,Hello Kathy, I am a Iyengar Yoga student and teacher for many years. I find more and more as I age (76) I need these abdominal poses to support my back . I adapted the poses and found the flow light and inviting. Thank you for the simplicity and so helpful instructions.

Your instructions and the method is subtle and full of patience !! 👍✨ Can you please take a session on Paschimottanasana ?? It's the basic Asana and the most difficult to achieve the perfect form
@DesaYogiIyengarYoga2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kalpana, thanks for the suggestion. Well noted! And you are correct, patience and a good well rounded practice. When I began so many years ago this pose was near impossible starting from dandasana. Day by day our practice gives us what is needed. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hope this is ok for people with a cervical problem? Also in the final shavasana I always find my neck/lower back is constricted despite the bolster. Would really appreciate your advice on this.
@DesaYogiIyengarYoga Жыл бұрын
Hi Tara, depending on your problem all must be aware of the cervical area. Please explain more of your specific condition. Generally if you have any concerns, take the rolling back and forth slow without compressing the neck or putting too much pressure. When doing a shoulderstand place a few blankets to lift the shoulder from the floor and have space for the neck. The rest of the postures should be nice to get an extension while releasing tension. Always with cervical challenges, you want to keep the tops of the shoulders descend to maintain space in the neck. Lengthen the neck and be aware of the crown lifting upward in an upright position. Tell me more about your “cervical problem”. Namaste
@tarakartha4186 Жыл бұрын
@@DesaYogiIyengarYoga Thanks so much for the detailed reply. As always, your minute instructions are really helpful. Ill revert on exactly what my cervical is about ( have to ask the doc) but was wondering if placing a blanket to just below my shoulders when doing shavasana would help. I really need to do shavasana effectively, as I believe it’s enormously useful for the nervous system. Thanks again.
