're doing it for a job then it must be okay because someone is clearly monitoring your output. It's a control thing. Those people are made uncomfortable that they do not have control over what you're doing

Things like this use to happen to me all the time, but lucky for me…most officers know me by name only because we know each other. Small town vibes are a whole different ball game as you might know everyone know everyone in these small towns. Night time photography has its moments and your photos you captured look amazing! Great job buddy! Stay safe!

Impressive work. Happy to see you able to concentrate on an artistic project more fully than your Fuji channel permitted in the past, where algorithm metrics forced a lot of hardware reviews (which were well done but not the same as out-in-the-field photography).. This video, enhanced by the music of "Everything Fades," is a good format for presenting your series of well-crafted southwest decay photos.

God forbid you're out in PUBLIC, existing, doing nothing illegal. Best response is "am I being detained?" - if no, then go about your business and ignore them. If yes, keep your mouth SHUT. It is not illegal to exist in public, no matter what time of day. They are trained to be suspicious, and to try to trick you into admitting something suspicious.

Couple things. First off I love how you're not afraid to crop it however you like. I am also super into the music, but not surprised on how it turned out with what you paid. I'm assuming you'll use these tracks again. One and done seems pretty expensive.:P
@AndrewGoodCamera Жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely. The Everything Fades song I may use as a sort of intro/ theme song. Haven't thought it through yet. And as for cropping, the 65:34 is near and dear to my heart. That's the ratio I'm working on my photo book for.

Loved this video. Beautiful mix of the how and why and then the final result. And thoughtful integration with your sponsor (congrats!). I wasn't there, so obviously I don't know how the interaction with the police officer actually went down, but from a distant perspective, it's not necessarily a bad thing that they are doing their job to serve and protect their community. And documentary photographer isn't easily understood by most people, but everyone knows and understands KZbin.

Andrew, you capture beauty in decay... I wonder how this project makes you feel, seeing this decay... Do you think these communities will revive or continue to decline? ...thank you always for the inspiration.
@AndrewGoodCamera Жыл бұрын
I think many rural communities will revive as remote working trend continues and folks look for more affordable communities to live in. But not all of them. And either way, the layers of decay will either rot away or be built over.

Yes, nights are mysterious. Nice experience and thanks for sharing however nothing wrong with what the police officer did. A lot of burgeries happen by people who are out at the wrong time and then have something that is in their backpack, handbag, or put in the car. In fact, my neighbor can witness how 4 times his catalytic converter was taken, each time for no more than 35 seconds of stay! btw did you mention you do modeling photography during the weekends too?! ;)
