Just a random connection..... Nezarec's sin is void themed. Tormenters and Psion's both use void abilities. Also when Nezarec talks about shadows it reminds me of void abilities such as shadowshot and shadowdive. Probably nothing but still pretty cool...

I had a news broadcast that said along the lines "experts think nezerac is a psion because of their similarities" After seeing another comment stating you can see a tormentor statue wearing the nezerac sin helm in the opening cutscene. Nezzy may have created the tormentors (think like the exo frames) for the purpose of when he died he could be "reborn" into one. That may also be a link for the void power and the "imprint" names for tormentors.

I will say, the buildup to Nezarec over the last year or so of content has been fantastic. I was really hopeful they weren't done with him after Season of Plunder, and so this is so refreshing. This is the quality buildup, context and story that was missing in the campaign. This makes the raid seem far more weighty and connected, and I love that. All the teases around neomuna makes him feel so menacing.

In my opinion, they botched Nazarec. It’s clear the new riders did not understand what he was supposed to be. Originally you can follow all the breadcrumbs and he was one of the first light bearers. Most evidence points to him being a leader of the pyramid race. The Eldritch race are the ones that whisper whenever you go into pyramids. Some of the smaller lore KZbinrs have slow down all the voices and you can hear all the way and season of the arrivals this ancient race arguing over what to do and ask for help and say that they are trapped. They mentioned a ton of old gods names from Egypt to Mesopotamia. Basically, the original story was a long time ago guardians started springing up. When there was enough of them, they built their para, causal ships and left earth. Nazarec who didn’t have a ghost, was the first to revive himself without the l needing a ghost. So it to lose the fact that he might’ve been the first dark wielder. So the fact that they make the witness superior to him or have him tract is insane to me. They had to change this because the witness had to become the big bad because of their poor writing . Basically, they pushed the lower back so long that it painted them in a corner. They wanted to monetize so many seasons, and they knew they were not giving answers fast enough and lowering player base. They had to do an over reveal which was the witch queen to bring people back . Now Nazarec it’s just gonna be some raid boss… where, in reality he was supposed to be the big bad who wasn’t that bad.

My theory is that way back in Shadowkeep, the artifact from the end of that campaign contained a piece of Nezarec's consciousness. Then, we brought it into the Black Garden, at which point the Sol Divisive attempted to extract him before he escaped into their network. Then, at the end of Splicer when we killed Quria, his consciousness took control of the existing Taken occupation, and has been lying in wait for a chance to escape.

It’s really interesting too how the Tormentors only use void attacks. Just like how Nezerecs sin rewards void kills for the wearer. I think it would be amazing if they used Nezerec to flip the whole traveler vs witness perspective on its head. You see, the witness believes they’re doing a service to the universe by creating the final shape. It talks about bringing salvation to the universe, and how it wants to very clearly end pain and suffering. One could even say that the witness seems almost benevolent from its own perspective. And then take Nezerec and the traveler. What if, Nezerec full on worships the traveler and is even blessed by it in some way. The way he’s described is as this awful being of pain and suffering, but also a protector of existence one can turn to in the darkest hour. He might feed off of pain and suffering, but he’ll also fight tooth and nail to ensure that the universe exists, and that everyone everywhere has a chance to live. What if Nezerec worships the traveler because from his perspective, the traveler is actually the bad guy and that’s why he serves it. What if existing is actually the bad ending. The traveler exists to create as much life as possible. But by that same token, that creates as much suffering as possible. Because to exist is to fight for existence, and to therefore experience pain. What if Nezerec is totally chill with guardians and the traveler, and is even on our side. But it’s because he views us as fellow disciples/gods of pain and suffering, and because he sees the traveler as the ultimate god of it. That would be absolutely wild. I really hope they pursue an angle like that.

He's elated because the fighting we do is just empowering him and growing his threat, at the end of week 2 when the raid launches it's likely going to be because of our deeds during Terminal Overload and the pain we fed him

In the Thrilladrome lost sector you can find orange bar Vex apathetically starring at the arcade machines and holding their arms in positions that imply they're playing. They do not care if you kill vex around them, as long as they don't get damaged they will not attack. Kind of supports the idea of Nez using the Thrilladrome to inflict corruption and apathy.

The goal of Dul Incarnu every loop is to pass through the remains of Maras throne world and acces the distributary because then she could kill on an immensly sped up timescale and feed savathuns worm faster than it could grow in hunger. Whatever the Witness hopes to achieve with the Final Shape, I still wonder if The Veil, or something else beyond the portal the Witness went through, is the entity of the Traveler. From humanity, and the Coalition’s view, Savathun was evil, but only doing what she believed was right. What if the Witness is the same way? Not evil, but just against us in ideals? I really hope we learn more about the Veil, the Witness, and Traveler soon. Who knows? Maybe the Traveler can be “rekindled”? Or maybe light and dark will exist as neutral forces within the universe after the Witness, and it’s adversary are both dead?

We just couldn't let go of the atrocities she had done and so our trust would be forever broken. I definitely think both Savathun and Nezarec will become important pivotal figures in the taking down of the Witness and some difficult but necessary alliances will form during LF, culminating in the Final Shape.

i think the reason why nezarec needs the veil is that it's probably one of the only sources of light he can get his hands on. Osiris states during the campaign that darkness finds it's roots in memory, emotion, and subconscious. However he also states that the Light is more physical, and if he's looking to create himself a new body to escape the vex network he needs Light to make it.

I think that Nezarec, through Darkness mumbo jumbo, was able to copy-paste his mind into his mindless soldiers, and in turn, create backups of his Brain. From the Dialouge he gives it seems like he would have *Eaten* the Traveler, and the Fact Tormentors use Void Light is a Hint to their Link. Nez may be trying to enter a New, Tormentor Body, and proceed to try and destroy the Traveler.

This could mean that the final missing plaque on the VotD prophecy wall is "Pain". "The Witness will drink the Light and kill Pain (Nezarec)". The Witness didn't want Nezarec's body in Season of the Plunder so that it could revive him, but to permanently eliminate him instead. Another thing to add to Tormentors being made in Nezarec's image/influence is that they become stronger with pain (destroying their shoulder crit spots)

Now consider what happens at the end of the campaign. The Witness changes the Traveler into some kind of gateway, ready to bring about the Final Shape. The Traveler has ever been a beacon of hope for humanity. A "guiding light" so to speak. But now it's been transformed into something else, and time is running out to stop the Witness. All seems lost, no? And now we have Nezarec speaking to us. Calling to us.

Other lost sector dialouge (unrelated to Nezarec) that I found very interesting was from ghost, following completion of the Typhon Imperator lost sector. It confirms that we are just straight up not getting light from the traveller anymore. I don't remember it word for word, but it was long the lines of: "Guardian, I can still revive you, but its harder. I'm not getting light from the traveller anymore but when I call on the light it still comes, but from somewhere... deeper" This was from my second completion of the lost sector, which was also my first time doing it post campaign

The more I play this expansion, the more I realize the critics are wrong about how it "explains nothing". We're getting the information, just not on Day 1. The Neomuni are much like us - their Veil is our Traveler - they don't know what it is, just that it makes everything run, and evil forces want it. We're gradually figuring it out together, and steadily getting answers as we go.

The activity is fun enough (Lots of dudes to shoot, what more could you ask for in a game like this?). I just wish the weapons were a little less... blue.

A little detail I didn't realize, and may be purely coincidental, is that Nezarec's Sin gives you bonus ability regen with void kills. What damage do the tormentors use? Void. I know void is light, but this is a detail that is a nice touch.

That makes me think there's gonna be a "don't look back" mechanic in the raid. *NOT ONLY* because nezarec says it, but it aligns with the mythology of Ishtar mentioned in a previous video regarding Osiris and mythology. Another thing I picked up on after doing the Deterministic Chaos quest is that the Vex created their attempt at a Veil and called it "The Black Heart" And what does the Witness say at the end of Witch Queen? "Your Pale Heart holds the key." I'm maybe thinking too hard on this, but the Veil is probably the Traveler's Heart. That is why they needed the Radial Mast or a Ghost to form a connection with the Veil, as they are attuned to the Light

That also explains why the Traveller is apparently dead following the campaign, the witness has taken control of its heart, perhaps overriding or suppressing it. Now if only Bungie had of conveyed that during/after the campaign, 80% of the campaign's story issues would disappear. I'm sure it will all make more sense after the raid.

Also when you look at the Veil from the boss room, it does looks like the artery of a heart, so that is a thing, plus aparently Strand is a byproduct of the Veil, which in theory could be part of the Gardener’s Goal with finding cooperation with the Winnower, a blend between Light and Dark.

Another thing worth noting that many seem to forget is the Traveller's own shell has that dark, 'bruised' underside due to parts of it being missing (The Shard and the Pale Heart with possibly the protective wrap we call the Veil).

I think the state the people were in weren't "calm" I think was just "the zone". It's a state in being whis where the individual is casting aside all outside distractions and hyper focusing on what is in front of them, It's also a place where players can experience the pain of loss and distributing pain to game characters.

So I have some big questions that has yet to talked about/ explained. One how does the Witness possess our ghost and two how does Osiris know to warn us to keep our ghost away from the Veil. I can understand there not being an explanation for the the Witness possessing our ghost, but how did Osiris know to tell us to not let our ghost near the Veil.

I think I have an idea for his "shadow" line. He bursts from our own shadow, our shadow being an analogy for the things we fear. He tears it apart, dissecting everything about our regrets and fears, then replaces it with his own twisted nightmares. Replacements of our own shadows. I think Nezarec is the origin of the nightmare defenses of the pyramids. It existing on the Europan pyramid doesn't rule him out as being the creator, just that the witness saw it as a worthy defense to put on their fleet. That, or the Europan pyramid was also part of Nezarec's initial force laying siege to Sol. Look at neptune's skies, there are plenty of pyramids there, who's to say that Nezzy didn't have a couple of ships at his disposal. Also, Side note, The Cloud Striders lore book actually says that it was one of the Cloud Striders, Stargazer I believe, that went to Earth, and used Rasputin to delete any mention of Neomuna/Neptune, not Savathun. She may have known about the Veil, which was her deception, but she didn't "Hide" it.

This video got me thinking. Do you think the Gardner and the Winnower are one in the same with the Traveler and the Witness? I believe so. We know the Gardner and Winnower played the Final Shape game and Gardner wanted a different outcome so it left. This got me thinking about the Veil. You said that the Veil is a massive source of paracausal power. We know its connected to the Light and Darkness, but what if it's a tear between realities from when the Gardner entered our dimension. Thats why the Witness is so obsessed with the Final Shape cause it just want to go home. And at the end of the campaign, it opens another portal back home taking the Traveler or Gardner with it. Effectively preventing a different outcome, insuring only the Final Shape. Just thoughts. Now time for my other epiphany. Nezarec is the Destiny version of Starkiller. Both served masters they hated, both were killed/indirectly killed by said master, and both were cloned because of how much power/potential they possessed in an effort to control them. Boom case closed Nezarec is Starkiller. Albiet a more evil and sinister version. I'll be off, cheers lads. Edit: I just had another thought. The Veil is called the Veil because it is the “Veil between Worlds” further solidifying my hypothesis. Gawt Dayum Bungo hire me already. 😂

Nezarac really seems to be a 1 to 1 of the devil if you think about his title, being called the purest light invokes the thought of how Lucifer was in fact an angel original who betrayal leads him to be casted out of heaven. They both align in the way they revel in the suffering and downfall of others. I don't know if anyone in the comments have mentioned it but in the first cutscene of the expansion where The Witness is walking in their ship there is what looks like a statue of a tormentor or maybe even a form that Nezarec took. It has a helmet that looks similar to the Nezarec's Sin helmet a cloak and a scythe that have horns that look like horns of the helmet as well.

This makes such a good lore video! Savathun may be right about the Taken King returning, because hypothetically... if Nezarec is sending the Taken to do his bidding for his inevitable return there are a lot of hints that support that theory, Nezarec giving dialogue about taking over the CloudArk, citizens of Neomuna having intense nightmares, and the Raid being called Root of Nightmares. Tormentors being called Imprints of Nezarec could mean that they were enforcers of Nezarec and the Witness was looking for a replacement to Nezarec. It makes sense that Nezarec could control the Taken (even if he isn't the Taken King) because the Taken are basically braindead and they are controlled by "pain".

My theory: Nezarec betrayed the Witness after his defeat because he realized that the death of the Traveler meant the death of civilization and the infinite suffering that they bring. He eitehr stole or was given Light, which explains why most of his weapons are associated with void, and the Tormentors use Void energy. Also, when we pick up the Nightmare scythes, they are mentioned to be made of both Darkness and Light. Nez was the first being to fuse the two, and will teach us how to do so in some form of bargain.

Something really cool a friend of mine pointed out is in the very beginning cutscene of lightfall there's a statue that the witness walks by that is very much alike to a tormentor but it's got a few changes such as the different looking scythe and what looks like a hood on it's head Seems that though even if nezarec betrayed the witness he's still very much involved with them and maybe with the name of the raid and it's description we will be confronting him as caityl said in the hypernet current strike when mentioning the voices in the vex network. Really excited to finally see more of this character who has been around maybe even longer than savathun has in D2 in terms of hints

With us hopping into the Vex again pretty heavily, it would be neat to take a trip back into the infinite forest and check for simulations regarding nezarec, the veil, or accessing the Cloud Ark. One thing I'll say is that many big figures in the destiny universe might not have been explained in this DLC but definitely references a lot and brought back. Witness, black garden, nezerac, calus and the entire cabal line of royalty, the veil, travelers possible origins or just some actual teases of more of what the traveler is.
