So that story about the adopted girl is actually something that a lot of interracial adoptions go through. I’ve even heard my friends talk about how they’re lighter skinned than their parents and would constantly have to prove that they belong to their parents. The video Dhar made is a lil stupid though because the school would ALREADY KNOW that the daughter is in an interracial home. It’s usually something that gets discussed pretty early on in the enrollment process in order to keep stuff like this from happening. His video also could have focused on the mental toll accusations like this have on the child... the video is just bad.

Please note: homeless people don’t need to eat the food you give them-and don’t get offended if they refuse. My uncle was homeless and, at one point, he was literally given a sandwich (from Subway I think) that had rocks in it. The two dudes who gave it to him were sitting away from him, waiting to see if he’d eat the sandwich and pick out the rocks. Also, this isn’t a super uncommon thing. Plenty of people will fuck with the homeless, so know if they refuse food-it’s for their own safety.

No most of jarvises points are just misunderstanding the message of the video. This is lost evident of the black friend one. The point of it isn’t that the mom shouldn’t be racist because he was rich, it’s because she was wrong about her stereotypes. Skin tone does not have any bearing on intelligence or wealth, and that video proved her wrong. He COULD have been poor and dumb, but then she would have been right and would continue being a racist assuming all black people are poor and dumb. The point is that by Martin being rich, it proves that skin tone doesn’t determine your wealth or intelligence, so her stereotype would be wrong.
@fadeuhhway2 жыл бұрын
@@carbon5525 but it still comes back to money . Even if it was about wealth transcending race and color. But I believe that based on the other videos , it was more of embarrassment for being wrong and even though it was a POC who’s wealthy when the woman is racist af , she didn’t have some revelation that black people also could rich, it’s more “shit I was wrong YOU do have money I shouldn’t have assumed you didn’t “ I forgot exactly what she actually said since I’m writing this after but either way , the main takeaway is supposed to be don’t judge a book by its cover, because the inside of the book could’ve been cut out to hold a hidden stash of gold” Basically it was more a revelation solely about how she treated Martin, not all POCs

@@carbon5525 that’s not a very accurate way to interpret racism. The way that video turned out would do nothing to challenge that woman’s view of black people as a whole. Because the thing is She doesn’t hate black people because she thinks they’re stupid and Poor, it’s the other way around. She thinks black people are stupid and poor because she has such a low opinion of them. She believes be it consciously or subconsciously that this is just how black people are, that they are simply lesser people which leads to them making less money and getting poorer grades. which is why she uses terms like “you people”. All she would’ve taken away from that kid revealing he’s smart and rich is that she should treat him differently, not all black people differently. It’s a classic case of the “you’re one of the good ones” mentality that bigots adopt when they meet someone who challenges their view of the group. Dhar Mann always has the same “Don’t judge a book by its cover” lesson. He never gets to the root of the issue. Its like racism, sexism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, are forbidden words. The black kid was accused of stealing due to racism, and she had been racist throughout the whole video, but her kid doesn’t say “You’re being racist.” Even though it is implied, it would have more impact being spoken because even though racists are racist, they don’t like being called racist. Then the kids parents end up being rich and they apologize. And then Dhar Mann hits you with the “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” And its literally saying “Oh you can be racist..but not if their parents or they are rich.” 💀🤚🏼
@carbon55252 жыл бұрын
You’re completing missing the point. It isn’t “oh don’t be racist because they might be rich” it’s “don’t be racist because racial stereotypes aren’t true for everybody, like it has always been the case” oh and also because it’s just a basic human thing to do. The fact that Martin was rich and smart, the opposite of the stereotype of black people being poor and dumb just proves that skin tone doesn’t determine your fate, like wealth and intelligence like the mom thought. Some people are still saying she’ll now only respect black people that are rich. Like, no, her lesson was basically that she shouldn’t judge somebody before they get to know them because racial stereotypes aren’t true for everybody. People not having the privilege of having the same amount of food we have doesn't mean you need to force your kids to gorge their food which can lead to bigger health problems in the future. Of course, as a three year old maybe, you could use the "I'm full!" excuse simply to get back to what you were doing, but older kids like the one in this video know damn well what their body is telling them and how much food to take in. It doesn't mean you need to throw it away every time, as saving it for later is also an option, but forcing children to eat when they're not hungry is just not a good argument and too dangerous.

Anyone else feel like the last one was kinda racist? Like, the response to "You're a black mom to a white daughter, she should be with her own kind!" was essentially "Oh it's okay 'cause I knew her mom and she was cool with me adopting her white kid, I'm the exception." Felt like it implied she needed a REASON to have a multiracial family. Why couldn't the answer just be that she loved her and gave her a good home, and that's all that matters? Idk, kinda sus that he would write a script where the "lesson" is that a black mom can have a white kid if she was given permission by the white mom??
@buzzinbea3 жыл бұрын
Right? Both videos having to do with racism are centered around the black person PROVING that you shouldn't be racist to them. Like the lesson can't just be "Don't be racist because it's flat out wrong" but it has to be "Don't be racist because he's actually RICH!" etc.

Think religion is a blight upon society if you want, but do not call for the deaths of people for “messing up society” by being associated with a system you have a personal issue with when likely a lot of them have done absolutely nothing to spread it at all. Faith is an important thing to a lot of people and it helps them, there is no proof of them being wrong, you are not a god yourself so don’t tell people they are wrong about existence and such. Religion hasn’t ruined society. People like you calling for the deaths or punishments of other people based on things that do not reflect what they’re like as a person and grouping them into categories as bad is the biggest problem society has ever faced, so if you care at all about it you will never speak of something like that in this way again, and never call for the deaths of innocents based on religion. As the kerfuffle was happening, this random woman came up to me and started telling me how "I don't have to listen to him" and "I can run away." At the time I was like wtf that's kinda weird. One major problem that I have with Dhar Mann videos is the following: you do *not* owe your oppressors an explanation. If they didn’t respect you before they knew context, they won’t respect you after they know context. And if they magically respect you after they know context, all you are is an exception because you’ve proven yourself useless to them either it be money or fame. It boils down racism to the individual when it's really much bigger than that. It's culture and legislation and systemic discrimination. Most racists don't talk/act like this. There's dog whistles and "codes" now. Here's a good quote about the southern strategy: You start out in 1954 by saying, “N*gger, n*gger, n*gger.” By 1968 you can’t say “n*gger”-that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites.… “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “N*gger, n*gger.”

I've watched a number of Dhar Mann videos and as Jarvis was pointing out, even when they "solve" one problem, they create more. For example, as Jarvis aptly noted, the spoiled kid who learned his lesson about appreciating what he has will now be rewarded with the thing he so selfishly demanded moments before, which undermines the whole point of the lesson lol. Also I love the term "toxic positivity"!
@satsujin-shathewitchkingof61856 ай бұрын
Positive reinforcement does work in most cases but you're right that giving someone a reward for appreciating what they have undermines the point. At best, I will teach him that ge can get what he wants as long as he acts nice which will lead to him becoming more toxic when that doesn't work

It’s such a small detail, but it’s an important detail. You can’t just guilt a kid into eating everything you’ve given them. Overeating is an issue, too.
@destituteanddecadent91063 жыл бұрын
The mom's logic of "some people don't get enough to eat" is as bizarre as "there are people who don't get access to a movie theater, so you habe to go watch every movie that's released." Parents do get worried though, and undereating is just as much of an issue, especially for children. If they've barely eaten half a sandwich and they're full, and that goes on for a while, I'd say instead of forcing them to eat specific things or letting them eat however they want, go see a professional. Find out if there's a problem, physical or emotional, and work together, not against each other.
@juliafowlkes8483 жыл бұрын
this is actually a huge reason why some children are at higher risk for obesity. children who are taught to eat til their plate is clean will actually learn to ignore their biological cues for being full and hungry. they struggle with the concept of a full belly vs empty and have to learn it from scratch as they get older. same applies to mental health. if you’re always taught that you’re not as sad as you could be, you’ll learn to ignore your biological cues for when you’re actually in a crisis situation. sometimes our environments will cause us to override our internal compasses.

It makes it seem like you can just be the worst human being and be racist to black people but if you say 'oh I'm sorry' and cry for 2 seconds were just supposed to be this omnibenevolent beings and forgive you straight away cuz 'this happens all the time'. What, just because something happens all the time doesn't make it less wrong any of the times and doesn't mean you should be anymore tolerant any of the times. Honestly, like I know the narrative that they're trying to drive is a positive one but they should just stop with this troupe cuz it's so toxic and holds black people to a higher moral standard towards people that are just plain racist to them which is never ok.

I detest when a horrible person is forgiven at the end (most times without even admitting they were wrong) because their point is to show the wronged person is a saint for forgiving them...no matter how horribly they were abused by that person. It's infuriating. Did you ever notice that the people who spew that "you should forgive them for your own wellbeing" BS are the type of people that constantly need to be forgiven because they are pieces of shit? But none of these are a solution to their larger problem anyway. Also, apparently wealth solves racism. 😂 What?

I am a very firm believer that you should only take what you need, and give what you don’t need to the people who do. And that goes for everything. Money, food, water, sanitary/hygiene products, clothing, first aid equipment, and giving someone a warm place to stay overnight. The current system doesn’t work for everyone, it was designed to not work for everyone, so it’s up to us to right the wrongs until things change. In this essay I will…
