I use to have a cooked food problem. People scoff at the addiction, but it's true. I've been raw vegan for two years now, so two years clean, and I'm never looking back. I remember when I was 14, my mom found a bag of red lentils under my matress. I heard her screams from the garage, where I was making heavy metal music with my friends glorifying the downward spiral of eating foods heated over room temperature. When I ran in the room, she was holding the bag of lentils, crying. "How could you do this to me and your father!?", she exclaimed. We shouted at each other a little before she made my flush the lentils down the toilet. A couple of years later, our school had a random drug search. As the young German Shephard approached my schoolbag where it was lying in the hallway, I started to sweat. It sat down and pointed its nose towards it. *Shit.* The cop pulled out a Complete Cookie and started screaming at us: "Who's bag is this?!". Of course it was mine. In the principal's office, I vehemently protested that the disk of heated starches, refined sugars and proteins wasn't mine. He wasn't buying it. He produced a small plastic container and a test kit and waited patiently for me to produce a sample. Nervously, I obliged. He didn't need the test kit, though: a stream of bloody urine spilled into the cup as he shook his head in disgust. As the cop walked me out the front doors in handcuffs, a photographer snapped a few shots of my tear streaked face. I got clean in prison. Sure, it was easy to get boiled potatoes in the can: people smuggled them in anyway they could, but I persisted in my quest to get clean. I would go to the lunch counter and get a giant serving of celery and tomatoes every day for lunch, and every night, I lay in bed sweating with intense stomach pains, vomiting the same raw foods into my toilet periodically. It took me several weeks to get clean, and I haven't looked back since.

I remember you had bunches and bunches of bananas in your house too lol. I do have a question though about detoxing(not from cooked food obviously). Actually there are abstinence symptoms, not because of the abstinence of cooked foods in general, but of starch and gluten (and dairy, yes) and probably other addictive and unhealthy substances. It's milder than what happens with other substances, but it's still real. It's very clear to almost whomever tries to stop consuming these things.

The crazy thing is I experienced some detox symptoms when I stopped consuming meat and dairy. I was extremely nauseous and I had a constant headache for about four or five days. But it's NOT comparable to anyone going through some sort of substance abuse withdrawal! The closest thing I can compare it to is going through like a caffeine "withdrawal" - That caffeine headache you get when you stop drinking soda and coffee. That's my experience with it.

Can you do a video on soy formula vs cow formula? Everything I read says soy formula isn't as good as dairy formula and shouldn't be used unless there is a medical reason your baby can't have dairy formula. Is there a vegan formula that's just as good to use to supplement breast milk?

Try soy formula first, make sure it has enough fats, vitamins, proteins, calories, and check with a doctor for baby's health progression every couple of weeks. If something goes wrong, do as doctor says. I had soy formula because I couldn't have dairy and I'm a 5'7 woman if it can reassure you. I know parents want everything to be perfect for baby :) don't go through more stress than you already are, it's details. As long as you feed your baby an approved formula and check up with a doctor regularly, baby will be fine :)
