I'm 61 but only started three months ago to limit my sugar intake. I went on an 8 week keto diet just to get out of the sugar habit. I'm now off keto but I try to limit starches, sugar and fruits to small portions It helps because the cravings are much lower. I use stevia in my coffee and tea and a little xylitol now and again as sweetner in dessert but I try to get by with less and less sugar generally. I've quit my cookie with my tea habit and I try to get a 12-17hr fast between dinner and breakfast. I'm already much better and the cravings reduce dramatically when you do something about them. Don't give up on yourself. Just keep trying and you'll be proud of yourself for helping yourself, albeit later in life. I also stopped smoking. Its very empowering when you can help yourself. Only 4% of people with uric acid 7.0 to 7.9 get gout. Gout resolves on its own in 3 - 6 weeks without lowering the uric acid. Many people in that range never get gout. 20 % of people have that level. The world medical community does not recommend treating treatment only the US. No wonder we are #11/11 in high income countries. Gout is very very rare. Uric acid is U shaped . Fat isn't only stored for cold Winters, it is also stored for times of scarcity. Tropical fruits weren't growing wild in the tropics the way they are now. They have all been bred to be sweeter and softer than they were then. Wild bananas are small and not sweet at all. Our fruit is now different than they even were 100yrs ago, let alone thousands of years ago. Most of the tropics were unpopulated until a two hundred years ago. Only animals then had free range of the natural fruit that grew there.

I heard from Robert Lustig that we should eat a food in its natural form, including it’s fiber. For instance, we couldn’t eat sugar cane because it would be like eating a stick. The same for wheat. We couldn’t eat wheat in its natural form therefore we shouldn’t eat it in it’s processed form either. Honey, though, is in its natural form. It may be created in the exact way that is good for us, especially during the summer, therefore the benefits are found in it just the way it is.

What is the normal level of uric acid for a middle aged male (aged 54)?
@marynguyen64172 жыл бұрын
Sure, whole food is good, for a healthy person. But for the majority of the population, those with disregulated metabolism, then just eating whole food wont be enough. A banana for a diabetic will send his blood sugar off the roof. Let's just not make people think that all they need to do is eating whole food, because the problem has already set in, we are now fixing our health , not maintaining it. Until the population metabolic health is fixed, then maintaining it with whole food would be sufficient.
@Dancky2 Жыл бұрын
You're just stating the obvious, if you're diabetic, don't eat high sugar fruits. Eat whole vegetables and proteins/fats. Your point sounds like an excuse justifying itself to not eat healthier. Good wholefoods which are good for a healthy person would more likely be good for the unhealthy person over the alternative. Processed and junk food then that don't spike the blood sugar? As limited a choice that would be. If you've observed diets and fads over the years, it comes full circle. Whole organic, non gmo foods that are compatible for your genes, seasonal too. Hey, it's hard and I fail at it too. Got to keep trying though. Good luck on your journey since we might be distant cousins.

Liver has been described as a "multi-vitamin in a food matrix." And heart is high in CoQ10. Interesting that oatmeal and dried beans are also high in purines. There goes a chunk of my diet. Black coffee with or without caffeine? I think quercetin needs to be consumed with a fat to be bio-available. I take it dissolved in olive oil but who knows if that's doing anything. Veggies yes, but not those with lectins or purines. Fish - yes, but not the big ones because of mercury and micro plastics. Now - not sardines or anchovies. Milk and eggs were bad, now ok ( but not if you’re a vegan ). So many studies supporting this or that. Just eliminate sugar and processed junk food is the one thing they have in common. Oh, and it appears that coffee is ok …..although too much caffeine is not good for the brain. Waah! 😳

Harley always rode his bike for miles, he would have been burning up all that sugar. Freelee too I guess. But yes, fruit is full of lots of good stuff and fibre. I'm not sure if it's enough on its own, especially when you get older. Older people need more protein, so tofu and beans are my best friends. Personally I think variety is the spice of life, and would not enjoy being limited to fruit. But I can't believe what he said about being vegan in general. Nuts. Has he even heard of Bryan Johnson or Dr Goldhamer among others?

I'm confused. So I started following fruitarians on KZbin 10 to 15 years ago and most of them are still doing it wholeheartedly every single day and hardly any of them that I can see have aged very much and all look extremely slim and healthy with perfect skin. If what this man is saying is true that fruit is bad because of the fructose in it then why are these people not falling apart after 15 solid years of eating nothing but fruit every single day? Also this interview hasn't been set up properly because the thought of staring at the side of that man's face for the next hour really irritating. Try to position your camera so that we can see the whole face of the interviewee.

@ethioamericann Жыл бұрын
I think he is genuinely concerned about the higher consumption of fructose especially in the form of juices 🥤 but if you consume the organic fruits 🍎 it isn’t as bad because it has higher fiber content without the added chemicals. Of course moderation is ideal approach. Also the extreme vegan or extreme carnivorous lifestyle isn’t sustainable in the long run

Is uric acid needed for anything? If so, what is the lower limit for it? Either from the UASure/blood or urine test? Regarding Part 2 of the Rick Johnson / Peter Attia interview (1h26m).. I didn't get the impression that there's actual human evidence showing uric acid is *CAUSALLY* responsible for insulin-resistance or metabolic diseases. For example, given that a high carb/glycemic load -> liver glucose + salt -> Aldose reductase (requires some uric acid) -> sorbitol -> fructose And to metabolize that fructose, requires uric acid to stimulate the production of fructokinaise. (BTW, Rick Johnson's company is developing a drug to knock out fructokinaise), then if you were to lower uric acid from 6.5 to less than 4.5, (via quercetin (500mg/day) / luteolin/ / Allopurinol or by avoiding purine rich foods (sardines/anchovies/smash-fish) or by avoiding beer that can stimulate endogenous purine production) is there data that suggests that one would then see a drop in a1c?

Why did he say sardines at very begining? Thats not fructose. He never mentioned sardines again to explain
@jeffroberts1649 Жыл бұрын
He did mention them again towards the end, this seems completely contradictory to all my laymen research as a matter of fact I am about to start a diet that uses sardines as the main source of protein because everyone else spoke highly of them being the least contaminated. I may look into the blood test he mentioned though.

Has prunes. Uric acid is made in two ways from prunes or fructose.
@RosyOutlook2 Жыл бұрын
Sardines like a lot of seafood are high in purine which can elevate uric acid- trust me the real culprit is fructose and especially HFCS high fructose corn syrup that is the real problem.
@RosyOutlook2 Жыл бұрын
@@zayd7282 prunes are fruit, sure they have fructose in them but that's not the problem a few prunes- he's talking about fructose, and though he doesn't say he's talking about fructose which is extracted from fructose and is pure fructose like fructose from high fructose corn syrup.
@RosyOutlook2 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffroberts1649 it's not really contradictory, he's mentioning 3 foods which can increase uric acid that is the point of his thesis: uric acid, these 3 purines, fructose, alcohol elevate uric acid.

What does a person do about intense suicidal thoughts and extreme body aches and pain when stopping sugar and junk food?
@KM-wv2og2 жыл бұрын
To allow yourself, no matter how unbearable ( I've been there) to experience these hideous feelings knowing that the darkest hour really and truly is before the dawn. The fungus mould on parasites in your system make you feel suicidal because it's their very intelligent way of manipulating you to eat sugar and then of course once you eat sugar they will reward you with all sorts of other chemicals that promoting and perpetuating the addiction cycle. When quitting sugar yes we do get hideous depressive and sometimes anxious feelings but one of the best things to do at that point is to start a parasite cleanse but I can't advise you on that all I know is that I take parasite cleanse tea and this kills the little bastards and stops them from putting you in these horrible reward and Punishment Cycles xx

See your Dr , its nothing to do with food Depression is chemical balance of your grey matter If you have clinical depression is probably you need take anti depressants for life Drs will evaluate which chemicals ( drugs ) your brain ( grey matter ) needs to create the Ballance My 7 year old sons mother took own life after many years depression after escaping secure mental health ward My son is now 17 we are doing fine Depression is your grey matter not YOU ,you are fine you as a person are as beautiful as any one else But the chemical composition of your grey matter is out of sync,all anti depressants do is try to create a ballance so to give you a bit of life If it was a green leg you could see it getting better but because its inside your head you simply cant So please please see your Dr and if prescribed with pills take them ,dont be ashamed they ard medicine
@garyg47172 жыл бұрын
Most medical practises use a three times method ( here in UK ) this means if prescribed anti depressant medicine and patient goes through three sets of courses of tablets over three sets of time and same symptoms recurring when stop taking the pills this will mean grey matter can not create its own chemical balance and the medicine will almost certainly have to be taken for life or the symptoms will simply return Please speak to Drs please heed professional Drs advice Dont feel ashamed ,its quite simply chemical imbalance in brain

Give yourself the necessary support and gradually wean yourself off the garbage you're eating. Continuing to consume it because you fear withdrawal discomfort is the REAL death wish. First substitute xylitol for sugar (it has a smaller sugar spike) and substitute brown bread for white, brown rice for white, substitute butter for margarine and Olive oil for vegetable oil, real ground beef for hamburger patties, fresh or frozen fish instead of unhealthy food like pasta, Roasted chicken is better than KFC, freshly prepared vegetables and salads instead of potato fries. Take short walks to stimulate feel good hormones. Enjoy the fresh air and the little bit of exercise. Get plenty of good sleep. You are busy treating yourself to a healthy life. You can do it. You can find a mild OTC anti-inflammatory temporarily to soothe your aches until you are adjusted. I hope this helps.

Interesting talk, however, I whole-heartedly disagree with the unproven theory of evolution. We are too wonderfully made to have our designer relegated to nothingness when humans cannot create one single thing. They can only create with stuff that is already in existence. I feel sad for God because religious dogma and ritual rather than Bible understanding has turned people away from him. They truly want to believe in chance to convince themselves that they have no accountability to a higher power.
@KM-wv2og2 жыл бұрын
I know the you say evolution is unprovable but is anything in the Bible actually provable? Also from your position could I ask how long you think the Earth has been here because I'm very interested in it. And how and what was here before the Earth? And also what about the other planets are they not very old either? I don't want to become religious but I'm very very interested to learn what everybody else thinks because I'm completely at a loss.

Worlds been here 4 or 5 billion years There is no god thing Universe is somewhere about 15 billion years old Its a mystery we will never know why or why not Humans eventually will be extinct and some other self aware species will emerge on earth or maybe not But within 3 or 4 billion years our sun will die and when it dies it will go very big first and earth with be consumed along with most of the planets After a long time whats left of the sun will explode and there will be a black hole But you know religion ..............most bible pushers dont even know a 10/ of it if that ,its all made up nonesence compiled at least 400 years after events Written in most archaic way just full postulation If American christianity had any thing to say that was remotely real America would still have 100s of 1000s of native people living where they were originally in there same tribal lands ,but for sake of " manifest destiny " they were for most part wiped out and ethnically cleansed by white christians who then went on to import millions of African people to labour for generations as slaves Manifest destiny sure takes the biscuit

Genesis in the Bible tell us the 6 creative days ..how Jehovah God created the earth and all the animals also humans. Everything he made is very complex..no man can copy. And humans today don't give him the credit and respect and love he deserves. Jehovah God the almighty has a plan very soon he will rid the earth of wickedness..and the obedient ones will have the hope of everlasting life in the coming paradise earth..Psalms 37:29. Gradually God Son Jesus will resurrect the righteous and the unrighteous ...John 5: 28,29..The righteous with the prospect of life forever and for the unrighteous hopefully they will learn that they must change their ways to please their Creator Jehovah God. In the paradise there will be the biggest education ever to help these resurrected ones the help they need. Jehovah wants us to learn about his Word the Holy Bible. As he wants people to have the wonderful hope of life forever on earth. What a loving God we have!
