This is why Brian was the series greatest antagonist. He instantly recognises the absurdity of “the code”. He sets the wheels in motion for Dexter’s downfall by awakening his dormant humanity. There isn’t a single scene with Michael C Hall and Christian Camargo that isn’t stellar.

Honestly Brian made the most sense to me logically out of everyone in the Dexter family. Like everything he said here made perfect sense to me to be honest 😂😂 like isn’t Dexter supposed to be psychopath? Because his attachment to Deb proves that he’s literally not a psychopath which I think only shows the hypocrisy in most of Dexters beliefs. Dexter thinks he’s Harry but he’s not in the slightest.

Apparently you don't understand how psychopaths work. A psychopath can have emotions, attachments, and even values. What makes them psychopaths is their lack of a functioning conscience. They know the difference between right and wrong, they just choose to ignore it. They don't experience remorse. You need to read up on Bundy, Gacy, and Rader.

Most shows aren't written with the expectation that they'll last as long as Dexter did. So you generally try to wrap the whole thing up so, in case your show gets cancelled, the arcs are at least finished and could mostly end on a satisfying note. The only loose ends left in Season 1 were Doakes being on Dexter's tail, but if that never got definitively resolved, the story would've still concluded in a way that was satisfying.

Brian was dumb for this, what did he expect Dexter is a sociopath meaning he has no feelings so why would he automatically choose a brother that he’s never known over someone he spent most his life with like imagine asking a child to choose there adopted parent who raised them and there real one they are ofc going to choose the adopted parent because that’s all they have ever known. The brother title means nothing to a sociopath (maybe he was depending on the fact that he understood him and they both could relate but still) that was Brian’s first mistake. His second mistake was choosing deb of all people he should have stuck to dexters code so that he would be more inclined to do it then slowly try and adjust him. Yes I am comparing Dexter mind to a child.

I never liked the Brian/Rudy character... I liked the premise / storyline / reveal... But "Brian" I never liked the character, like everyone else did.. I was glad they got rid of him... My fingers are crossed they don't bring this character back in Resurrection. I would actually like to see Dexter all on his own without a passenger (unless it's a twisted killer version of Deb) But I like the idea of Dexter no longer having a dark passenger, but him being the driver.. He is completely unleashed, unchecked, unbalanced and embracing who is claims to be... A monster.

@@JulesEdits1992 He was too cocky, creepy and full of himself... When Rudy was first seen, I knew he was the Ice Truck Killer... Was just waiting on the reveal.. I was shocked at Rudy being Dexter's long lost brother Brian... Didn't see that one coming, that was great writing and a great way to slowly revel that.. I loved the entire storyline of season 1.. But Brian/Rudy I hated! Just a slimy creature he was.. He was too sure Dexter would kill Deb, that he didn't care about her.. That she was nothing to him! Moving his way into his life. Thinking when he finally shows Dexter who he really is, that Dexter would just leave with him.... Not knocking the actor but at times he overplayed the character to the point it was very cliche. (Look how smart I am, look how evil I am. Like the big bad in a 007 movie) He wasn't charming to me... Just came across as a creepy guy, right off the bat! He looked to me more like a *apist, than a serial killer... I really do hope they DO NOT bring this character back.. He was good for the time he appeared but I really don't want to visit that character again...

@@jamillajohnson6108 I mean, he’s a psychopath lol. He’s much more accurate to what a psychopath actually is than Dexter is. That’s kind of the whole point of the character, for Dexter to realize than he isn’t the unfeeling monster he pretends to be, as opposed to Brian. I get the James Bond villain thing though. Serial killers are generally not this organized, even the most organized ones, and failure to plan ahead is actually a trait that most narcissistic psychopaths have. I thought the actor was great, I mean he didn’t write his own lines. He was sure that Dexter would kill Deb because he is convinced that Dexter is exactly like him, I mean from his perspective, why wouldn’t he? Serial killers are rare but moral serial killers? Even rarer. Brian was surprised by this because Dexter is a complete oddity among psychopathic murderers. Brian also had a selfish desire to find the perfect partner in crime which originated from a deep sense of loneliness. He didn’t care all that much about what Dexter wanted it was about fulfilling his own fantasy. It’s actually quite clever and interesting when you analyze the specifics of the character’s goal. It makes for a fall palpable tragedy. But yeah I mean he’s a creepy, bottomless pit of evil because thats what the character needs to be to truly challenge Dexter’s character.

@@JulesEdits1992 Oh I know... I agree with everything you said... I just didn't like the character.. I know actors don't write the script... However, it is an actors job to take what's on paper and make it believable and not cliche'ish. Like, I loved Trinity... He was such a compelling character... John Lithgow didn't write his lines either.. But what he brought to that character is forever talked about, how the characters are acted out on screen... John/Trinity had charisma, presence. He was frightening and vulnerable, almost childlike at times. While being a complete menace to his own family. He had depth. I believed Trinity and at no time was he ever a cliche to me... I was engrossed in his story.. Brian (without the reveal of being Dexter's brother) had none of this... No charm, no presence if it wasn't creepy stalker guy... He just didn't get me, to want to continue and see this character. When Dexter killed him.. I was glad!! On to the next, please... I will say I didn't mind his return in that one ep. but again was glad when he didn't show back up.... I hope that stays the same and he is long gone... If Dexter is going to have a dark passenger in Dexter: Resurrection I would LOVE to see a twisted killer version of Deb... And how he has morphed her into his liking of how he always wanted her to be... That would be great.. But I'd rather just have Dexter taking the wheel from his dark passenger and drive the truck full speed ahead...
