As a Bucs fan all I can say is I am happy the Browns did what they did because Baker is a legit franchise QB. Yes he did just throw 3 INT's against the Saints (which have one of the best defenses in the NFL) but he did get 4 TD's, and kept plays alive allowing us to win and give our defense a rest so they could continue to play at a high level without being overly fatigued. Also it seems like Baker has matured as a person drastically since his last year with the Browns.

Just a few short years ago the Chiefs played the Texans. The game was billed as great young QBs go head to head. Watson vs Mahommes. They were putting Watson right behind Mahommes as far as potential. Crazy the difference a few years make.

Former fan here too. Followed Baker the heck out of that dump. Finally had something to be proud of. Most fans i know were done with Baker and said too short too inconsistent too cocky or just sucks. Some couldn't get over the flag planting. I always thought the physical side of it was there. My opinion was he needed coaching and teaching footwork mostly. He went through turmoil so i thought give it time experience, stability and learning getting better. As much as we hate to admit it, we have to give some credit of Watson’s success in Houston to Bill O’Brien. Yes, the man was a terrible GM (and HC in some respects), but O’Brien was a decent offensive coordinator who got the most out of his QBs. All the quarterbacks that played under O’Brien in Houston had the best statistical seasons of their careers. It also says a lot that DeAndre Hopkins hasn’t returned to Houston since he was ingloriously traded, despite DeMeco Ryans being able to use him. But Houston used the haul of picks they got for Watson to rebuild the team into the playoff caliber team that it is today, and they shredded the Browns to pieces in the 2023 Wild Card Round, with Watson on the bench.

This is why the old school owners knew what they were doing when they rarely gave out guaranteed contracts, and those weren't usually fully guaranteed. What the Browns need to do is address a "diminished skills" clause and force Deshaun Watson out. We have seen "diminished skills" utilized in sports before and Watson seems like the perfect candidate to lose his contract under the diminished skills clause. Not sure what the Browns are waiting for, but maybe that would embarrass Deshaun Watson enough to either start playing better, or go to court and see if he loses. The Browns have to try and do something, simply putting Watson out there every week is a slap in the face to their great fans.

Let's be 100% honest here. He got caught up in an underground sex ring that ran under the guise of "massages." Ever since then, he's just not been the same. Not to mention that Stefanski isn't using him right. As soon as Watson was able to play since his suspension, he's had him running the spread, when he's not even a spread offense quarterback in the NFL. He's a one-read QB placed in an offense where the coach hasn't a clue to his player's limitations. This offense was built to play power football, but you've got a coach who INSISTS on running a 5 wide with backup tackles and the best run blocker in the league at RG and wide receivers that can't get separation, they're precision receivers. So his bad performance isn't just on him.
