Dr. Perlmutter's main point is around uric acid, fructose, alcohol and purines. It is NOT about fiber or low salt. He brings up fiber as a mechanism to slow down the fructose load but if you don't eat fructose, it's a non-issue. And for the gut microbiome, I've already covered this topic a lot. If you hear him talk about the low salt, he mentions that if you drink water, it may be a non-issue. We have to get past our biases and consider what he is saying. Don't let one smaller point make you discredit the entire message. I share my thoughts on Thursday in a separate video, and also wait for next week's interview with Dr. Richard Johnson as we get a lot more into the nuances for Carnivores. I just ask that you stay open. Here’s my solo video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYWWdXedps6rf6M

Eat fatty meat and no more worry about uric acid. High protein diets are also deadly in significance and frequency. Fiber is also deadly for humans we know. Fermentation of plants (simple and complex sugar) has no benefits for humans. Eating less food and less often (longer fasting windows is better for over all health and wellness). I love Dr Perlmutter very much and I have learned much from him. Simplicity is the best way to find health and uric acid levels rise due to high plants and lean meats in our diets. For the people in the comments: stop going into the extremes and take clues between each line. I got it about salt. It's not bad but sometimes it adds to the uric acid basket when I'm also eating 2-3 portions of sardines. I've noticed uric acids symptoms when I sometimes make lemon juice (with hot water and ginger) (only from a particular type of lemon, similar to oranges, not from the regular lemons). To me all of this makes sense and I'm far from Dr. Perlmutter's diet choices, but a respect✌🏻 for both of you having an open conversation. Can't wait for the next podcast!!!

Thanks for this interview. Really interesting. Not sure I can fully agree with his point about salt playing a causative role in obesity and metaboic syndrome etc. Seems inconsistent with what the science shows. Also, he didnt mention that uric acid is one of the most potent antioxidants in human plasma...which makes me doubt of its causative role in gout - it would not make sense that, a molecule that has important beneficial functions in humans, is also 'killing' us. I suspect there may be something else going on when it comes to gout pathophysiology - It reminds me of the case of LDL, for which there is solid evidence now that it may not be the cause of arterosclerosis, but just a participant.

more and more I'm willing to say that I hold onto very tightly my beliefs. Just a word for some of the comments below. Let's see what Judy has in store for us in her next podcast. In the meantime, as mentioned before, raw grass fed milk and cultured milk products completely eliminates my high uric acid levels. Will be interesting to see how long term carnivores' uric acid levels are, as mine increased over the the 12 years of mainly carnivore with little or no fruit.
@NutritionwithJudy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Van. I’ve learned a lot more and done a lot more research in this area (since I interviewed Dr. Perlmutter). It’s safe to have higher uric acid levels if you’re in ketosis. It makes sense why your UA goes down when drinking raw milk bc of the sugars. The 2-part interview with Dr. Richard Johnson will get very nuanced for our carnivore community. I now don’t agree that meat-only carnivores that are metabolically healing have to have a UA of 5.5 and below. If you are in ketosis, the UA levels differ and likely be safe even above 7. But if you eat fruit and honey, alcohol and liver, then the UA levels without ketones is risky. I promise Dr. Johnson’s video gets so much into this! Get ready. It’s fascinating 🤩

This is fascinating and something I did not know. I can't see Judy's reply to you so I'm assuming she keeps these private. Wondering if this is true & helpful for everyone, or perhaps just body specific to you. Not to mention, finding raw milk is impossible. I do get 100% grass fed milk - does that help? Where are you getting your raw milk?
@van1234463 жыл бұрын
Right now I get my dairy from Millers organic in Penn. they are an Amish group, who sells raw and grass fed. Not ideal this time of year with the cows in the barn eating only silage and hay, but you can specify A2 Jersey milk. I also make my own yogurts with cultures including L. Reuteri, worth looking up and make kefir. Culturing reduces lactose sugars. I also include small amounts of prebiotic foods such as leeks, garlic, and cabbage, to feed 'them' along the intestinal tract. collecting your urine and letting it sit for some hours is also a good way to see what settles out as far as uric acid etc. @@carolgeiler-evidentialmedium

There is one problem I have with this theory... basically I have pretty low uric acid and I have about a 10 year history of it being tested. Lowest was 4.6 and highest was 5.3. Yet I absolutely have had inflammation per my HS-CRP. So Uric acid may cause inflammation but keeping it down won't safe guard you against inflammation. I agree it is something to look at but I am guessing most people who care about their health will find if they start testing it-- that it is pretty stable and low. Also, he seems to concentrate on getting UC down.. but to me... the damage is done. Fructose damages mitocondra crating UC. You have to avoid the damage in the first place.

I was so swollen doing carnivore, I am much happier with meat and lectin free veg, occasional piece of fruit. I appreciate that some people have such damage they can't do any fibre, but I don't think everyone has to adopt that approach. It's about enough protein and excluding irritants specific to you.
