Dewalt DCP580 cordless planer repair.

This dewalt planer came in not running. Turned out to simply be a loose cable connector on the motor.
Sadly I didn't check if the blade clamps where tight. The costumer had removed the blades and didn't tighten them again.
When I tested the planer the set plates got thrown out and smashed the base.
leaving me with even more to repair. Sadly had to cover the cost of the base myself as I should have check the clamps first.

I have a Steinel hot air gun that’s really good. Perhaps they also make good heat guns. I only have a cheapo of those.

What spray did you use? Electrical contact cleaner? It looked like wd40

How on earth does someone give a planer to anybody with the bladeclamps loose??? 😩 I‘ ve seen a ELU Planer that has been broken the front half off because of that. It flew out of the owners hand while working through the entire workshop.

Frig it is right . U had that short up a few weeks ago . It was a handy fix and then that happens 🤬

Have you set the blade hight amd have you checked the bearings
