Well, if Vaush's dumbass did an ounce of research on this topic he'd know why the democratic election official in Palm Beach changed the ballot but he didn't do the research. In fact, at the beginning of the argument, he didn't know a single thing about the ballot issue. He obviously had people send him that one article he tried to used to bulster his position. He simply used it as his reason to assert that Bush is a fascist. Which, btw, doesn't follow at all. Because the ballot has literally NOTHING to do with Bush. Either George or his brother Jeb. @@punchout2418 are you implying destiny has incredible self-awareness, because at some points that appears questionable. For one, saying that not everything a fascist does is bad (like drinking water) is a moot point. No one is calling anyone a fascist for drinking water as it's a need for most living organisms. Like, what even was this argument? As they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Also, if you say "you can't call people fascist" is kind of dumb. First of all, because you're free to call people whatever you want (and you can be called out for it) and it also benefits fascists. After all, if you can't call out fascists, they'll be able to do fascist actions without repercussions. Then people don't really know what a fascist is. Now, it's fair to say some leftists (largely twitter lefties who are hated by anyone with a functioning brain, including irl lefties) do overuse the term fascist. But guess what, right-wingers call lefties communists, socialists AND fascists all the time in the same way. But I don't see Destiny campaigning to stop that. Now I would never call Destiny a fascist myself, but some of the shit he says *does* benefit fascists, and I very rarely see him freak out on crazy right-wingers the way he does on leftists. It's hilarious watching all the Destiny Stans pretending this is a problem when they love watching Destiny do it on the regular.
@Axxilles3 жыл бұрын
@@radr819 I've watched this twice now; that's just factually not what occurred. Destiny interrupted Vaush so much more. Vaush was trying to talk a lot, and he didn't say much, but it's literally because he had 9x people interjecting halfway through every point. I can understand being frustrated at the lack of substantial conversation, or at least that it was inefficient and took 3x as long as it should, but it's because people kept interrupting him. He's not as used to panel style discussion, so he was a little long winded, but that doesn't mean it's his fault that he was constantly interrupted. Or if you want to say it is, it's not nearly as big of a problem as you're saying it is.
@broaz8853 жыл бұрын
@@Axxilles I can get behind the argument that Vaush needed to talk more because he had to defend his arguments against 9 people. But he was taking so much time. At some point he had to acknowledge that people were impatient (obviously in a big call like that) and he could've made more of an effort to shorten his arguments. There is value in letting people finish talking, but there is also value in keeping people engaged and the discussion going in a natural flow which is harder when you have 10 different people involved. If Vaush cares about being rhetorically effective, he should've recognized that making a hot claim like ''Bush was a fascist'' that he can't back up fairly quickly instead of having to orally present a pages long essay isn't gonna go well. It wasn't helped by the fact that the amount of talking he was doing created confusement about what claim was being discussed or critized to the point of meaninglessness.
@Axxilles3 жыл бұрын
@@broaz885 I think the confusion happened because 8 people were all interrupting on top of the fact that it's a complicated and contested statement. He definitely could have been shorter to allow others to talk, to but that's hard when you're taking about a nuanced discussion. To be fair to a Vaush though, I was surprised that "George Bush was a fascist" was such a contested issue myself. I would agree with Destiny that that sort of rhetoric isn't helpful, but they doesn't mean it's not true. Edit: ya know, I'm just still not sure the brevity problem was Vaush's fault. People were jumping down his throat two thirds of the way through every sentence. Yeah, not his fault. I've watched it twice now. Too many people interrupting was the problem, and he was far from the worst transgressor there. Vaush's biggest problem was just making a few bad arguments and untrue claims, which is totally fine over a twenty years old issue. He was much closer to reality than anyone who claims there was nothing anti democratic about the 2000 presidential election. It's honestly the dumbest/most uninformed claim I've heard destiny make in the last few years.

As somebody who disagreed with Vaush (and only having seen the first hour), I can tell you 100% without a doubt that he was incredibly rhetorically effective. The purpose of this kind of debate is to convince people that destiny has X Y and Z positions, and him constantly and relentlessly trying to gaslight everyone into believing destiny holds even remotely the positions he claims destiny holds means that destiny had to spend so much time on the backfoot clarifying that's not what he actually said. If you're explaining, you're losing. I think destiny lost this, but primarily because he didn't expect vaush to go quite as hard as he did. (That doesn't mean his *positions* were wrong, though.)
@jonpray55093 жыл бұрын
@@kehlva8092 I don’t think Vaush was rhetorically effective at all. The reason the “if you’re explaining, you’re losing” works is because usually one person establishes control over the debate and can force the other person in to long winded responses that make them look weak. The issue is that Vaush was forcing himself in to long winded responses and while trying to establish control by cutting people off and asking if he can finish he instead made himself appear desperate for control rather than actually in control. The incessant adhoms, trying to rewrite history and gaslight the panel in real time by misremembering events, and cutting everybody off including what felt like the host sometimes didn’t make his argument look strong. It made him look like he didn’t have control over his senses enough to belong on the panel and cast doubt on any claim he made or position he held.

That's what every debate the past 10 years has been. I've had friends ask me "do you believe A, B, and C?" And I say "yes, but I'm not a Feminist by today's standards" and they freak out because I don't subscribe to their label. It makes no sense to me. I'd say 90% of people who say ALL LIVES MATTER agree with the majority of ideas BLM does, but each side is mostly fighting about the way the phrase is worded. That's why Destiny is so against labels and group ideology because, as he's said, people don't think as a group, they think of individuals. So, if someone has 99 non-fascist ideas and 1 fascist idea, that 1 idea doesn't make them fascist, but the logic that "this person thinks x, which is what most fascists believe, therefore this person is fascist" is what happens when you apply group ideology to individuals.
