I am very happy that MBN is staying another year in the EU and developing even more. Clearly better to play in a better league than to grind around in the ahl. The SHL is better at everything and also doesn't have as long a season and this opens up different combinations for himself, ahead of next year. This is important as there is exactly the same decision that MBN made earlier in his career from the age of ~17. As a bonus today, he gets time with ASP, which will be an advantage for both when they come over (probably next year). However, MBN has never played hockey at such a high level as (SHL) is for him. That he played in Mora (S22/23) and appearing in 11 games in the second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan, however a second-tier league. Before that, his senior professional debut was for Vålerenga Ishockey of Norway's EliteHockey Ligaen (EHL) as a 16 year old. He was offered a spot in the system of Swedish club Mora IK midway through the year, but chose to remain in Norway until the season ended. In his draft-eligible season, Brandsegg-Nygård once again split time between the professional and junior levels, recording eight goals and ten assists in 41 Allsvenskan games for Mora IK. The question becomes quite simple, why would anyone question his own choices here when everything indicates that he actually knows best himself and which package is best for him in the long term. For me, it is obvious that he has good advisors around him and what a good collaboration there is between organizations within the NHL and SHL. MO - I'm not worried about him, I just think he loves the challenge of being the best defender in the team. Would like to see him chasing a place rather than being the best, though very far in the future if we even get there. Edvinsson - Agree that it is time to show why he was chosen as No. 6. Personally, I hope he chooses to keep it simple instead of overplaying. I'm not looking forward to seeing Edvinsson & Petry for 82 games, my heart won't take it. We need to strengthen the defense with at least one top 2 player. The reason Edvinsson was in the AHL for so long was to rebuild his body from severe shoulder injuries. A lot of people forget that he had a major operation the year before last. He also fell very badly and injured his other shoulder badly in his last junior year against (USA!!) and played injured in that tournament. Rehab takes time and was necessary for his long-term career. Unfortunately for Steive, he doesn't manage to get at least one top 2 defender and I firmly believe that the team will regress this year. The worst that can happen is that RW gets to choose as No. 15 again. #LGRW
@BrentNinedorf2 ай бұрын
The shoulder injury with Edvinsson led to the Wings to not want to rush him back. You are spot on there. I think he will be huge (literally) on the back end. Hoping Johansson is steady. I would like to see if there is something there with Wallinder. Size and skating were the draft calling cards. Having a huge guy on each pair that is also mobile would be nice to have.
@billjohansson882 ай бұрын
@@BrentNinedorf yea I agree with you, I think he succeeds very well. I too look forward to seeing what Wallinder can do in the NHL. A big body with great hands and a great puck carrier that will/can take an initiative in creative offensive chances. Haven't seen him play in a very long time though. Having a little difficulty following both RW & GR as a Swede, of the two, RW will be my choice live. Johansson's trademark is more be an steady defensive player, he is very similar to his father in the way he plays D. Will not be surprised at all if Johasson becomes a player with a very high minimum level just like his father was. As a Swede, I hope we have the best talents on D still in our pipeline through some very promising talents from the US and Can who were drafted in recent years. US youth activities are probably world-leading today. I hope Swedish federations emulate more from it than before, "we" need to find a way to take the next step to really play for the gold on the junior side every year. We have two very good nations before us (Can & US) then other nations have become better in the EU, which is great fun to see because the competition is so much better as a result.

@socialmediag54852 ай бұрын
@@nk7570 copp etc.. are bigger garbage atm . Berggren is a cheap contract and should be played top 9 to boost his value . Rather have him on the 2ppl than a compher or copp. He’s got more offensive talent than anyone else on the bottom 6 . Yzerman should be looking to move a compher since copp is untradeable before compher joins copp and becomes unmovable as well and call up kasper to stay up for good. Copp and compher are the exact same players

About MBN decision... SHL is actually A LOT better leauge then the AHL. Sure, it's diffrent type of hockey and ice surface, and maybe the best team in the AHL could compete against a playoff team in the SHL, but overall as a leauge it's not even close. The worst team in SHL would beat most of the teams in AHL... There have been a ton of top producers in the AHL who comes to SHL and FLOP big time...

I actually agree with brad for once . This teams scoring is going down and we’re headed for a world of pain. Wings fans should prepare themselves Rasmussen copp Fischer veleno motte Berggren bottom 6 ? ... as much as I love edvinsson and johansson they’re both rookies and will make mistakes + chiarot petry maata Gustafson Larkin always misses games , likely husso misses games again ... I’m just looking forward to watching edvinsson johansson Berggren this season and eventual call ups of kasper & mazur and watching seider and raymond keep getting better With ottawa getting a #1 goalie as well and being in the toughest division would shock me to see us drafting 8-10 again next draft. Berggren doesn't belong on the 4th line period. The kid has to wait until he's 24 to get a chance then you put him on the 4th line? And have high expectations for him? I hope he finds a team he can actually thrive on.

As it stands now he isn't going to get in the top 6 and they're not breaking up the third line. Inevitable for injuries to occur so I'd think he'll move up then but, he needs to show he's improved his defensive game.
