I saw a Tik Tok of D1 and started to tear up. Remembering not having adult problems waking up early for xur and getting called crazy by my parents. Grinding vault of glass until I got the vex. Being one of the first people to get the gjallahorn. I’ll never forget my raid group of how much fun it was to find new ways to do the raid shortcuts and what not. Then I remember they dropped the second destiny and having a message pop up on my screen and I haven’t played since. I regret not going with my team to D2. But I’ll always remember all the fun I had and hopefully after college I can get back together with them.

I remember seeing the commercial of the 3 humans landing on Mars and it starting to rain. Buying the game literally thee next day and watching the main cutscene with the music....I was hooked. This sounds really bad but I was uninterested in playing any other game for almost 3 years. For me It just seemed as if the game got better with each year. AND THEN D2 came out. So much hype and for nothing. I was so disappointed with D2. I'm sorry, we all have our own opinions but mine is that D2 was a piece of garbage. Didnt have the same feeling like D1.

@@shymikey1987 I can explain that. Ver simple actually: Bungie changed the art style. D1 was a perfect combination of sci fi, fantasy, and post apocalypse genres. From the music, armor, characters, architecture, environments, weapons and enemies all the way down to the ui. D2 changed that, it's too unorganized, certain armors are too sci fi and some too fantasy and others too post apocalyptic, same hoes with weapons, enemies and other things in game. What d1 had built was lost, d2 lost the soul of destiny. I could go on and on about the art style being retarded in d2 and how basically perfect it was in d1, but another thing to point out was the lack of post launch updates for core activities in d2. Strikes have shitty loot and are a downgrade from d1. Raids are less fun and less rewarding. Crucible is less rewarding and lackluster both at launch and probably now too. The open world patrols and such barely get any updates, besides lost sectors but c'mon that's it. The core of destiny's content is barely being worked on. Destiny 2 fixed the problem of content droughts, but at the cost of quality. D1 for all it's faults knew what it was doing. D2 is just a fan game, a lot of the creative work force from bungie back in destiny's OG development have left before or during d2's development. The people updating d2 and creating d3 are a joke. They don't know what destiny is, the people that knew what it was have left. I can assure you that d3 is gonna suck ass. By taking any leaks as an assurance, d3 is gonna be a grind fest for hardcore players with still less content at launch than it should be. I hope I'm wrong.

Not criticizing anyone but it seems everyone that was talking mad sh*t about destiny 1 is now holding it in a pedestal and saying d2 is rubbish, even the story. Back then anyone saying any pre taken king story was good was almost publicly executed. A lot of people do make lots of good points which i mostly agree with but i also think the nostalgia does a lot of the talking (myself included) and what we miss isnt the game itself but the experiences we had with other people. No game is ever going to replace that, not even if destiny 2 was the game of the decade.

I think it's more about the tone of the game and the overall aesthetic of the destinations and the QoL stuff that D2 doesn't have but D2 does. Almost every character in D2 always tries to make a very crony and cringy joke and the overall tone of the missions and dialogue doesn't seem that serious. And most of the planets are very bright and colourful compared to D2s dark gloomy and mysterious looking locations

I don’t mind destiny 2, destiny 1 was my childhood though, I’d play everyday after school. This character building, looting, raiding, pvping and the idea of these aliens with fortified strongholds housing powerful foes was amazing. It was our job to protect the city and face these threats. Also the small things in D1 I really miss, there’s the special in secondary and kinetic in primary felt easier to build my arsenal with. The difficulty as well I was fearful of pushing yellow bars, that was a challenge. The skill trees as well were so much better than premade trees, there so much less customisation of your guardian, the character you want to level and become the most powerful you can.

This brings back such good memories!! I'm thinking of starting a new D-1 character too!! I never understood the flak D-1 got during it's early "vanilla" days. I ALWAYS thought it was the greatest game EVER!! I didn't discover it until right around the time The Taken King came out. I had only been gaming for a couple of years, and I started late in life (I wish, now, that I started younger). I tried a bunch of games, mostly WW-2 stuff, and I was having fun, but NOTHING GRABBED ME the way Destiny did!! I was a very casual player, but this game made me an addict !!

I was year One, day one, Banner of the Ancient keeper, Old Guard. There is a feeling you can't replace, listening to the soundtrack, meditating to it while you're farming in patrol, for 4-6 hours a day, no raids, no strikes, no crucible, no nightfalls, no party. On a dial-up speed connection that could fail at any time... With no DLC so everything was mystery behind locked doors.... And no multiplayer subscription, so everything took three times longer than it should have... it forced you to enjoy doing it the hard way and feeling proud that you did it by yourself, it was so large and empty and every stranger that you met was like a monument because you didn't know where they came from it was a single-player experience with other people occasionally passing by.

@@4am446 Even the graphics/ art style in D1 is better, in D2 it feels more like Borderlands in the sense that it looks more 'cartoony' if you get what I mean. Destiny 1 was dark and gritty and it made you sense the power of the enemies you were facing and the challenges ahead. I still remember every day I'd log in at 10am GMT ( I live in the UK) at daily reset, and complete all Vanguard and crucible bounties on all 3 of my characters to level my factions (New Monarchy weapons were God tier) Yes the levelling system was flawed along with a plethora of other issues, but the feeling you got when you received an exotic from a Nightfall or Vault of Glass, I had never experiences that feeling of Euphoria in any video game I had ever played, and quite frankly I dont think I ever will again sadly

The actual 10 year plan rumor came from a released Activision/Bungie contract stating they would make Destiny 1-4 over the course of 10 years. For some reason people have wrapped this into "destiny 1 will have 10 years of content and its all already been planned out, even before release"

I'm a Forsaken player and only played D1 once, and when watching one of your videos I decided to buy and download D1 and play it. I hope I find some people to do the raids with which are the thing I am looking foward to the most.

Other than the obvious, There are so many little things that hint at how bad of a place destiny 2 is in compared to destiny 1. I remember back in the day d1 was consistently up there on twitch as one of most viewed game there , all through the droughts. Meanwhile d2 has all these content appearing every month but no one is watching d2 streams. None of the people i knew who played d1 , which were a lot , most of the people who played the game in my country in fact , which isn't that many compared to other countries but still a good number. These people worshipped d1 , but are completely absent from d2. Every season in d2 i went through and deleted members because they were all inactive and invited new ones. All these little clues paint a very clear picture that destiny no longer has massive loyal following, only smaller groups of players who come and go

GodDamn Arshia I enjoy destiny I’ve been playing since the betas I’ve played both the one for destiny and destiny 2 I’m sticking with this game until Bungie chooses to shut the servers down I’m sad some people don’t enjoy it as much as I do but I’d rather have fun than complain about a game.

There's probably a better example for this metaphor, but for a lot of the people still sticking to destiny, there's no point of reference on how good other games are so they stick to destiny without suspecting that there are much much better games out there.

I did this before destiny 2 launched and it was the best time I had on d1. I've recommended it to everyone who missed D1 since and everyone who had committed all the way through shared my opinion of it being the best way to re-experience destiny 1.

I really hope someone emulates D1 onto PC. I played D1 from year 2 on PS4, then played D2 but then built a PC in 2018 and restarted on there. You can't beat the feel of it. If D1 was on PC I would genuinely cry of happiness

Even with all its problems and issues i still prefer D1 to D2, just put a few of the QoL improvements in and thats all we need. the omnigul strike was my fav by a mile. cant wait to see you battle that one out.

I got Destiny as a birthday present when I was 8 or 9 for the Xbox 360. I was so excited. I spent half an hour trying to defeat that Arkon boss because he, at the time, had a large health pool. I eventually completed the game. I didn't get any of the DLC because I had no money. I was so obsessed with the game that I would draw on my sketch pad dozens and dozens of fictional Cabal ships and land vehicles because I thought the Cabal were cool. I'd post them to Destiny-focused Google+ communities with my old Samsung tablet. When I got the Xbox One S a year ago it came with Destiny 2. I played it a bit, but didn't complete it because I had lost interest. Little did I know it would become free a few months later. This video is so nostalgic.
