Yet another masterpiece from HDH, The Supremes, and Motown. To this day, the musical chords still touch me as much as they did when I first heard it back in 1968. A sorely under-rated chestnut.

I felt the passion and power of this song as it took me back to the time it was recorded. I was an eight year old with life ahead of me and didn't know what it meant to have music like this around. Looking back, I realized that music really was infusing, powerful, and meaningful. Wish it could be duplicated in such a way that makes the world feel love.

This remix and arrangement caused me to see this song in a different light. It being not as obviously distinguished as the other recordings by the Supremes I had never paid much attention to it. Since I am now a little more “mature” with considerable sharper musical insight and discernment I am better able to appreciate the sophisticated craftsmanship that gives this song a very unique polish and luster. Thanks very much for helping me to re-evaluate this more obscure of the Supremes anthropology. You just never know how things will turn out! Paul W. Green

I love it! ***** This song and "Reflections" are my favorite Supremes songs. You've more than done "Forever Came Today" justice. The otherworldly, yet heavenly mixture of the electric piano with the brass really captures the Supremes at their best, IMHO. "Forever" should have been the same hit that "Reflections" was on the charts, but did manage to make the top 30. Thanks so much!

On this day in 1968 {March 24th} Diana Ross and the Supremes performed "Forever Came Today" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'... Eight days earlier on March 16th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #28 and spent 9 weeks on the Top 100 It also peaked at #28 on the United Kingdom's Singles chart And it reached #17 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart R.I.P. Mr. Sullivan {1901 - 1974} and in two days on March 26th Ms. Ross will celebrated her 69th birthday

The word that comes to mind is "majestic". The arrangement of this record is amazing. Love hearing the instrumental portions and marveling at the magic of Motown. I don't think it was the powerful arrangement or soaring vocals that kept this one from being another killer hit for The Supremes. It was the poetic quality of the title and lyrics; it was just slightly "deeper" than their usual more breezy, finger-snappin' good time singles, but it is still a stone cold classic example of Motown's brilliance regardless of how high it charted. Awesome mix!!

Even though this is the last single that Florence Ballard appears on, after its release, Diana Ross only recorded with in-house vocalists, namely The Andantes, and their singles (beginning with "Reflections") were released as by "Diana Ross and The Supremes". After Florence Ballard left Motown for ABC records, there was a stipulation in her release from Motown that she could NEVER mention the fact that she was ever a member of the Supremes, nor could she be promoted as being an ex-member. Her press bio from ABC only mentioned that she was a member of one of the world's greatest singing trios.

Yes, the Supremes were the cream of the crop, female group of their era. They were the IT Factor for Berry Gordy. And Berry knew it. The only group, that excelled them in popularity were The Beetles. And the Beatles were pretty much done, when John Lemon left the Band.
