As an autistic adult, I can totally relate to the experience that is always being conscious of how you are "acting" in conversations and what I should be "doing better." It can be pretty fucking exhausting. Thankfully I feel like I'm learning to relax into socializing as an adult by realizing that the first thing that comes to my mind when I'm talking to somebody is probably what I should say!
@JhericFury
@JhericFury 10 ай бұрын
I had the same thing, but I spent a large amount of time learning to "translate" my brain into normal conversation, coming up with methods and stock questions. I think your way might be better, because now when I get tired or focused on something there is a noticeable change in how I communicate which can be confusing. Ain't brains fun?

I always did the same due to my generalized anxiety disorder, I was incredibly aware of what I was doing and it was very exhausting after I learned how to manage my anxiety it's gotten better, but I still sometimes catch myself being hyper aware of how I'm acting.

Is Danny maybe allergic to something they use to clean the floors? Since it's just the feet. Also even if the detergent is neutral, doesn't men You can't be allergic. I've found plenty of gentle detergents that I've ended up being allergic to.

yea it could be also contact dermatitis, not necessarily allergy related. I have that and you get eczema similar rashes or hives after being in contact with substances that irritate your skin. I have it against most skincare products and heavy detergents. Also, especially "gentle" ones cuz I have found I get dermatitis against fatty alcohols such as cetearyl, which commonly is known as a gentle ingredient.

DANNY DIDN'T MENTION THE MOST INTERESTING THING ABOUT ALONE!! It's kind of in the name, but these people are ***fully*** alone. They film themselves, there is no camera crew. You don't just see the physical trials of surviving in the wilderness, you see them coping with complete isolation from all human interaction. It is such a fascinating and wildly discomforting thing to watch. The immense psychological challenges they have to face are what sets this show apart imo.

I still struggle with this! The main reason I've never properly learned to play the guitar is because I hate that I don't sound good yet and it makes me flustered when I have to sit with a teacher and fail at something I did practice over and over at home... About the lottery, my brother bought a smaller $10 lottery ticket a few months ago and won $50 and then bought three more for $30 and then won $80, and it was just a loop that kept going for a little while. He ended up stopping bc he was like "I'm gonna just happily take this money before I lose it all or sum." But yeah, it's definitely possible to just keep making your money back and buying more tickets and still ending up in the positive lol.
@matthewdekker6064
@matthewdekker6064 10 ай бұрын
It's possible for some period of time, but I think statistically it's impossible to do it indefinitely without eventually just losing and having to re-start with more money. Otherwise, more people would be doing that. I think the best way to play would be to join a large pool (like a big company pool) where everyone buys a few tickets and then splits the winnings- though even then, you'd want to do that with a smaller lottery, not like the Mega Millions, because even with like 100 people, your chances of winning anything significant are still miniscule. It'd be better to do it in something like a company raffle where there's a few thousand tickets - get like 50 coworkers to buy a ticket or 2 and then split the winnings (or maybe the actual winner gets significantly more, and everyone else makes a small profit).

@@matthewdekker6064 Not impossible, just VERY highly improbable. But also, to clarify, my brother kept ending up in the positive because he never used ALL the winnings on more lotto tickets. Like I said, he bought one and won $50, then spent $30 of that and won $80, and so on and so forth. He kept ending up with more money because he was smart about it and saved some each time in case he lost. But still, you're right that he likely wouldn't have gone on forever like that.

I have generalised anxiety disorder and I constantly write out mental scripts for conversations, especially on the phone. I also analyse past conversations and think about what I should have done and said differently. I have always been shy but I love performing and I regularly make my co-workers laugh. People never understand how I love public speaking and suck so bad in small group or one on one situations.

Dudeee I resonate with this so much! I have generalized anxiety disorder too and I'm great at public speaking and I always do mental scripts as well for conversations. Socialising can be so exhausting though, especially before I learned how to handle my anxiety I "acted" or "performed" and it was very tiring. Still can be, but I'm not as hyper aware of what I'm doing or saying. I do though think back after social interactions and think "I should've said that and why did I do that" 🥲

Hearing him talk about his perfectionism in a roundabout way made me realize he has like the exact same personality and way of thinking as me. It's true with his mental health and dating worries and even just general health issues too but hearing him describe how he used to practice things in private so he could show up with some proficiency made it click that he's just another version of me. @49:33 I would say against this point -- as a film professor -- that you actually DO spend hundreds of hours learning how to watch movies and TV. It's just that most people don't realize they're practicing a skill. It takes a long time for your brain to recognize what an edit in a TV show means, what a close-up is, what a time skip is, etc. It's just that we are all insanely skilled at this because of how much media we watch. Learning how to interpret a movie is a separate skill, but learning just the language of film and media is actually complex.
@AntheanCeilliers

If you could watch a film that had entirely different rules of editing and time, it would be insanely confusing and take you out of interpretation mode too. (Sorry to reply to myself I'm just a media nerd)

Someone please get the message to Danny that babies Do NOT have 'an instinct' to avoid smothering themselves. He doesn't seem to understand the breath-through mattresses are probably to help reduce the risk of SIDS.

@shinniex
@shinniex 9 ай бұрын
Babies, or just humans, do have an instinct to avoid suffocation. It’s been widely studied that babies who die from SIDS have a biological abnormality in the brain that tells them to breathe. Parents that buy these mattresses are probably doing it for precaution purposes. But SIDS is extremely rare and hardly happens to babies that are normal and healthy.
