I mean we've definitely had bits and pieces if you look hard enough, like the making of the drives they use and how they travel using subspace to get across very large distances, as well as bits and pieces mentioned about specific spacecraft (although it's typically not the main subject of the lore piece). But yeah, I really agree it would be nice to have a proper detailed lore piece dedicated to that sort of subject. As well as weapons and armour, although we got tons of detailed armour lore in D1 and we've had lots of bits and pieces on weapons to where we know a decently large amount. I mean a lot of the spacecraft classifications haven't really been explained yet.

The Pyramids and Traveler don’t really need to be detailed when it comes to their movement. They’re Paracausal. They don’t need scientific explanations because they can easily break the Universe. Our ships however are Physical things. Assuming our Guardian doesn’t need to enact their Will upon their own Jumpships, our ships are Scientific in Nature. Our ships have Warp Drives. Possibly Alcubierre Warp Drives. Otherwise, our ships have Weaponry too, as shown from Spire of Stars. Where in the beginning of the Raid, when looking up, you can see Guardian Vessels shooting and being shot at Red Legion Threshers.

A great way to explain Paracausality is explaining the cause. When a trace rifle's trigger is pulled, chemical reactions, discharging batteries, graviton generators, or some kind of force generates the Solar, Arc, or Void energy that gets projected towards the enemy. The energy has a source. A specifc cause, which can create a specific effect. When a paracausal entity ignites their weapon, there is nothing about the hammer, the sword, the handgun, whatever, that can be pointed to that specifically wreathed the weapon in Solar energy. There is no specific cause according to the universe. The paracausal entity's _will alone_ is enough to be the cause.

The "shielding" that the Pyramids use appears to function as a Quantum lock, effectively removing it from being observed by the observable universe, causing it to be unable to reach its destination in the same way matter cannot reach the center of a black hole, but can only hover upon its accretion disk (it effectively prevents a wavefunction collapse into any outcome possible by probability, it does them all and none of them, locked in the moment before observation forces a deterministic decision). It would also explain why the objects don't disappear entirely and become momentarily observable (albeit indirectly) again when the defensive systems activate. Cabal Anti-Paracausal technology like the cage only seem to be effective on extensions of the paracausal force, hence why it is critically effective against ghosts but the Traveler, after it woke up, just blew up the Cage entirely.

I wonder if it might be similar to the Witness' power to take entire worlds and shunt them into alternative realities? They're essentially moving all the projectiles into another dimension before they can strike the ship. The fact that the Pyramids are avoiding being hit entirely suggests that they aren't invincible - you don't need to dodge a punch if you can take them without damage. Negate this defense and they should be vulnerable.

Given what we know about Mars and what the Witness did with it, it sounds like the Pyramid ships take them out of the 4th dimension(time), it would let someone who doesn’t play by causal reality observe the totality of Mars’s temporal events like a book, without risking temporal interference by actually going back in time like the Vex, it also prevents others from observing the Witness as he isn’t actually going anywhere in the time stream. A temporal shield is detectable and counterable by Vex tech, Ashur would’ve picked up on that and the Vex definitely would’ve, and the Vex would’ve tried to take down a Pyramid for sure, even just for science.

Plot twist: What if the Pyramids aren't pyramid? What if they're cubes? The lore card for Ashur: Observation has the picture of a square looming over a circle, the circle being the planet Ashur is one. While the bottom half of the square is likely the pyramid's shadow, what if it's not? What if the same force that allows the "pyramid" to make projectiles fired at it stop being visible also applies to the ship itself and it actually has an invisible lower half, a "shadow" half. The word Darkness refers to the absence of light and therefore things we can't see. What better ship for the Darkness than one we can't see?

The description of Rasputin's weapons are very intriguing. The Gravity/Black hole one sounds like a large scale version of Graviton Lance or some kind of anti-matter bomb... I wonder if that's where the technology came from? Small mistake in the Ashur Observation lore card. It mentions he fires a railgun but to fire it he charged magnetic coils. Railguns don't fire using magnetic coils. They use magnetic rails, hence the name. Magnetic coils are used by Gauss Rifles, also called Coilguns. Both use electromagnetic forces to propel a projectile but do so in different ways. It's like saying a longbow and a crossbow are the same thing.

In my view, the Cabal and Rasputin working together will be our best shots against the pyramids. Paracausal forces we may command, and it will be necessary to challenge the Witness and their disciples directly, but for the coming war against the black fleet, it will take the supreme actions of causality to shatter their armies. Quite simply put, while a nova bomb is nice, we can't make nukes. How do we execute this strategy? Simple, find a way of recreating the Cage, and projecting it out over a wide area of space, possibly using the Leviathan as a base and power source for such a projector. This will disable the pyramid ships. Then follow it up with planet crackers. Based on how the Cabal operate within physics, I'm guessing these are RKMs, relativistic Kill Missiles. I don't care how tough your armor is, when you're hit by something going lightspeed, you die. The Witness will doubtless unleash truly enormous forces against the projector, requiring a sturdy defense by the guardians, but if we can hold it and immobilize the black fleet, Rasputin and the Cabal can unleash truly awesome forces against it. This tactic could be used to badly bloody the Black Fleet, perhaps opening a chance for us to launch a strike at their heart, to smash open their flagship, board it, and personally kill the Witness. And then promptly make it into a gun.

I feel that the best analogy to what the Cabal did is to effectively put a jamming signal in an effective area. This doesn't mean it absorbs any particular power, but somehow "roots" reality in place. This is kinda like how in a double slit experiment with electrons, observing them changes their behaviour. Considering that the Pyramids are capable of bending gravity to a planetary or even solar scale, (if my basic understanding of astrophysics is correct) then they also bend time as well. Black holes/Singularities also are capable of altering time (See how it affected The Distributary) with their own gravitational shenanigans. However, I don’t the taken planets have been sent back in time. Rather, it’s more likely they’ve been encapsulated in a “bubble” of warped space-time. Or they might’ve been displaced deep into the Ascendant Planes. Either way, they would be isolated and studied as the Witness sees fit without being disturbed.

I find it interesting how the pyramids seem to have an event horizon around them, where things can't be seen but are still there because the light is being sucked in due to gravity. I imagine we can get inside only because they allow us, and in rhulks case chances are it worked either because it was crashed and broken or in savathuns throne world.

My theory when it comes to the pyramids is that they were sitting above the cradles for so long to nullify the Light on those planets, and when the time came for the planets to disappear, they simply extended that field that held Asher’s projectiles in stasis to a planetary scale. Personally, I think the key to getting the planets back is some evolved version of Deepsight, that allows us to peer through the field that the Pyramids put up, and somehow breach that field to destroy the Pyramid from within, therefore reclaiming the planets.

Just a thought, the last two seasons have had scorn cabal and hive as the enemy which makes it more likely we’ll get taken vex or fallen as the enemy of the next season or two. This video made me think since the vex are a marvel in of themselves and the fallen have some impressive technology such as the splicer gauntlet it may be possible that our guardians might look for a solution to the problem you bring up in the video such as stealing fallen or vex technology to gain the ability to imbue paracausal energy into a weapon of some sort. Either that or they could go to the hive or some taken force to figure out a magical way to deal with the pyramid ships but who knows. We’ve never had a real voiced conversation between the characters about what they’ll do when the time comes to really duke it out with the forces of the witness other than that a way to win needs to be found. Maybe the lack of preparation we’ve seen during these seasons following witch queen is on purpose and we really will lose when light fall comes, possibly we may lose at the end of the season leading up to light fall. I feel like with the way things are going it would just make since if we finally had a major loss just like cayde. Maybe not a character death but something extreme such as our light getting taken away again or the city being effected somehow which would be a good way to introduce new darkness powers that we’ll need to utilize while our light has been stripped. Just thinking about the wild things that might happen has me very excited for the next couple seasons and light fall and I can’t wait to find out all the interesting stories both leading up to and after light fall from our lore expert byf. I also just thought about it but one of the seasons might end with us entering the Traveller since it seems that it’s similar to the pyramids and has an interior based on it’s scar.

Given the Black Fleet's energy signature is gravimetric instability, I suspect the pyramids create a small pocket dimension of folded space right before the point of impact, and shunts the projectile or attacking energy into that folded space, where it will eventually dissipate.

I love how the Asher Mir lore page starts, "Man of science though he was, the first thing Asher Mir did, was shoot the damned thing." The fact that he built a railgun pretty fast and started shooting some kind of projectiles at the Pyramid over IO and changing the projectiles up a little to get proper readings on the Pyramid is a badass scientist thing, instead of studying it safely, he shoots it and tries to get info from trial and error. Just epic. And then how he went out by going into the Pyramidion and fighting through the Vex if needed, then bringing down the Radiolaria Lake around him, effectively becoming one with the Vex and denying this asset to the Darkness is epic. He originally went in to study the Vex, got his arm replaced with a Vex arm that was slowly changing him into a Vex, returned to IO to find a cure only to soon get caught up in the Red War and becoming our planetary guide, to going out like THIS. He may have had very little story, but Asher was awesome. I miss being his assistant, even if he was a bit rude. Hopefully one day he'll help us greatly against the Vex.

My best guess on how light and dark works is energy and frequency, which would explain how the pyramid ships are essentially invulnerable, they match the resonating frequency of the projectiles and nullify them with the inverse frequency pretty much removing the threat of the projectiles but meaning that of the inverse frequency was to the removed then the projectiles would no longer have their existence nullified, how ever this is just a crackpot theory that I got wile looking at how darkness is similar to frequency in general and light is pretty much just energy being manipulated in different ways.

The way the Pyramids defenses work reminds me of the lore descriptions of the shields from Star Trek - a persistent field of phase-shifted spacetime which creates a barrier that can't pass through. Now, Trek doesn't actually treat follow through with the description for narrative/visual reasons, but it feels similar here. Most likely the shield is, in fact, an application of the saem technology used to take our missing planets.. As for how to overcome a paracausal shield with causal tech, the best approach I can see is find a tech whose cause breaks the parameters of measuring cause/effect. For example over in the Macross franchise there is an weapon/ammunition type called a Dimension Eater, which overcomes all armour and shielding simply by tearing a hole in spacetime, causing everything in the effect radius to cease to exist.

The similarities of our Planetoids and Asher’s weapons disappearing, and the Taking process have led me to think this behavior might become the basis or part of the thematic palette for a future Darkness subclass. Especially if the Psionic Nightmares and Deepsight concepts are also throw in. The isolation of matter, the destructive gravity wave attacks, the creation of ireal entities, the manipulation of corporeality, dimensions, and information. Even the egregore’s capability of linking of thoughts and across cosmic distances. I feel like all of these concepts line up to create a solid range of powers to build an element out of.

With the combination of the time dilation there and that they were some of the first to survive an encounter with the Darkness (that we know of) they might be the perfect place to get answers. Now I could be wrong about this, but given the events of Vow of the Disciple and the aftermath we can see in the Skybox while on Patrol I always assumed its is either impossible/ close to impossible to damage a pyramid from Outside, but can be damaged from within. Given its appearance in the aftermath of the Raid I always interpretted that the pyramid had been cracked open by none other than Rhulk himself. thought part of the outer shell was cracked but eyes could have been wrong, but the geysers of orange light definitely imply it was compromised in some way.

The Cabal tech really is quite amazing. I'm surprised it doesn't get focused on more. They're interstellar, highly advanced, and able to actively mess with paracausal forces while being entirely causal themselves. Thats frankly ridiculous levels of tech. Golden age humanity couldn't do that. We were barely colonising the whole solar system, and while we had studied paracausal entities and in the case of Clovis actually managed to enhance Stasis, we couldn't control it or mess with it. Exo's are the most advanced thing golden age humanity ever made, and even they are just causal. The radiolaria has been altered by paracausal forces but this happened entirely "naturally". The hive are interstellar, but their FTL travel is magical. Humanities current jumpship tech has trouble getting beyond the Reef. The cabal managed to transport something like the Almighty from one star system to another. They managed to build the Leviathan. The fact that we haven't reverse engineered their jump drive tech is actually a bit of a blind spot. The Fallen are also interstellar, but they impression I get from their tech is that its not much faster or better than ours, they just followed the Traveler to our system slowly. They couldn't maintain an interstellar empire, travel would take too long. The Cabal meanwhile actually can. They can travel from one star to another, without paracausal power, in a short enough time to hold an empire. Its a borderline plot hole that both humanity and the Fallen aren't more obsessed with reverse engineering the Cabal technology, especially given the way so much of the Cabal tech is interchangeable due to their use of an all purpose fuel/oil liquid. Their understanding of the universe might even arguable exceed the Vex, as the Cabal managed to do the impossible and steal the light, something not even the Witness' disciples have been able to do.

OMG! Guys, I think it's possible they we may have even more to talk about than we think! Hearing about the defensive capabilities of the pyramid actually reminded me of an old lore card back from the red war! Specifically, who remembers that story about the guardian who succumbed to a perpetual trap aboard the almighty? The one who was seemingly locked in perpetual place? Three defences of the pyramid found by Asher actually sound allot like this trap, the main known difference being that (to the ghost) the trapped Guardian was still visible. While im not sure what this means, considering the point made that the Cobal's persistence actually enabled them to have some form of power over a pyramid, I think it's worth exploring what this technology might have been.

So the one thing that really caught my attention is the Pyramid ’shielding’ I guess it could be called. So from what Byf said, to me it sounds like the Pyramids are using the concept behind Stasis and turning its effects into a method of protection. Basically taking what Stasis users already do and bringing it to new level of application. So, we guardians could, in theory, use this idea and make Darkness our shield with Light acting as our sword sort to speak.

Mara's theme at 14:51. Love the little touch. That aside, the fact that a mere AI created by humanity can outsmart the Vex collective makes me wonder how exactly Rasputin was created. The vex are supposed to have an overwhelming advantage in terms of information and available resources, and yet Rasputin was able to properly perceive light and dark and even design countermeasures for paracausal entities, which the vex only barely managed to achieve even with all the time and resources they have. The gradient doesn't really make sense to me. I also would love to see the Dvalin Forge weapon series in later seasons, Rasputin seems to think they are inadequate against darkness, but if they too are made of golden age tech they may still be very potent by our current standard, and can provide insights about his methods of countering paracausal beings.

So the vex can time travel in a way so what if a person or fireteam with a vex expert travels to a reality slower than ours and came out when the ahamkara were still alive and made a wish for a peracousal weapon powerful enough to destroy perimids. Than travel back to a vex portal on Venus and step into a reality moving faster than ours and step out at the perfect time to enter back into ours. We could then use this weapon to destroy them.
